Geo Metro 1997 engine fix up
Просмотров 1,4 тыс.11 лет назад
This 97 metro was in rough shape when I got it and now it's great!!!
Idk y they didn’t put that nut on the out side
Thank you.
geo metro does not have a serpentine belt
I just got done changing my belt. Thanks for the video. It took me about 30-45mins and that's taking my time. Most of the time was searching for a pry bar and getting the alternator to move. PB blaster along with a giant stake got the alternator to move forward. I had to use a tire iron to get it to move back and then the stake again to get it to the starting position. I would suggest anyone reading this, that a pipe around 3 feet long should do the trick. No more squeals though. It started off just a slight noise at start up and then in the last few days it was non stop. I have had the car for 2 years, so who knows when it was changed last.
Do you have take that bottom. Belt off to get alternator belt on ?
What are the specs of the belt?
I took off a bolt but it aint moving
There’s two under neath
Im stranded in a city near anothe city where I live. Got a belt and dropped off with tools by my bro. Im gonna try this. Replaced my alternator went help and belt flew off I think cuz a month later I drove to work. After work yesterday belt was missing. Im back in town with a new one ready to fix an drive home.
Lmao how do I find you here lol
Ty so much man
Kiero comovarlmofle ceo metro
You got a sunroof...lucky. Super clean engine bay compared to mine. Thanks for the vid.
Watching this instead of studying and I don’t even have a Geo
Have one yet...if not, now is the time...looking at gas prices. I will never sell mine.
@@Hughesburner oh yeah, with how unstable prices are 50+ highway mpg is looking pretty nice
Thanks you're video help out.
thanks so much! My mechanic wanted $155 for this job that didn't seem like it was very time consuming.
Thank you so much. This was very helpful and empowering.
et boringThanks for this! I was late for a meeting and this video let me fix my "battery issue". Hill starts get boring after a while.
Yah, I did mine before perfectly, then after changing alternator (Apparently for no reason because, it was fine but new part upgrade so WTF, also water pump) is now lose, squeaking especially when running heater or not final belt catching after hitting breaks (Lack of RPMs on pulley) but keeping battery charged after several months. Annoying having to go back in tightening applying simultaneous forces against one another with bar... apparently, I don't recomment Tire-iron method I previously used, LOL. Thank a lot video helped big time... I was also tightening nut from outer side instead of inner side like you.
Thanks man! A coworker of mine needed her serp belt changed so I offered to do it. I’m still a budding mechanic so I figured something as simple as a 55HP L3 engine would be perfect to start with. Thanks to you she now has a nice new belt, and a quiet car. Thanks for helping a future mechanic!
Amazing! Just purs.
Can you show where and how to change the fuel filter, please?
Thanks for the video!
do you really get more power from the air box? is it noticeable I may do it. what did you use.
thanks s million I just bought my car from a women who told me she just put on the new belt and it sqeals when I first start it I'm betting she wasn't strong enough and it needs to be tightened I'm going to try and tighten tomorrow.
Great video, just got my metro, doing small improvements. Thanks!
itd be nice if told us what belt number is cause mine shredded and I cant read it.
The auto parts store can tell you.
Thanks for the video! It's always hard to find instructions for this car!
is that the only bolt? because my alt. wont come forward and I'm basically lifting the car off the ground pulling so hard
+Kaleb Reeves I'm having the same problem. Did you ever get yours to come forward?
+Colter Sherley there is a bottom bolt that holds it
+Kaleb Reeves that did the trick. Thank you for the tip! Finally, no more squealing! For those of you that can't pull the alternator forward, there are two more 12 mm bolts underneath the alternator on either side. Loosen them but don't pull them out. Loosening these bolts should allow you to pull your alternator forward and take the belt off.
@@Goose75 4 years later and your insight just saved me a ton of wasted headache and a few extra swear words! I suspected there was another underneath!
@@joedantonio2015g glad I could help! I had to sell my red metro last year. I'm going to miss how easy it was to work on that car.
One possible tip: You don't have to take that bolt completely out. Loosening it is fine enough to move the alternator once those bottom bolts are loosened as well.
Your video was invaluable! Esp where you said it was a 12mm socket, so I didn't have to search. It's good to know these things before beginning a project! Thank you!!
This was my first time changing the drive belt and your video was very helpful . You should let people know that there is a bolt underneath the alternator that needs to be loosened up in case it's too hard to move. Thanks .
Are u from ny sir
I had a 96, put a new head on it when it burned a valve. My best mileage was 46 mpg, great little cars.
That car runs perfect! Good job.
