I must say i prefer the vintage sound. It really allows that neck pickup to shine through when you have both enguaged.
The internet needs more (sponsor-free and honest) reviews like this. Thanks for putting this out there man!
I really appreciate this, thank you!
I bought 3 player 2 p basses and returned them all . Cracked neck pockets Crap tuners Ng
i,ve gigged with it for over 2 years , for the money it is fantastic and also if anything gets stolen its cheap to replace , and the sansamp patch is very good in ,MHO
Greetings from the future where Epiphone did release the Grabber bass. So your wish was granted :)
Get a phone charger...it works perfect
They modified the pickups and bridge hardware too per fender website.
Hehe, I did the same thing with my 2002 EBMM Sterling 4H, but... 1. Changed the ceramic MM humbucker to a passive Häussel MM pickup (wired to my specs), and added Fender Pure Vintage '63 P-Bass PUs. 2. Made the bass passive with a well thought out circuit allowing for serial/paralel/split of the humbucker and 3-way switching between the pickups, as well as mixing the two PUs in the "both" position with a blend pot. And, man, this thing rawcks 😎 TIP1: When you reverse the P-Bass pickups (the D-G PU being on the neck side - like Yamaha did it on the BB300, e.g.), you can place the E-A pickup exactly in it's original Fender position. This is actually also good for a more even tone. TIP2: With the reduced string spacing of the Sterling bass (> Jazz Bass like neck), I put the Fender Pickups in a little slanted, so the strings really run dead center between the poles.
Heart of the Sunrise ! Ok, you’re cool.
499 subscribers? I’ll subscribe just to make it 500. Oh hey, you’re playing Jaco?? Ok, 500 it is.
Lmao, thank you.
Boring is good
Great review. Once again you have taken a unique perspective that I have not heard before. Now I feel like I know WHY everyone seems to love this bass. My cat has bombed my business phone calls in the past so this video resonated with me from that perspective also. Why do they do that?
I think the issues of neck dive and right arm comfort are solved by wearing your strap a little higher. I just got this bass and it doesn't fall at all. Also because the body is so thin my right arm wraps around it well and doesn't rub on the edge.
So nobody has claimed their upright yet I see 🤔. That's convenient for you. I would also suggest your videos would sound more adult-like if you didn't drop the f-bomb all the time? I'm not a square or anything but you want to cater to all demographics, don't you? Just some constructive criticism. Buttercream is one of my favorite as well
Agree on the language. Lose the naughty words and let more of the unique and attractive personality come through. I've seen other channels suffer because of this (I'm thinking of a particular luthier). It's hard to share a video full of great stuff with someone else, especially a younger player, when it's got rough language in it. The Floof perspective is much like many bass players and not like other RUclipsrs in that Floof doesn't have an unlimited budget. He thinks about, "What if I have to sell this later?", "How can I get the most quality and flexibility for my money" etc. Other toobers mention this but Floof is living it (at this time). More Floof, less F*** and S***. Great stuff Floof. All the best to you!
Like the script, very entertaining and interesting.
Thank you, I will slowly get better at not looking like Floof - The Ipad Kid
One thing P-Basses have which other basses lack is simpicity. There is no elaborate active circuitry, preamps, batteries, EQ controls and the like. It's just a single pickup, volume tone and jack. That also makes them easier to mod.
Boring in the bass world is generally good (at least on the recording side of things & working with producers & artists).
Own that bass, too. Swapped the pickup for a 60s Aguilar and the tuners for Hipshots, love it 😁
P bass is all I know. I started with a squire 60s P that was great at the time but mediocre compared to my Fender vintera I 50s p bass, I got a good price for it right before the vintera II came out. That single bass has given me the sounds I want, and I don't think I could bring myself to use anything else, although I do want to try a jazz or stingray at some point.
Stingrays are great with flats.
Agreed!@@estebanb7166
Are my eyes deceiving me or do those knobs that are loose have set screws in them?
You are correct! They do have set screws in them, however they don't sit 100% perfect on the shaft and with enough use come loose. I've had this happen twice after using the bass a ton. I've started carrying a small flathead screwdriver because of it... However I have heard some locktight does solve the issue so it's far from a deal breaker.
Sounds a lot like a Warwick GPS Corvette (i think thats what theyre called). Which would make sense if you compare the pickup placements
My favorite toy ,tool
Chewed out by a beaver! 😂 I’ve been playing bass for almost 40 years, I bought one of these, not because it’s a great playing instrument, because I wanted to experiment with modding a bass. I’d rather trash one of these instead of a quality bass, so this is a good bass for learning, if you want to learn be a luthier. You didn’t mention the pickups, while functional they have maybe 10 winds around the barely magnetic poles. Definitely not quality and I would recommend a Squire or and Ibanez for a beginner bass. Glarry and the other cheap ones you can buy are not cheap after you upgrade them to make them playable. But I’d still rather trash one of these learning to mod over another brand. Good honest video!👍
Stop talking, let me just listen
😐 meh...a poor mechanic blames the tools.
This bass player deserves more attention
I have a G1xFour that I hacked to be a B1xFour when I switched over to bass as my main instrument. Even better, someone's compressed a bunch of the effects so you can fit more on, and I could keep soem guitar stuff. I'm honestly very impressed with it's Darkglass and SVT emulations. The quality of the effects goes up and down - a lot of them are only "okay" but there's some gems in there for sure.
Try using a tuner on notes up and down the neck- DRs have appalling intonation but they do SOUND great. SITs have the best intonation from my experience
Tort scratchplate looks great on black Floofster.
Definitely think it can, but on this bass it's not for me
How is the neck dive on this one?
It's not fantastic. The body is small on a full scale neck lol
it's back!
This video froze my pc and made me restart it

Nice!
FIRST!
Your hair is beautiful
Thank you!
I buy a lot of bass strings because of you lmao
Nice shirt
damn, this is amazing 🤘 nicely done!
Awesome!
Thank you! I agree with you 100% about the Chromes and EB Cobalt Flats (love the EB Groups though). Put ENR1 Half Rounds on a Stingray for a finger funk project (record well and sit in the pocket live with some cut) and they were perfect. I made the choice as half-rounds were used on the Ray that Bernard Edwards used in early Chic recordings (by most accounts as he said he used whatever strings came on the Ray -. GHS Brite Flats - which I detest) - so this is a nice sub IMO. People hate them and I glad I didn't listen. - hope they don't get too popular because trends sent prices up. Might try on my P when its time.
I'm glad you enjoyed them! I should get another set for my ray 🤔
Hey, how about you qualify it with the fact that Fender charges more for a gig bag. Made in China. Plywood? Chuck it off of a mountain? What do I do now ? Wow, that’s putting yourself on a mountain. Let’s say this Bass isn’t for a beginner. It’s for a person that knows How to do set ups. Nice obscenities since you are speaking to the students out there. Really dude, I’m not a Glarry fan. I’m just tired of people saying derogatory things about something that costs $80. It’s not supposed to be equivalent to a $500. instrument. It’s not for BEGINNERS. There’s a whole lot of people that understand VALUE. There’s professional musicians, myself included, that enjoy modding cheap guitars for gigging. Open your narrow mind!
NYXL's are my all time favorite strings
I would definitely like to see your string tier list.
You got it! I'm thinking it'll be next week or the week after.
Have you tried the D’Addario XT strings?? Really thin coating on there, a little more slick feeling but feels like normal nickels. I probably am playing less then you but mine are still consistent for about 3 months now after putting them on.
I have not yet, however I think they're going to be soon. Maybe not next, but soon.
@@floofthebassplayergood stuff, curious what you think, only strings I’ve had problems with are Ernie balls and pure blues die on me quickly. Currently using the Daddario xt, balanced tension xl and markbass grooves on my different guitars.
