Maximum Operating Depth - OUR MOD | SCUBA THEORY

When we use this term in scuba diving, what are we referring to! As scuba divers, we are limited when we enter the underwater world. We are limited due to the way our body uses and absorbs the gas we breath. For this reason, we have what is called the 'Maximum Operating Depth' of a breathing mixture. Let's talk about GAS limits! What is Partial Pressure? | SCUBA THEORY
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
What is Partial Pressure? As scuba divers, we enter an environment that has a direct effect on the air we breath. As the pressure around us increases, as does the pressure of our gas. To understand what is happening, we must understand a term known as PARTIAL PRESSURE. A term coined by John Dalton in the early 1800. Let's talk about GAS! Take a deeper breath and blow through the nose with more power at the beginning when you start to look up. Experiment with the amount of force blown out through your nose... be mindful however not to be too forceful! You can experiment with the force at which you blow out through your nose whilst always keeping the demonstration slow. Remember clearing your mask multiple times does not mean you are demonstrating the skill incorrectly. Clearing it the first time just makes the demonstration clearer.

I found with the backplate and wing bcd I cant completely empty the BCD to descend because I end up rolling backwards. When I leave just a little in it and empty my lungs its easier to have a little forward tilt.

Amy, thanks SOOOOOOO much for this!! After my initial open water course I was still unable to clear my my mask confidently without breathing water up my nose. Which then meant I was anxious during my first dive (following certification) and was starting to think maybe diving wasn’t for me. I watched your video, practiced as per your guidance in our hostel pool and pretty much immediately got the hang of it and now feel confident - No longer concerned that I may die if my mask comes off during a dive 😂 I was actually able to be present and enjoy myself during my last dive. Just doing things slower and knowing there is no rush was a game changing piece of advice, perhaps for life too! Anyway thanks so much again 🙏🏻 Emma
