    I'm a videographer, is it a good idea to put the pocket 3 on a tripod and shoot with it, for example, a recording of a ceremony in a church? I don't like to leave a big camera on a tripod while I'm shooting details. It's too big and noticeable, and I still have to deal with the sound. The Pocket 3 is pretty small and also offers sync with an external mic, so I'm wondering if that would be ok. Plus, I wonder if it can handle 4k60 for more than half an hour without overheating.

    Good video. The pocket is a good tool to do a little bit of everything, but it requires a little effort from us to get the most out of it, if we walk normally it will seem like we are nodding all the time and it is somewhat annoying, with a little more of softness when walking, much better results are achieved.

    this is wrong. if you pull the tongue like he shows, you will tear the bloody boot liner apart. you need to peel open the boot from side to side, not forward. and all the other commenters recommending the top down approach is correct.

Stick to snowboarding pal, leave the skiing to the experts. No it won’t tear. If you’d listened to what I say in the video and actually watched it properly, you’d know I pull the tongue up and to the side, I even say this and quite clearly do this. I’ve had it clarified by atomic and Salomon there is no right and wrong way to buckle up a ski boot, but they do both recommend fastening and tightening from the toe buckle upwards. Watch my other video on this. But I guess you’ll think you know better than the manufacturers of ski boots😂 P.s it’s called football not soccer, and please let someone else take the free kicks.

And guess what it is called Football in the rest of the world, but in the states it is called soccer, because stupid American football is called football due to the fact the football is exactly a foot long. I don't understand why people Got so up in arms over such a harmless way to get people into skiing. However you may want to put them on. As long as the boot fits snug and you dont lose circulation you should be fine. That being said. I normally put them on in the way the feet buckles come first because who wants to talk with the top of the boots buckled tight. All it does is cause shins to hurt from all that walking.

    Nice video. At least it's now clear that doing it bottom to top is not wrong 😀 I do think that it just doesn't matter much...if at all, in which order you fasten the buckles. The forces that are exerted when you flex in your boot will properly seat your foot in the boot anyway so the end result will always be the same. Also kicking the heel is pretty useless in most boots.... just buckle up then flex your boot, that'll properly seat your ankle and keep it there. Is there anyone that can actually feel a difference after flexing the boot a couple of times? Provided of course that the buckles are fastened in the same position, just a different order? I am really curious because I cannot, in any of my boots. I have normal piste boots, off-piste boots and race boots, and especially the latter I'd expect to feel a difference, but I don't?

      Don’t take this the wrong way mate, I have a lot of friends from the USA which is where I’m guessing you’re from, and probably ski head boots. Just because one manufacturer may recommend a certain way of fastening a boot up, doesn’t mean all the others recommend the same, there always more than one way to do something. Not everything has to or does conform to whatever the USA recommends. In Europe we have a little more finess and can think for ourselves. I’m not a robot and neither are my clients. End of the day, I’m more interested in my clients comfort and enjoyment on the piste than what a manufacturer says or doesn’t say, and as for for looking ridiculous, well that’s your opinion pal, I’ve over 800 likes and no dislikes, and numerous comments from people who’ve followed my advice and it’s changed their enjoyment of skiing for the better, which is my main priority. The great gift we have as humans is to think for ourselves and do what works for us, you might try it, it could change your life. Btw I’m a ski instructor with 15 years experience teaching in italy, Austria and the uk, so I know what I’m talking about. ex racers don’t make the best instructors, too much about themselves than their clients….just a thought.

    Whats the point in getting some 130 boots just because you like the brand and then leaving 2 whole fingers of wiggle room. Totally defeats the reason of buying a stiff and sportive shoe. If they cut off your blood flow or hurt in another way you simply bought the wrong boots. If you want to have stiff boots you need to but some that fit your foot so that you can tighten them much more than you showed in the video. Of course you don't have to overtighten them but there should be no wiggling room so that you have controll of the ski all of the time. Your video maybe is appropriate for a "Genuss Skifahrer" but not for a "pro"

    • @chrisstoreyphotography
      @chrisstoreyphotography Год назад

      I don’t leave 2 fingers wiggle room when I ski and where in the video did I say I leave two fingers wiggle room personally? This is a video for complete beginners. And for control of the ski at all times, really that’s down to your technique and not your boot, I’d suggest getting some skiing lessons pal if you think having your boot super tight is gonna give you more control over your skis.

    • @nichtDarkDiamond
      @nichtDarkDiamond Год назад

      @@chrisstoreyphotography ok so its best to just let them undone if it makes no difference? Last time I skied I had the buckles 1 click looser than usual. I had absolutely no control over the pressure I transferred into my ski and the only thing I did that run was to try and keep my foot from rotating 360° inside of the boot. I had to waste most of my energy keeping the heel where it belongs instead of using it for skiing. If you are a big person and weigh like 100kg that might not be a problem for you, but I weigh a bit less than the average person of my size and need that power transmission to achieve sufficient edge grip. Its simple physics that I have less force pulling me into the ground than a heavier person does. And also, even for people who ski verry often it is highly advisable to get some lessons every now and then. How are you able to judge my riding ability if you never have seen me ski irl. Although I am underweight I am able to get a stiff slalom ski to work really great for me. Couldn't imagine doing fast and agile turns with a boot on that wiggles around like crazy. Maybe it is possible with your weight but every ski instructor I met told me that I compensate my weight deficit quite well with my technique. If you want to argue further with me it would be really nice of you to send me your current type of ski, the area you typically ski the most and maybe your weight.

    • @chrisstoreyphotography
      @chrisstoreyphotography Год назад

      @@nichtDarkDiamond Exactly. If you ever go and train to be an instructor you’ll carve with both top buckles completely undone. Controlling your ski isn’t about boot tightness, it has everything to do with posture, movements, balance, steering, pressure, rotation, edge control, I could go on. Having a stiff boot that’s tight does give you the ability to go into turns more aggressively, and the ski will react quicker, but the fundamental skills you need to turn the ski are the same for high speed aggressive turns as they are for slow speed gentle turns. Like you say, you had no control over the pressure on your ski, that’s technique not your boot, get some lessons.

    Tl;dr: find a better video. Hmm, it is strange that RUclips seems to pop up this video in many people's feeds after a year it has been published. If you read the comments, many people, mostly very experienced, criticize the order explained in the video. And the author, citing his experience teaching beginners, is fairly hostile to negative commenters. And the main argument is that there are options. Yes, there are options. Being an expert skier with boots fitted by one of the best boot fitters in the area, my priority with buckles and the booster strap/velcro may be different than for a beginner. But I also teach beginners and teach differently. I don't think the order explained does not work, I just am not sure it is net positive. BTW, I teach my students ankle tension from day 1 and find that the top buckle being too tight can hinder the learning some, but I also teach them to put the velcro under the plastic shell and make it snag.

      @@bobdavis2689 There is no suffering in removing the liner though. It's actually a very convenient way to put on your boots. It's just not always necessary as most boots are wide enough to use Chris's method. If you have laced liners you need to remove it anyway as there is no way to evenly tension the lacing otherwise. Also, I never use the heel-tap. Just fasten the top or top two buckles, and then pressure your shin to get your heel into the back of the boot. Then tighten the lower buckles and re-tighten the top ones. It's a more effective way to get your heel into the back of the boot, as with properly tight inner boot, your heel will be forced out of the pocket anyway after a tap.

    Keeping your boot inside before wearing them should be reccommended by manufacturers as well. Used my brand new boots after having them in a roof box for the 4 hour drive to the slopes, my friend had to hold the boot down while my other friend forced them open just so I could slip past the ankle, shit was crazy. When theyre room temp I can pop them on in like 5 seconds.

      A heated bag is magic! Another option is to warm bottles of water. Microwave for one minute or so. Drop them down inside the liner. Not as good as a heated boot bag, but better than nothing.

    As a former pro skier (PSIA III) who has spent an entire career in the ski world, fit ski boots on numerous people and worn ski boots for many decades, I am sorry to say that this advice is incorrect and very often causes skiers to buy the wrong size boots…usually too large. The top buckle…not the bottom buckle…should be fastened first so that it becomes the fulcrum on the shin which when the knee is pressed forward pushes the heel back into the heel pocket properly at which point the remaining buckles should be fastened in descending order down the boot from the top. Once the foot has been positioned in this manner, the buckles can be adjusted for a most snug and comfortable fit.

      Thanks Tom. This video isn’t a buyers guide to buying the correct size boots. It’s aimed at beginners who’ve never worn boots before. It’s the role of the boot fitter to make sure their customers boots fit correctly, not this video.

      Tom, I don’t disagree totally, but I think the way to approach it (fit wise) is indeed deciding the amount of leverage you want on the tongue (which depends on the style of skiing…from racing to park/pipe), and then allowing the toes to be able to move, and lastly a solid mid foot clasp.

    If your gonna ski anything that actually requires skill or any kind of input from the skier than i advise you crank the f@ck outa the power strap and top buckle and maybe a little to the ankle buckle. The lower 2 are the kiss of death for any circulation or warmth. 1 finger is ridiculous, never-mind dangerous.

      Thanks for your insightful comment. I’m assuming your a pro skier, i.e someone who gets paid to either race or teach? This video is aimed at complete beginners, not people who want to crank the **** out of their boots. And as for it being dangerous having a finger gap, if you are a pro skier, I’m pretty sure part of your training would have involved skiing at high speed into long carved and short radius turns with the top two buckles completely undone, so not sure where you get this notion from but I’d be interested to hear more about your reasoning behind this statement.

    I recommend every skier and ski boot fitter reads and memorizes "The Cruel Shoes" a short story by Steve Martin .ruclips.net/video/6bhrBdgYTV8/видео.html A lot goes into the boots before you can "put them on".we will avoid sizing professional ski boots are 2 whole sizes smaller than your street shoe size. Professional ski boots come with warning placcards on the boot sole to remind you the boot is not din standard and must have the toe and heel planed before use. Then the fitting, a process where pain is mandatory and you only try to reduce the pain not eliminate it. Lace up liner require their own modifications often cutting, shredding, crosshatch cutting pressure points. Race boot shells have thicker plastic so you can heat and stretch pressure points and grind to fine tune the pain. Once every thing hurts just right eveny everywhere you are ready to put them on. The learning process is grueling. knowing where to put your thumbs and fingers to spread the shell and not break your hands is a trial and mostly error effort. It's not just your feet that hurt. You have to contort your whole body and get into very uncomfortable positions while the shell swallows your foot. Much like a spring loaded hunting trap once triggered you pray the sub sole of the boot stays in place other wise it flips sideways cytting your foot in half length wise, more pain. After many harsh words for your boot fitter you try to do the work yourself, ruin a few hundred dollars worth of ski boots and go back to your boot fitter and bribe him with booze, nothing cheap, single malt. A few more tantrums later you get on snow and every thing is wrong you go get can' adjusted, forward lean reduced, flex softened. Try again, bad results more grinding and cutting liner up. Months of work to get a boot that doesn't feel good ever is very cold but at those moments where manipulating snow chemistry is critical you can.
