The Dirt Had Other Plans | Mavora Lake Track on 450MT
Another epic day on the saddle.
So we originally planned to get to Boundary Hut on this mission but the trail had other plans. The gravel beach on the lake was a bit too tricky for our slick road biased tires, we did our best but the trail fought back, except Steve who was a beast on these trails its his playground. The experience made the journey epic! We then head off to Von Rd which was equally as fun and a fast gravel road. We also came across the Postie bike rally, those guys are sending it.

Great ride and adventure, well done for keeping going and completing it. Even a relatively lighter adv bike becomes a very big lump when you’re tired and out of breath. Only point I think worth making is when filming these rides and trying to keep up a commentary I’m convinced it doesn’t help your concentration. It’s a bit like the golden rule of no talking between a commercial airline crew when on final approach unless absolutely critical. Those rivers crossing need your absolute commitment and focus. Looked like a lot of fun.😃👍

I've noticed it also. I had the Benelli TRK 500 doing the same. Fluffy compression. Shit spark plug perhaps? I'm not a mechanic, but I am assuming the spark gap needs a tap back in? (Gauge tool)
Check your traction control. This is the culprit on my case. Make sure its of when on slippery stuff
He's on 2nd when the bike stalled.
Hey how is the MT450 compared to the g310gs? I've got the the 310 and thinking to upgrade to the 450. Is it worth it?
@@matty27c i had two 310s before i got into 450mt. I spent quite a bit of fortune making it more off road ready like the tubeless spoke wheels. Lots of pros jumping ship. Its worth it.
If you like riding in that kind of weather and terrain, it would be wise to invest in waterproof heated grips and heated seat (emphasis on waterproof). Your body will thank you.

Ha, yes when it stalled leaving the hut near the end and then you thought it's loosing power, I was like Traction Control! You forgot to put it back into Off Road Mode. Been there, done that lol
What a newbie mistake eh.. I was having so much fun I didnt realize offroad mode wasnt on. I pressed the button while the bike was still running, but then I realized later it needs to be on a certain speed for the offroad mode to stay on.
@@lleelwanderersyou can activate Off Road at any speed but must release the throttle as well after pushing the button for about 5 seconds. I look forward to my next opportunity to get down there, Nevis is a favorite.

@@lleelwanderers not named yet, and wouldn't be until '27, and there night be patches, workarounds, or us based servers by then, since it's about data collection and ECU management by adversarial governments. Right now the holdup seems to be EPA (environmental protection agency) paperwork, and the fact that they cannot keep up with new models entering the country, or CF Moto filing improperly...

Wow. It doesn't even sound like it's flaming out. It kinda sounds like it has a bad fuel to air mix or just plain bad fuel. Was it doing this from new? Or just started? You can here valve flutter and a little pop as you give it gas. Maybe the valves need to be checked? Could be an exhaust valve. Sounds like an exhaust valve.

Nice riding! Did you put the bike in offroad mode? Otherwise the traction control will kick in when your wheel spins and this may lead to the engine shutting off. It's way easier to climb a muddy and snowy hill in offroad mode with just one click on the dedicated button. Keep up the good stuff, I really enjoy my 450mt

Turn bars so the front wheel is pointed to the sky. Make sure you’re in gear, or strap the front brake. Squat with your hands cupped around the bar end closest to the ground. Stand up and walk forward towards the bike as you lift - the principle of leverage makes it far easier to lift.

@@TheVitaaa i havent ridden the Himi. I wanted to test drive one. The 450MT is a really well rounded motorcycle. Depending on your taste I think you wont regret any bike you choose. They are almost identical on the paper. The 450mt engine and exhaust note gives it the edge..

Great video, I also consider buying the bike. My only concern is that should I keep my crf 250L for difficult terrains or 450mt would be manageable in those kind of situations as well
Many factors to consider. One is skill. If youre on the advance level CFMOTO will be a weapon. For normal people like me, this bike can pretty much do most if not all the crf250l can do, unless you do hard enduro stuff. The bike feels so light it doesnt scare you doing gnarly stuff. I used to have the CRF250L but I didnt miss it so much. But I am thinking of getting a lighter simple dual sport bike like the KLX 230S. I missed the feeling of having a slim tank and something you could throw in the corners fast and play silly around the trails. Id say keep a dual sport bike in your stable.

@lleelwanderers I'm new to ADV bikes. The 450 Himalayan and this 450 MT are top of my short list. The Tenere 700 is a close 3rd, but $5-8k more w/ necessary accessories for proper off-roading and camping.
@@BackwardTravisty best decision Ive ever made, going from road bike to ADV. Im only a couple of years riding ADV, and I started with dual sport bikes and it gave me needed confidence on bigger and heavier advs like this. If you have the time and patience to develop your skills on adv riding then go for the T7 later. You wont regret either the himi or the 450MT its a great competition almost identical on the spec sheet. This is my first twin cylinder and this just music to the ears and so smooth. This gives 450Mt the edge.
@@lleelwanderers I find no fault with your suggestion. I don't want to bite off more than I can chew. This isn't something that I'll do for a season. I want to do adventure off-roading as part of my lifestyle.
