Is that audio crunching something on the emulator's side or is it a result of recording and compiling the video? Also nice reference to System of a Down.
Probably on the compilation side, I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary when playing it, though I used a low res emulation profile, but I don't think it affects sound.

Your emulator is not doing the color combiner properly... It is supposed to be purple on the clouds. There will probably be issues with soem enemies eyeballs as a result. Glad you enjoyed the romhack!
He probably has per-pixel lighting on, which changes the colors in games and the way things are supposed to be reflected.
