I listened most of the time at night, when i was a teenager, in the 1980s. I enjoyed the Luxembourg Power play. Remember jingle Station of the 80s . Best Radio station ever. Good old 208 Luxy. 👍

208 metres MW in North West England with all the fading and distortion. Also listened on 49.26 metres Shortwave until closedown after midnight and reception wasn't quite so poor.

I started listening to 1440 Khz back in the early 90s here in Ireland, I used to listen to music at night before I went to sleep on my Walkman in bed and I used to listen later at night during the Summer holidays. I would have been 10 in 1990. Radio fascinated me and still does today and I am an Amateur radio license holder which is a wonderful hobby. I remember at one point 1440 Khz became Der Oldies Sender, a German station. I'm not sure when I stopped listening, perhaps Der oldies Sender went off air and something else replaced it, I can't remember ? It's a real shame they decided to close the transmitter and demolish the site and towers. No preserving such wonderful radio history and they should be ashamed. All across Europe the decline in MW and the demolition to transmitters and masts is really shocking and I wonder what's the real motivation behind it ? Almost every home still has a radio capable of MW reception and cars.

Wat was het geweldig! Het enige station dat, in Nederland, in de buurt van de energie van 208 kwam was Tros radio 3. Beide bestaan niet meer. 😞

This brings back great memories of listening to them on MW as a schoolboy hungry for pop music in the mid to late 70’s from Asia! Signals were so strong that it was literally my breakfast show while getting ready for school.
