I’m so exited for this to be released, I will definitely but it.
ME TOO! This one sort of blends a combination of things I do under all my pen names in a way and definitely had me blushing the whole time I wrote it lol!
I should use this important information for my epic novel project
Author Valerie Willis, great content it was really good
Carlus Magnus was a fairly inconsequential figure in the history of Norse expansion. Rising population and fairly poopy overall average Scandinavian farmland quality drove much of the outflow of Norse population throughout the Viking Age. Traders were far more common than raiders. Still, you get an A for original thought from me. 😁😁😁 Is your life complete now? 😁🐸😋
Wasn't looking to have my life complete, but always enjoy talking about these topics. Thanks for joining the discussion!
@@willisauthor Just being a smarty-pants. Again, interesting connection between the Norse and Frankish cultures.
@@bretthess6376 It's fine ^_^ - you should hear my conspiracy on Greek gods are legacy names for families, like choosing who will carry that name, ambience, and do things in the namesake as if they were said god. I know there were a few cultures that did that... especially with the fact there's a Celtic and Greek version of Apollo that overlaps in interesting ways.
@@willisauthor Not surprising given Indo-European origins, yes?
Sounds reasonable to me.
It made sense to me. Definitely felt plausible....
That was refreshing and informative. TY.
That's how I felt listening to his little snippet! Had to share!
Thanks for that. To be honest before I listened i thought it was going to be something about the "Charlemagne" who calls himself a god and the Minnesota Vikings.
There's an old image that was passed around where Charlemagne compared himself to King Arthur and a saint or someone. Where history blurs with legend is always interesting 🤔
Yeah............Ok! So What!?!?!
Yeah, the trading expedition to Lindisfarne...
Neat thought except the Norse were raiding in modern day russia at the same time
We're fans of you, too!
This is absolutely fascinating
Apparently Sabine did a few of these. I should revive the rest. But, I found it like passing the baton from one paranormal mythos writer to the next lol!
Hey your books seems very 8nteresting and immersiv. Def reading it ❤❤❤
Hope you enjoy it!
never give up whatever you do❤❤❤🎉
Aww thank you!
Did you write that?
The excerpt I read, yes. That's from my novel "Cedric: The Demonic Knight" (by Valerie Willis) which can be found on my website, tiktok shop, or where books are sold. As for making up the heliodromos, no. I stumbled on it researching and thought it deserved to be reintroduced into the world.
@@willisauthor i'll definitely have to read it then!

I want to step on it
Thank you SO MUCH! Been using Indesign for 20 years and this for endnotes and restarting footnotes has been accomplished by a ridiculous workaround. You ROCK!
It took me a while to figure this one out and when I did figure this much out... had to share!

if your job requires a keyboard then how do you not remember the layout
At this point it's a strange muscle memory reflex, not necessarily acknowledgment of visually aware of placement? Maybe kinetic movement memorization over actual visually mapping. Without the keys in place I could probably still type, but visually mapping them in the right way breaks my brain.
@@willisauthoryeah the same happens i know how to type without looking but like i forget where some of the keys are this is why i like 60% boards
@@OZZIEBUILDING It's a surreal sensation to me! Glad to know I'm not alone!
Thank you Valerie. I was trying it out on Creative Suite InDesign 2023 and it looks like it isn't working. Any idea how to fix it? Is there a new version that will work with Creative Suite 2023? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you.
I haven't had to do this. My aim is often to educate my clients to follow industry expectations for a more professional representation these days. So, I haven't tried this technique in teh recent version of InDesign (2023 and 2024)
Thank you for this. Can't believe it's 2023 though and the default endnote controls are so deficient.
I don't think they will ever intend to make it anymore flexible. It's the idea of forcing publishing industry like to follow Chicago Manual Style.
Just exactly what I needed! Thank you!
Thanks Valerie, this saved me!
It took me a long time to figure it out! But I had to share in hopes of helping fellow typesetters!
If you place your chapters as linked documents, you can have the endnotes saved within each word document and it will restart the numbering for you in InDesign. Just another option if the idea of having to use scripts is as off putting for you as it is for me!
The standard script I have doesn't give the option to select to split the story before the chapter beginning. Can you share the script that you have?
It seems that I found the answer here: creativepro.com/how-to-split-long-story-into-smaller-pieces-unthreading-middle-story/
@@danielam1992 Yes, I also included in the Video description. I how the script and my video helped out. It took me forever to figure out this solution for several client jobs I had. It seems to be something we've all begged on Adobe's forums to be able to do forever (2017 for sure).
@@willisauthor Ah yes, I completely missed it in the description below. That would have saved me some time. Yes, I don't know how something so basic isn't already included. Imagine having to put the endnotes after each chapter not at the end of the book...nightmare!
@@danielam1992 Doing one of those today T_T. But using this method, I just have to drag and drop the pages behind the split sections/chapters O_o
Very helpful! Thanks so much!
I also use this method, but now I need a different solution. There are both endnotes and footnotes in a document I work with. In each section, the endnotes start at a number, but the footnotes continue exactly from the previous sections. How can we do that?
Oh wow! I've never encountered both. Lately I try to recommend to my customers to go all in with footnotes since Amazon and other ebook vendors prefer them (I've had to redesign books this year due to quality flags or blocked titles for this reason only). My concern for readers in your scenario is this could create a lot of confusion if they are using the same numbering system. They don't know if they should be looking in the back, at the end of chapters, or at the bottom of the page at any given moment. Consistency in layout can go a long way for reading comprehension, immersion, and readability. I strongly would advice the client to choose one and move forward from there. This could even create a flag with a ebook vendor for having both present or perhaps cause bigger XML/HTML5/CSS3 issues when you export a EPUB/MOBI file.
@@willisauthor You are correct in what you say, but the document I am working on is a translation. Footnotes that are not in the original are included in the book in order to explain some terms. So I have to use both styles. I think it is ridiculous that the Adobe software team did not add the "section" option for footnotes to the endnotes. At worst, I convert the endnotes to plain text and reassemble the text fields after the work is done. Thank you for your attention and response. Knowledge increases as it is shared. Stay healthy.
@@aykutkaplan9071 Yikes. Yea, converting breaks it hard... it was one of the ways I was trying to find a solution for the renumbering endnotes, so I know what a mess that makes. Wish I had a solution... but this may be a trail and error occasion. The best of luck tackling this, Aykut! Not an easy job you have before you!
@@willisauthor Thanks Valerie. I hope Adobe fixes this problem with an update.
