I can’t believe that that ended up in a scrapyard
Gave you a sub from Upstate New York
A trip back to the 70’s for me. She’s a beaut!!
Awesome sled sounds amazing....
I remember these sleds well. My Uncle was a dealer back in the day and sold ski-daddler’s
Beautiful sled. I agree, I can't believe someone would scrap it.
Wow that looks mint, i bet my dad doesnt know about this sled
It's quite something really"...P.O.S
Our 1979 Sno-Prince had that engine. I was 9 years old when we had that machine. The hood on your Ski-Zoom looks like my 1972 Snow prince
Oh man, the simplicity of the old one lunger fanners. Love those old machines. First snowmobile I ever bought (for 20$US) had a 297 Sachs on it. Sled was junk but man that engine ran great. Ended up putting the 297 on a 1972 Boa Ski frame. (This was back in 1980-81.) That thing was a blast! I could tell stories, LOL, but I will spare you all of that. I was actually able to coax 55+MPH from that setup. Not bad for a one lunger fanner. I wish I still had that old 297 Sachs. It was a good, solid engine.
Classic🎉
Nice
That’s all the sled anybody needs and it you get it stuck you can actually pick it up
My wifes dad has the Yamaha Snow scoot. Not bad. Nice job on your build. Those P Auto moyors are pretty good. I have one in my mini bike. 80 kmh all day. Cheers
Id like to find one like that. Doesnt even have to be as pretty. Thanks for sharing
That is a '69 MS-18 and should be a model 42 with the 300 Hirth. The clutch side hood decal is correct '69 and the other side is from a '70 Cadet. Nice sled.
Yes I knew that after I said it but it was too late
We had two 1970 grand prix moto skis...and both were garbage.
stock was 12 hp....yours is a T that's 16 hp....The SS was 22 hp....Yours is a dog !!
had one and a 69 Olempic love them wish I still had them
Would have been easier to mod the air box.
@@bigwilly066 if I did that you would have to open the hood to start it as a filter would be in the way
Have fix up headlight too and see if brake light works too !
Ricky from trailer Park boys has a sweet sled!
I rode an elan ss, it was a 292 or 294. A little quick fun sled !
Led sled pc a junk
Could slow down the idle
That looks really good
I live in Maine on the coast we had snow mobiles years ago a lot of fun but we have not had enough snow in years to run them anymore
@@stevenbrown1798 I’m not far from ya I’m five minutes away from houlton
Nice Elan!! Just a tip tho: never run those spin on filters!!! Always in line.
@@CanadianPhil506 I ordered some I just didn’t have one that day the new spin on ones are junk for sure
How would you get away from the spin on fuel filter ? You would have to change the bottom plate in the carb ?
Had a 74 elan deluxe 250 T fan cooled drove it forever, motor was bullet proof
I got one in 72' wrapped up under the tree, good times
I have a 1974 Elan with the tool box and original yellow tool holder with ownership and a 79-80 ??? Yamaha 340 enticer... both are great in the snow.
Would you be willing to sell that Elan . ?
@TheYeti308 No it will end up in my grandson's hands.
Wow remember that from when I was a kid the elan no speed but can’t kill it and as kids we tried to kill everything
My brother and I both had one and they were the best machine for breaking trails after a big snow storm back in the 70's. My parents had a group that would go out riding at night in upstate NY and they would send my brother and I out so we could break the trails open so everyone could ride them after they got home from work. Like the previous person said, never got stuck.
Only the singles could break trail, the Twins are fun, but didn’t have the torque to keep going, I had both and they were both fun
THE BEST DEEP SNOW SLED I EVER HAD AS A KID.....COULD NOT GET IT STUCK
Only the single. Torky as hell. Climed every hill at Ripley ski hill, any other rider barely 1/2 way. Then i gots a twin ,zippy lil thing but couldnt climb the ski hill😮
@@stevehanke1842 YOURS MUST HAVE BEEN A DUD...I TOO HAD BOTH AND THE 250 TWIN WAS BETTER IN EVERY WAY
That’s because as a kid you probably weighed 80 pounds!

Nice one 👌 I had one too, original drive belt too, i dont have it anymore but i have a video of it on my channel, check it out, i now have a 1976 with the penguin on the sides
Greetings, As YOUTHS ( WE ) ran one of these all around as often as possible. Backyards, Lakes, Trails, Fields when snow was actually a thing long before Thanksgiving. As for the FILTER, GAS, Oil, Belts, Track and such ? A good rule of thumb is to ALWAYS remember Machines / Engines are Air pumps MEANING WHAT ? It needs very basic things to \operate ( CORRECTLY ) Clear Air flow, Fuel that is Fresh ( NOT ) Glazed over or already turned to varnish. S P A R K, like a Fresh or At the very least ( C L E A N ) Plug. Exhauast that is Free of animals and the debris they tend to pack into every inch possible A buddies Relative had his sitting behind the barn for an entire year. Came the first real snow .What he expected to happen was indeed a ( NO Go ) Situation. Track and Skis froze Rock Solid to the Ground. The fuel was a Pre-mix version of Wrong type and amount creating a Clogged up Carb and Collapsed fuel lines also. He had Removed the Fuel filter to try and get more use out of it years before. I D I O T S and A$$HOLES. A pair along with being One in the Same still. Belts that are worn DONT Help Anyone when a spare is NO WHERE to be FOUND or Bought in the middle of the woods or Lake near dark. As for the rest. *( K. I. S. S. ) * That means { Keep It Simple - Stupid } Don't over think or Under perform routine checks for the balance of long lasting fun and joys. When ever possible. Once a month RUN the unit. Keep the \track and skis OFF the Ground. Roller dollies and Tarps or Covers are a Good rule of thumb as well. Spare Plugs, Belts, A Few simple tools , etc. Better to have it then NOT need it overall. Quick Side bar. A buddies Brother was so proud he got a Second hand 9700 Blizzard Ski - doo one winter from a Guy who had a health issue. LIKE new but still a few years old already. He claimed to the be the BEST of the BEST of all the rest of us. Funny thing he was NOT prepared for even the most basic of acts out on the trails. One mid afternoon we decided to go Lake hopping to see what other options were possible. He claimed beating me would be easy. Carbides on the skis he had . Mine was an Arctic Panther with Steal cleats and Ca Claws of two different versions on it overall. RUBBER only tracks are good on SNOW ( NOT ) I C E Regardless. His Straight line speed was useless in the woods and Cut backs on hills and such needed to get onto and off of the many small ponds and little lakes we encountered. SCOUTING Taught me much. Ever hear this saying: BE PREPARED - ALWAYS That was their motto. I had Rags, Flashlight, Gloves, Zip ties, Wrenches and Bulbs, Extras Plugs and a Few belts as well. A Length of Rope, A Nice Tow Strap Heavy Duty that got used many times though out the years already by then. Some Water proof matches. Lighter, Gause pads, Band - Aids and a Bandana along with a few nuts and bolts of various sizes. A Couple of Screw drivers, and well YOU get the overall idea. Spare oil, a MUST. Even A ONE GALLON GAS CAN WITH ABOUT Half FULL was already ready in every way. I pulled him through and out of ditches. Off lakes and around barbed wire fences. He got stuck on that Rocket ship way more then i ever did on the older heavier sled. My Ran like a Top. He was always fouling out plugs and burning up belts instead. BUY ONCE ( CRY ONCE ) Filters, Hoses, Fuses, Bulbs, Belts, Plugs , etc. I am NOT hear to tell YOU what to do. Butt in the many years of riding Recreational Vehicles ( I ) Always got home on my own. While helping others who did not have a pot to piss in or a dine to pa for extras gas or oil either SADLY CASH is KING DO NOT RELY on ATM or other Card Related offerings. CLOSED , Out of Service. Like loose change of pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters. Dollar bills and Fives and tens a Twenty never hurt tucked inside a Ziplock baggies for years and years before I used it to HELP a stranded KID out on the trail get a Drive belt from a Hardware store of all places. CASH ONLY was there policy. Care to guess how often I ever got Repaid or Paid it Forward by others out there ? Thanked for all these KIND DEEDS happening ??? The VOICE of REASON Has Spoken BE PREPARED - ALWAYS K.I.S.S. and never ever forget its often the very basics that can HELP instead of hurt to get you back from point A to B Once more For Sure..
I got one of those motors. Trade for Moto-ski capri motor.
@@KWMeikle I don’t have a capri motor tho
@ just throwing it out there. Someone else might have one. Lol
