The finish leaves a lot to be desired and why didn't you open up the hole more so you could use it like a vase instead of a pot plant holder. And instead of varnishing straight away use some sanding sealant first and then it won't have that plastic look.

Should have put one bow tie at the top, then put dowels down the front so it looked like a dress shirt (the dowels would look like buttons down the front of shirt).

It’s what they can make no matter what the wood is they are all great woodworkers and making something worth while having congratulations

I have to say, that looks remarkable. I had no idea how it would turn with the pieces laid out the way you placed them. How much would a vase like that sell for in your country? I think it would sell for between $40 and $50 in the United States - very nice for a few pieces of scrap lumber.
