The reason its so difficult for a rich man to enter heaven is because to stay rich you have to ignore the most important commandments to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbour as yourself. Who would leave themselves hungry, thirsty and without medicine, but rich people see this need and keep their money to themselves.

If you compare this passage to the verses on salvation. We will see that it is literally impossible put someone to be saved without Jesus Christ. So yes literally it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than it is for someone to get saved without Christ

This is an apostolic teaching. Paul received the instructions for the church and its conduct just as Moses received the instructions for Israel and its conduct.
