A few additional information to give you some more context: The funicular is unlike others built of four passenger- and one transport gondolas that operate like gondolas on a ferris wheel, keeping passengers and goods always level at all angles of incline. The Stoos cable car not only serves tourist purposes, it's also the only available transport connection to the village, apart from a cable car from the other side. So it's used by locals commuting to work, by school kids going to school down in Schwyz and restaurants and shops transporting their goods up and down the mountain. Since it serves public transport purpose, the Swiss travel pass and the half price card are valid. On the downhill ride you can observe some regional flavors: The two cows on the left are "Schwyzer Braunvieh", or Swiss brown cows, a breed that actually originates from the area of Canton Schwyz, where Stoos is located. The two imposing mountain peaks in front are called the Grosse Mythen and the Kleine Mythen, and they tower above the town of Schwyz. If you're fit enough and not afraid of heights, you can actually hike on top of the Grosse Mythen (it translates to "big myth mountain") and you will find a restaurant and small souvenir shop on top - a thing you wouldn't believe standing below this imposing piece of rock.
