Did a terrible job of filming my terrible performance at the track this weekend. There's always the next race, for improving my track performance, but I'm afraid this You-Tube channel creation thing is just not working. Poor equipment, not enough cameras, and camera positions. Not enough knowledge and help, crappy editing software, etc. Just POOR QUALITY has been the result! I TOTALLY apologize...

For anyone who doesn't know, the 375HP 1970 396 car, was even more rare than a 1970 LS6 454 car. I put a Gear-Vendor overdrive in this car, about last year at this time. I should of replaced all the clutch stuff at that time, but got lazy. Now it's finally gett'n the good stuff.

We had it back on the track for eliminations bright and early that morning. The things we do for fun on the weekends. Took 3 seasons to get it so it would hold-up. 3 summers of cringing every time I launched it. 8 years of taking 800 HP now. I think I've got it worked out.
71 Corvette LS6, Back in 2013, thrash'n at the track. C3 rear ends are known for this.

From my experience, they're only good up to about 600HP from the factory. Took me about 3 seasons of trial and error to get it to hold-up to 800-1000HP and hook hard.

To not be bitter and resentful and angry shows great strength in a man... much more than most men!! I THINK he deserves alot more compensation than the Doctors got for the surgury! Somehow they did not fallow up correctly and watch formajor drawbacks of these drugs.. It seems the pills they gave joe made him go blind..these are the facts! Yes FACTS HES BLIND!!!😢Sad to see how people get pushed aside and these darn big money Dr's dont have any responsibility for NOT doing their jobs and guys like joe pay the price🤨

Yes, Rusty is 4x4.
Did the engine clear the firewall? Did the transmission clear the floor? If so, do you have videos about that? My 1957 has a 5.3L and a 4l60. I'd like to spend as little as possible fitting the engine/trans in there.
Engine cleared the firewall but transfer case needed a little extra clearance on the floor.

Fantastic classic sports GT car, I mean if you look at the 1963 and 1967 C2 Corvette along with the 1969 C3 Corvette..is there anything better looking? Porsches don’t get a look in frog eyed VW lookalikes..no chance, Ferraris ..yes the closest. Lambos..no they look like kit cars. Jags nice but no cigar.

I love the 57 chevy but dont like how LS Motors look, espacially if you have to use big ugly boxes and computer boxes. 1957 Chevy, mine has a 350 Sm blk.

How did you modify the radiator did you just put fans on it or what let me know
just an aftermarket aluminum radiator with a couple pusher fans on it. i really wouldn't need them, but like to run them on the return lane when I'm going rounds.

I got a 68 396 Camaro I've had for almost 30 years, not nearly as healthy as what you got but it still puts a smile on my face when I hit the 4 barrels, keep the videos coming
What impressed me most were the tires he run with. Vettes notorious on breaking traction. Would of liked to see instrumentation and if launch and run fully puter.

LOL What used to be referred to as a sleeper. Could have won some 'Big Betting Bucks' back in the fun days of running on the back roads. Mushy performance stock C3's were easy targets as ego inflated drivers thinking they had something. This one would have raked in some sucker bucks for sure...

I normally take the fuel line to the fuel pump off and then take a rag and the good ole compressed air to the gas filler neck to get fuel pushed to the fuel pump.

Back-at-cha man. Quick car you've got there. Wish I knew some tricks, to somehow get more subscribers, so I could buy some gear, get some help, and keep my channel going. Personally, I really like the type of small-time, grass-roots content, of channels like ours. I'm pretty sure others do too.

I have viewed dozens of videos where builders degree the cam but not one can be found if it's out and the remedy.
I know, it's like they always say "close enough" ha ha (including me this time). I've been having trouble finding "quick adjust" timing sets for BBC lately from Cloyes, but Comp cams makes about the same set. #8110 for BBC. They are expensive, but my preferred way to do it. (easiest). Otherwise, if they don't want to spend that much money, get a set with 9 keyway lower sprocket, and just keep checking and adjusting until it's where you want it. I just fought a Pontiac that was way off. Should of filmed that one. You would of been sleeping by the end. Ha ha
I have a 71 LS5, how did you fit that aluminum manifold, carb and air cleaner under the stock hood?
It's just a little lower than an L88 set-up with the 7474 intake and 4150. I did have to get rough with the air-cleaner base a little, and use a flat head bolt, instead of the stud and wing-nut. It still rubs a bit, even bows the hood up a little when its latched, but it works. If you're still running the Quadrajet, it may be tough to find a taller factory intake that will fit. The factory intakes just sucked for these cars after 69

I grenaded a half shaft u joint side stepping the clutch around a corner. New forged axle stubs and some quality u-joints and she’s like brand new
Can you please tell me the specs of your engine.
Your basic 582 low-deck. 4.60 bore, 4.375 stroke, 11 to 1 compression, 785 lift, 290 solid roller, heads flow about 410 @ .800 on the intake side. Around 800HP on 91 pump gas. EZ combo. I found a used rotating assembly, that had the rods turned .010, and had the whole thing done for around $10K. That was 8 years ago. Anyone can do this stuff. I'm just a nobody.
You sound like a great mech....I need you to build my original 350 in my 71 Vette; she's really slow and I'd like to run at least a 13.5. I thought about buying a 383 stroker long block, but I'd like to keep my car all numbers matching.
What does it run now? You should only need somewhere between 300 and 350HP to hit 13.5. What rear gears are in it? 4 speed car or something? Shouldn't take much. Almost anyone can do what I do.
@@TheEpicWolfGirl Its an all stock automatic, 71 Base Corvette...I think they ran around a 15 second quarter mile out of the factory. It feels like a pig compared to my 2016 Camaro SS with a 460 HP stock LT1. I still love to drive the Vette though, but it would be nice to punch it and actually have some power ; |
@@cgmax9830 Make sure your rear end housing doesn't have an AW stamped on the bottom of it. AW means 3.08 gears, and dog city with a small block.

Kind of a silly way common folk describe the different generations of corvette. The term C3 is actually kind of an insult to a 68-72 owner, (because of the 10 years of dogs that followed those years, that were classified the same,) but it is what it is. Ruined the value of ours, but we deal with it.
