Please Talk About These Games More: A Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Seasons Retrospective
Status Update: How're ya faring thus far in the Hunger Strike demand for the Oracle Remakes?
My internal thoughts all sound like Eddie Vedder and so far no response from Nintendo... but I'm still optimistic
sailing in wind waker was the worst part for me - killed the pace of the game on several occasions. Love everything else about it, but I constantly found myself dropping playthroughs cause I didn't wanna spend the next 10 minutes doing nothing but fkn sailing. Wolf Link is def edgy for edgy's sake - but at least you're doing something as him
Yeaaahhh but the wolf mechanics were so janky and choppy It just made me work that much harder to get back to Link mode lol As for Windwaker the sailing can be very tedious, but at least there's islands, submarines, treasure, sea monsters, etc to discover along the way. Wolf Link purely exists to find a bunch of bugs for the sole purpose of not having to be wolf Link anymore lol
@ agreed, if you ain’t using the homing attack - it stinks. That clip of you trying to chomp the light beetle was funny as hell lmao
dude, killer commentary. subbed
Hey thanks buddy! I appreciate that!
i doubt they are going to remake those games anytime soon, they are some of the least popular zelda games and sold poorly considering their high quality, now that grezzo released a brand new 2D zelda game, i bet that they will be focused on new games rather than oracle remakes, that being said, i can see it coming towards the end of the switch 2's life cycle
Yeah, this vid was made before Echoes was announced lol
@@StoneyRPG i know, just giving an up to date point of view
@fausthanos08 I agree end of the switch 2 is probably most likely, maybe halfway through like they did Awakening HD, but that's optimistic lol
My controversial top 10 Zelda list 🛡️🙏 #1 Majora’s Mask #2 Twilight Princess #3 A Link Between Worlds #4 Ocarina of Time #5 Breath of the Wild #6 A Link To The Past #7 Minish Cap #8 Zelda 2: Adventures of Link #9 Link’s Awakening #10 Legend of Zelda(original)
Ayyeee that's a solid list buddy I give respect to anyone who shows Minish Cap love 👌
13:22 "What does turning Link into a wolf add to this game's story?" I can answer that. It doesn't specifically have to do with him being a wolf, but being an animal feared by ordinary people and unable to communicate with them. The wolf transformation actually adds a _lot_ of suspense and tension to the game's story, because throughout the Twilight segments Link is isolated from other people at the same time that both he and they are going through the worst disasters of their lives. As a wolf, you can't offer comfort to anyone who's suffering or be comforted in return; the best you can do is protect them from imminent danger (running the risk of that gesture being misinterpreted) and then slink away into the shadows. This form also makes Link more dependent on Midna to manipulate things designed for humans, and that's important because if Link didn't need Midna he'd run away from her. Midna is not initially a kind or trustworthy character. Imagine if you entered Kakariko Village for the first time as a human instead of a wolf. In that case, when Link sees the other village children he could run right up to them and have an emotional reunion, then let them know what's going on and assure them that he's going to fix it. That would dispel the tension of the Twilight almost completely. Fear would be replaced by relief. By forcing Link into a form where he can listen to them but can't respond, Twilight Princess extends that feeling of sadness and anxiety over a much longer period of time and makes the feeling more complex. This is probably one of the things that many players dislike about Twilight Princess, because it tips the emotional balance heavily toward negative feelings, but from an artistic standpoint this was the right choice. It complements the setting and story much better than generic upbeat heroism would have. So your point about Link being a snow leopard working just as well is technically true, but irrelevant to the main point. Link needed to turn into an animal of some sort for this game's story to work. He didn't have to turn into a wolf, but he had to turn into _something_ and it might as well be a wolf because that's a powerful symbol representing bravery, loneliness and the natural world in general.
Very interesting take! I agree The Wolf aspect conveys the tone of the game and many of it's elements well. If the mechanic had been implemented better it could potentially have been looked back on as one of the best zelda gimmicks yet
You said there would be no jokes you filthy liar!
3:17 you just gave me an idea for a “Chalk Zone” game like holy fuhhhhh they should do that
Yo a chalkzone game would be DOPE and the level design writes itself!
@@StoneyRPG hahah epic af
Hey I992 baby, I’m right there with ya 😅
Lol look at us just a couple of 30 somethings
PS5 has like 2 games, LOL!
Yeah I was trying to be generous lol
Ur a good creator man. Subbed
Eh, I think "good" is a little much, but I really appreciate that, friend
rinse and repeat every year we get the same thing. how long were the snes and nes on the market hint a lot longer than 8 years smae with the gameboy.
Yeah I didn't include the Gameboy as the video was focused on the Home Consoles. And the NES was replaced by the SNES after 7 1/2 years, and the SNES was replaced by the N64 after 6 so I'm not really sure what you mean by "longer than 8 years" .... but hey, thanks for watchin!
@StoneyRPG the nes/famicon lasted a lot longer in japan as did the super famicon. the gameboy lasted for a phenomenal amount of time.
The NES/famicom launched in Japan in July of 1983, and The SNES launched in Japan November 1990, that's 7 and a half years my man, I think you're counting wrong. And yes, like I said, I wasn't including Handhelds, strictly home consoles
@StoneyRPG of course the famicon was still in production until 2003.
@poil8351 okay? And the switch will remain in production as well. Again, not really sure what point you're trying to make. We're talking CONSOLE GENERATION. Console release to Console release. Not how long each one remained in production. The switch will be the longest Nintendo home console generation. That is not my opinion, that is a fact of time and math. I'm sorry that seems to bother you so much lol
My list: 1. Totk 2. Botw 3. Smash Ultimate 4. Mariokart 8 5. Super Mario Wonder
Fantastic list, sir 👌
Nintendo stuck to their IPs (their main ones anyway) for console generation after console generation. Kids today know who Kirby is. Can you imagine if Nintendo ignored Kirby? We'd never have gotten Forgotten Lands.
For real, like why abandon these beloved series? At some point Sony started taking themselves too seriously, and shifted focus from games like Sly and Jak and prioritized TLOU and Uncharted
@@StoneyRPG chasing movies. They are treating PS5 Pro like a fancy new bluray player/streaming box.
Kojima had too much of an effect on them lol
Can Sony turn it around?? What do you guys think about Sony's current situation?
Soul Reaver Remasters and Lunar SilverStar/Eternal Blue coming back is a good start. Not a GREAT start, but SOMETHING. You don't even need the PS5 for them, they're on PS4!
Not only that but they're coming to Xbox and Switch too 😭😭 Sony is shooting themselves in the foot Hardware-wise with their lack of exclusives, they're not giving anyone a reason to buy a PS5, let alone a pro
Awesome list, a lot of my favourites are on here as well. i don't think i'm ready to move on from the switch yet! there are still a lot of games from it that i really want to check out.
Here's to praying the next one is backwards compatible because I'm in the same boat lol
If I lock in and learn gamemaker I am probably going to make a fan remake of these two
Please, PLEASE do. I don't know how much more temple of the dog I can take
Awesome video! So many amazing games on the switch! A few others that I loved as well are DK tropical feeeze, sonic frontiers, New Pokémon snap and Ninja Turtles shredders revenge ❤️
Aww man Tropical Freeze and Shredders revenge JUST missed out on the list! It's crazy how many quality games we had on this thing, really made the list hard to put together lol and thanks for watching!
Thank you for giving TOTK the appreciation it deserves. I like BOTW a lot, but I love TOTK so much more. It’s a way better game, yet people’s biases favoring BOTW are clouding their judgment.
100% agreed, idk what all of these channels are talking about "BOTW was better" when it's just objectively not true. TOTK is an improvement in every conceivable aspect
@@StoneyRPGhappy to hear this since I'm replying botw just to get totk later (I first played botw in 2019 and pre much forgot everything) however I kept hearing negatives on totk
I didnt have this much fun watching a video in a while, i feel retarded af laughing at bird sounds 5/5
The Switch shows very clearly, what Microsoft and Sony seem to struggle to understand - it’s not about raw graphics and cpu power - gaming is first and foremost supposed to be FUN! I don’t care if your new game has photorealistic graphics - why should I pay 70€ for a game that still requires me to pay for in game lootboxes and upgrades, as well as not running well, because they thought that crunching their devs would help? EVERYONE can find something on the switch! I just know, even if my game is running well on my PC, that it will be more fun for me on my Switch! I’m not necessarily looking forward that much to the new generation since I love my Switch so much, but there are a few things I would love to make a comeback: I would love a new version of Miis, and a REALLY GOOD Nintendo Sports game similar to Wii Sports Resort, and some of the experimental OS features of the late 2000s. I would love Nintendo News and Weather to make a comeback (aren’t we all paying for online anyways? Let’s give us a bit more to appreciate…) as well as things like Picto Chat and Flipnote! I imagine that especially something like picto chat could be fun, since I live in student accommodation now and not just with my family like I did as a child. Why do I remember all of them so clearly? Well… I still own my DSi as well as my Wii, so I guess, my Switch, even if I buy the new one eventually, won‘t completely fall out of use!
Bro, you really went with the lamest bird sounds ever. Did you know that there's a bird called the White Bellbird, which sounds like an eas alarm. Or the Shoebill Stork which sounds like a machine gun. Or maybe even the Lyre Bird which can perfectly imitate the sound of a chainsaw! And my man really said "Nahhh, imma use the Barn Swallow" Make it make sense Stoney.
Hey man, those flashy glamour birds get enough attention, somebody's gotta shine a spotlight on the Barn Swallows of the world! And if that someone's gotta be me, so be it.
Fair enough haha. That's actually very considerate of you.
“Clearly I’m not handling it well” 😂😂😂
You just press down and circle on the ps controller to turn around. Also a hard mode is selectable if you beat it on normal.
Yeah I call it the "snap to" in the video and say it helps lol and I love the hard mode! Just wish there was a harder hard mode lol
@@StoneyRPG I got triggered too fast. I shoulda finished the video
@duke3250 hey man, I get it 👍
Mine are: 10. Kirby and the forgotten land. 9. Mario wonder 8. Mario kart 8 deluxe 7. Fire Emblem 3 Houses 6. Metroid Dread. 5. Astral Chain 4. Xenoblade Chronicles 3 3. Smash Ultimate 2. Mario Odyssey 1. BOTW/TOTK For now....i still wanna play Echoes of wisdom, Metroid Prime 4 and Mario and Luigi brothership.
Fantastic list! I wonder if people put Mario Kart 8 at the number 8 spot just for convenience lol Also I know right? I may have to update the list, because it's absolutely insane that we're months away from Switch 2 and still waiting on this many quality titles for the switch lol
My top Switch exclusives: 1. Breath of the Wild 2. Xenoblade 2 3. Mario Odyssey 4. Tiers of the Kingdom 5. Xenoblade 3 6. Astral Chain 7. Metroid Dread 8. Prime 4 (not out yet but so what?) 9. Echoes (not out yet but so what?) 10. Brothership (not out yet but so what?) Honourable mentions to Persona 5 Royal and Nier Automata for being amazing non-exclusive ports.
Lol Echoes and Brothership may knock a couple of these off that's for sure
Metroid dread is my favorite switch game!
You have excellent taste my friend!
You can‘t put a list out just yet. Mario and Luigi Brothership didn‘t come out yet. And I know this game will be good.😢 Still great vid ❤
Yeah between Brothership and Echoes I may have to update the the list later this year lol (which is insane that we're MONTHS away from Switch 2 and still getting quality titles released on Switch!) Also thanks for watching!
@@StoneyRPG True
I got happy as hell when Link's Awakening showed up first. Hell yeah.
Always nice to meet a fellow intellectual
I have bought Mario Kart 8 a total of 3 times and I never had a Wii U, I just keep selling it and then I want it back
What is The name of The piano music you used when you talked about odessey
The track is "Birth" from Galaxy 👍
Damn, switch 2 will be announced tomorrow
Time keeps on slippin
Get em Jade
You forgot to point out that every game on the current Xbox consoles is on Windows. People are opting for Gaming PCs with better performances. The lack of exclusives is the main reason for sales drop.
Excellent point! They'd be far better off as a publisher with how they've been running the business
Perfect review. You deserve more subs/ views
Hey I appreciate that! Thanks for watching!
I've so been looking forward to this!
You've been there from the start Ketz! Sorry for the delay lol
Bio shock and bio shock infinite to me always had that rich kind of atmosphere the deep sea of 1 and the big open sky of infinite I like both greatly even with there flaws but haven’t played two so I gotta try that some day.
Very much agreed, and I would HIGHLY recommend giving 2 a try, it obviously doesn't reach the highs of the other 2, but is still a fantastic game with a story that's a Wildly interesting concept
oh my goodness another new video, thank goodness its on bioshock
Dang famous youtuber Egon watches my videos!!
Well are they getting remakes or no?
Big N-O. Guess I'm listening to this shitty song for at least another year
Check out the original version of the song Torn by Ednaswap Stoney, it kicks serious grunge ass.

@@StoneyRPG as there should be. Lol I’m about to replay the Oracle games again soon.
It's insane how well they hold up. I don't understand how these aren't more beloved
@@StoneyRPG that’s a mystery.
@@StoneyRPG also Subrosia needs to come back.
I am kind of done with Nintendo lately, and don't plan on ever spending money on them again, so understand what i mean when i say if they came out with all 3 originally planned oracle games i would purchase *multiple* switch 2s to play them on, those games were what got me into Zelda
Oh man while I can't agree with the Nintendo sentiment, I 100% agree with you on the oracles. Link to the past introduced me to the series, and the oracles locked me in
If you like a game so much you probably wouldn't be crying that you don't get an underwhelming visual upgrade of it
Congratulations on achieving the dumbest comment in this thread lol "If you like a game so much why would you want a remake of it?" Truly inspiring stuff
@@StoneyRPG you clearly can’t appreciate these games as much as you say you do if you’re whining that they need to be hd
@Rain-wz8fk So no games should get HD remakes Because the originals are all anyone needs? Even games 20+ years old that many people don't have access to? And nobody can enjoy and appreciate old games, and also want modern, HD versions with quality of life improvements? Just verifying that this is actually the argument you're trying to make right now
@StoneyRPG If people want to play the oracle games, there is nothing stopping them.
@Rain-wz8fk And any of my other points? Or are you going to ignore those Because you realize you sound like an idiot There's nothing wrong with wanting remakes of 20+ year old games, idk what to tell you man. Go cry to resident evil 4
