3:20 transmission fluid flush??
I am sorry, what is the question?
I'm trying to repair my 1997 Tacoma Extra Cab's oil pan gasket, but the rear of the pan looks nothing like that. I want there to be a dust cover but instead it is a thick piece of iron with webbing, I'm afraid it's part of the transmission, I have an automatic tranny. Is that a manual? I can try and take a picture. But I am vexed. 3:22 into the video.
Thanks for your question, its an automatic. The cover is the flywheel cover. Feel free to send a pic. The email is under the "About" heading. Does the engine look the same from the top with the hood popped open?
@@HomeownerDIY It appears my last comment was deleted. Weird. Here is the pic I took. I don't think YT like people posting links in comments for I don't know why. zettix.com/taco/IMG_20241009_161323458.jpg
@@HomeownerDIY Hello, I've replied twice with URLs but YT just removes them. I have a pic on my web site, and a pdf of the repair manual. I'll send both links to you, but your email is not in the description.
@@bansheedearg my email is wittlekat@hotmail.com FYI, if you click on "more" for the decription, the email can be found just below "Channel details" Send me a pic and l will what l can do to help you.
I saw the pic that you posted in the comments, can you take another one more zoomed out? Its too tight to see what part of the engine the pic is from.
Thanks
Great video
4:20 so besides cleaning that section of the engine why did you take this sprocket out?
Thanks for your question, l only took it off to clean. You dont need to take it off. Chances are you will knock it off anyway in such a tight space.
Thanks, we will see what happens
@@RoseGalliart If you have any questions, please come and ask!! I will do my best!!
Great preventative job!
There is also another seal on the distributor shaft that is prone to leaking. You should replace both when taking it all apart.
Thanks for you comment, where is the other one? I dont remember seeing another one.
@HomeownerDIY you have to remove all the internal parts then you can slide out the shaft.
Thanks for your response, my Civic leaks oil every where. If l did a rebuilt then l agree, replace the seal as well.
Toilet has to be downstairs steam or lowest fixture in the bathroom group. Bathroom group should be in the same floor level. Everything has to be on the same level with 1/4 per foot slope. Your second example is not up to code. First is good 👍🏼
Thanks for comment. In Canada, both examples shown are allowed. Here either lowest fixture has to be the toilet or symmetricially connected. Of course, different places have different codes but both shown are legal in Canada.
I wanted to buy this machine, can you please share your review?? Since it doesn't have heat air drying option
Thanks for your question, l was only paid to install the unit. All l can say is l didnt hear any complaints after my install. Please check online reviews for this unit. Hope that helps.
Straight to the point no BS. Thank you
Very detailed video. Thank you
I believe this is called MDF. I might be wrong.
Thanks for your comment, yes its MDF. No matter what the material is, following this principle will ensure you dont break out the opposite side of a cabinet.
Thank you so much for this video! Saved me a few hundred & instructions were very easy to follow!
Glad to of helped!!
Does the 3 to 4 inch rule apply to 1/2 inch drywall? Or was it 5/8th? I probably need to just buy some and test it myself lol. Thanks if you have input though
Thanks for your question, l would say it works for 1/2 or thicker. 3/8? Not sure why anyone would use something so thin to begin with...
Thank you for the refresher course!
I can't get the 1 touch auto window on drivers side to work on my 98' Buick Regal. Tried the hold down afew seconds after window down, then same for window up but no luck. Anyone know how to reset this?
Thanks for your question, so the window rolls down but not back up? I have never heard of a reset for power windows.
@@HomeownerDIY all windows work like they should just the auto 1 touch isn't working for the drivers like it says on the window switch button.
@@meep2059 It sounds like an issue with the switch, could you flip the switch to the passenger side and see if you have the same problem?
Yea buddy b grateful you got that kind of mileage on the truck!
Also, great video! Very well described!
I just followed the same process today with my Toyota Tacoma 2004 3RZ-FE engine 2.7L 4 cylinders 2WD/RWD. I used the Fel-Pro cork rubber gasket model OS30642C, but the oil pan is still leaking. I am concerned I may have overtightened the cork-rubber gasket, which caused the rubber-cork gasket to break and thus broke the seal.
Do you see if the gasket has been pinched any where?
Hello, I'm from Brazil, can you help me? My table saw is new, it's been used for two days and it's not turning on anymore and there's no burning smell in the engine. Could it be the ignition socket?
Thanks for your question. By "ignition socket" l am assuming you mean electrical outlet? Where you have plugged in the saw, have you tried a lamp? Plug in a lamp, turn it on amd see if you have power.
@@HomeownerDIY Yes, where I connected the socket, there was power, it was working and the next day when I went to turn it on, it started to want to work and turned off and now it doesn't work anymore
@@jacksonsantos8914 Have you hit the reset button?
So it doesn't even matter that the pipe isn't soldered to the flange? Mine was.
Thanks for your question, youre saying the flange was soldered to the pipe?
@@HomeownerDIY Yes. It was difficult but I unsoldered it last night. Today I'll put a new one on properly. If soldering is not necessary that's great. Makes the job simpler for me.
@@dougcox835 I have never seen a flange soldered to the pipe. Its always been flange screwed to the floor and the lead tapped over it.
Can you use gasket sealant rtv also with the gasket
Thanks for your question, yes you can, but what is the reason you would want to use it?
Where is part 2 install of the toilet
Thanks for your question, l never finished this job. The last video in the playlist was the last part of the job l did. Do you want to see toilet install video(s)?

Glad I could help!
My customer have an 1-1/4 copper drain pipe so I’m not gonna mess with it, just notch her fancy floating cabinet
Thanks for your comment, copper drain? It must be like 40 years old. Sometimes its better not to mess with old stuff as it tends to break more easily! If youre going to notch, I suggest to try and use a skill saw or a saw with a circular cutting blade. A sawzall or a jig saw with make a rough cut as it "Tears" instead of cuts. Good luck!!
Anyone have a link to a driverside window regulator for a 2000 sedan?? Ive been searching everywhere and cant find anything. Thanks!
Thanks for your question, have you checked rockauto.com? In my search it comes up that they have them.
@@HomeownerDIY i have, everything that ive seen is for a 2dr coupe or hatch not the 4 door sedan. I would imagine they would be different if the doors and windows on a coupe are bigger then the sedan
Do you have an autowrecker yard you can check?
@@HomeownerDIYi do, just curious is your civic a hatchback/ coupe or a 4dr sedan
@@EnvyDelusions I have a hatchback, but I think parts are the same from 96-2000 even with a sedan. It gets expensive to need specific parts for specific cars.
Great vid thanks due🎉
My basement flooded and we were snubbed by insurance so I'm doing the rebuilding myself, as a complete noobie. These gaps have been keeping me up at night, but this 4 inch rule will eliminate a lot of trouble. Thank you!
If you have any questions when it comes to drywall, please ask. I will do my best to help!
What kind of wrench is that ? the Long handled one?
Thanks for your question, its called a basen wrench. A link is in the description if you want more info on it.
@@HomeownerDIY Thanks for the info ,Im a Electrician but ive never heard of this ,Im Going to pick one up today
@@williepipkins3905 For 2 handle faucets, a basen wrench is a must!
Also called a bench wrench.
@@user-th8fx1yk9k Thanks for your comment, never heard it called that but different places have different names for things?
Appreciate this big dawg. 👍👍
Same problem on multiple solenoids. Remove little red washer worked great after that
Thanks for your comment, so you removed a washer and it worked again? I thought it was a motor issue(electrical problem)
Yes all good I had 4 with no pressure tried one without washer and it had great pressure ,no leak tested it many times, removed the rest . they have been fine for weeks now.

Why didn’t you bolt the sink to the wall?
Thanks for your question, based on the design, the sink doesnt get bolted to the wall, it is supported by the bracket using a "V" shape to hook the sink to the bracket. Hope that helps.
Yep, anything mechanical just replace good advice!
Hell that staircase doesn’t look bad at all for as old as it is, good job with the ongoing maintenance !
Thank you for making this video on this model. I’m seriously considering buying it.
Great info, thank you!
Thx bro 🙏
Hi Homeowner DIY. Nice job on that sink installation. Thank you for making and posting this video. Question, kindly, ¿Is this sink ADA compliant? That is, ¿will that bracket the sink hangs on strong enough to qualify for ADA approval, please? Reason for asking is, I'd like to install a similar sink in our home for an elderly parent. Thank you.
Thanks for your question, what does ADA stand for? l will look into it when l know what it means.
@@HomeownerDIY (ADA: Americans with Disabilities Act; Essentially, for folks with some physical impairment that makes use of standard bathroom/kitchen/entryways/etc difficult). That's ok, sir. Please don't use your time thus. I will research on the use of such a brace as you've installed and it's static force limits. Thank you for the kindness of a reply and making & posting your video. God[Bible] Bless you.
Thanks for your follow up, in the literature it doesnt say anything for ADA compliance. I will tell you this, based on the way l installed it, the sink would break before the mounting bracket and backing would fail. I over build because l believe in doing things right the first time. I am confident with what l have done, you will have no problem in your situation. Hope that helps.
@@HomeownerDIY Thank you for the reply and checking on the ADA compliance question. You did do an excellent job on that sink installation and it does look like it would support a good amount of weight. Thank you for the help. I appreciate it. God[Bible] Bless.
Im about to do this on a 3800 series 2 in a week or so and have been watching a lot of videos and how tos and I always come to a question about it being true 50/50 when complete. If your adding watter to the block to flush it, what about the water that is still in there that didnt get flushed out? You added 50/50 on top of that so wouldnt the whole system not be 50/50 now and more along the lines of 40 coolant 60 water? Did I miss something? thanks for the video. yours is the easiest to follow
Thanks for your question, l had the exact same thought when l did the flush myself. Doesnt water in the system dilute the actual coolant? I have never had a problem, what your asking is a great question, and l dont have an answer other than l have never ran into issues doing it this way.
@@HomeownerDIY Maybe Im over thinking it too but in our climate (Newfoundland) I really dont want to take the chance on screwing something major up. Ill be doing it on a near mint 05 Monte Carlo SS Supercharged with 51k kms. Ive turned this internet machine upside down trying to shake out an answer and it seems its only me and you have this thought lol. thanks a lot for taking the time to reply
@@UndeadSpaceMonkey1 If you want to play it safe(er) do the coolant flush like l did, once the car is cool, drain the rad and refill. Drive the car allow it to hit operating temp, let it cool and drain/refill the rad again. By doing this you will be draining the diluted coolant. Drain/refill 2x after the flush and you will have probably 80% 50/50. It will take abit of time and $$ but that is how l would get the water out of the system. Hope that helps.
@@HomeownerDIY Sure do. thanks again man much appreicated
@HomeownerDIY You're supposed to drain the engine block too.
Excellent!!!
Very informative.
Thanks for this video it helped me a lot.
How long have u had the car oh you mention 20yrs? Did u put green in their before..is that how its gunked up?? I jus got done repairing my upper n lower intake ..I also got gunk in neck and resivor only 80000 yr2000 regal i jus dont inderstand the gunk buildup and never mix colants
Thanks for your question, we have had the car since since 2002. I have done 3-4 flushes over the years. The car isnt driven much, 300miles/500km a year. My brother 🤬 up the cooling system when he mixed green into the Dexcool system😫
@HomeownerDIY oh I see..wow man you don't drive it much.. I do 2500 miles a yr.. great engines after you fix the stupid GM design intake manifold gaskets..I will keep up on the collant drains every 2 yrs! Thank you!
My brother drove the car later on. I bought my firs car in 2004. My brother neglected the car so badly when he returned it it needed 7K worth of work to fix all the problems. He was the one that mixed the different coolants. Im sure he would of also thrown in any type of oil as well.
@HomeownerDIY well iam glad your taken care of it now..
I do what l need to to keep it on the road.😁
Thanks for the vid 👍🏽 Saving me ab $140. Also any chance you're from Michigan? 😂 you have a strong accent
Thanks for the comment, l am Canadian eh!!! I live in Vancouver just North of Seattle.
Nitly done
Im at 125k miles on my d16y8 civic. I believe i have an exhaust leak or header leak, my car has exhaust particulate in the coolant ans its basically a carbon sludge. It apparently blocked up my lower rad hose, and the hose blew about 2 months ago. I replaced it, and the rad, and im planning on doing a flush. I was going to firstly use water, then run prestone coolant system cleaner, then flush it again. The prestone reccomends running it for 3 to 6 hours so id be driving around town for maybe an hour at a time, was thinking about 4hrs total. I have carbon sludge in my overflow resi. After replacing the lower hose, last week my car overheated bad out of nowhere. I let it cool and drove home, burped it and now its running fine. So im assuming its clogging. I dont think its a head gasket since my oil is clean. My theory is that my intake is sucking in exhaust fumes from my header leak. Im doimg a compression test this weekend after i do this flushing. Any opinions or thoughts on next steps? Or does my plan sound ok? I do have a new thermostat i can toss in aswell..but im convinced it was clogged.
Thanks for you question, can you send me a pic to my email under the "About" heading or post a video of the coolant in the reservoir. I need to see what this sludge looks like. I have some questions after I see what the coolant looks like.
@@HomeownerDIY awesome appreciate it. im actually pretty positive it's a premature head gasket failure now. car does run fine, no issues since i burped/unclogged it. im almost positive its a wet carbon buildup.. will send you an email tomorrow with pictures and a coolant sample picture! ty brother.
Ill be doing it tomorrow got caught up with mad work. Appreciate you bro @HomeownerDIY
