I had the hugest blessing of being a part of this congregation under Rabbi King. His impact in my life and spirituality is huge and our conversations with the Rabbi for confirmation classes were my favorite. I have experienced my fair share of antisemitism growing up here in Orange County. And when a red swastika was painted on the boys' bathroom wall at Aliso Niguel High School two weeks before my son's graduation, I took it to the Superintendent of CAPOUSD; straight to the top knowing they would wash the paint off but not address the roots of these concerns. No Place For Hate scratches the surface . . . The divisiveness of religion, politics, race, sex, health and so forth is intolerable. Homes were divided over Covid and the jab, the political landscape and more. This has to stop.

You’re right, but it is also a slippery slope without any moral or ethical guidance which is the trend now. Between the rewriting of textbooks, removal of the pledge of allegiance, removal of paintings and symbols of our leaders, I wonder where this slippery slope will go? Are you also uncomfortable with the Ten Commandments being in the Supreme Court? Or “In G-d we Trust” on our currency? Our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values and I don’t believe stripping away those values is bringing us to a more ethical society. In fact, absent of a moral code, like the Ten Commandments, I see whoever has the most power and money, and in some cases, foreign governments, writes the rules for us all. That is a big risk too. Just my thoughts Rabbi. Shabbat Shalom!

I firmly believe in separation of Church and State; however, I think this move by Louisiana (and soon by certain other states, I have no doubt), is motivated by politics, not morality.
