There's nothing more terrifying than to be on a two-lane road and see and remember another vehicle coming straight towards you and not be able to avoid it. The next scary thing is to remember that scene over and over. On May 30th, 2024, I was driving my semi when another semi-driver (I think he fell asleep at the wheel) hit two other commercial vehicles before hitting me at 65 mph head-on. I never lost consciousness, so I remember every single detail. I thank God every day because I'm still here. The man that hit me is not.

This is the exact reason I tried to talk my boyfriend out of buying a motorcycle.

I have absolutely nothing but compassion for this couple and I think they're amazing and beautiful and very resilient. I just could not stomach how the dude sits there at every chance he gets and throws it in her face that he was the one who saved her and he sacrificed all kind of body parts and he sacrificed this that and the other just to try to make sure she was alive and she was the only one that mattered and blah blah blah? Like seriously do you have to throw it in her face like that? The kicker was the look on her face when he says shit like that it's like she winces every single time he does it. Come on dude like everybody knows you're the big bad hero and look you already got her Hook line & sinker she's not going anywhere. You don't have to try so hard to make the rest of the world think you're some big hero. I mean come on you're a veteran of the United States that right there alone classifies you as a freaking hero you don't have to embellish and make her feel like shit every time you say those things. I just got the vibe that you're trying to impress everybody else with what happened to you and that doesn't necessarily make you a hero in that aspect it just kind of makes it sad that you're seeking approval and admiration from other people when the only one that matters is sitting right next to you. She knows what you did for her you don't have to embellish like you do.

I’m definitely not blaming the victims AT ALL…but I just don’t understand the allure to wanting to ride motorcycles. Maybe I’ve seen too many reckless crotch rocket riders weaving traffic. And I know that’s not the same but I still don’t understand why risk so much. I know, I know, car accidents are still dangerous too but motorcycle accidents ughhh! I hope they make that goal and walk down the aisle together❤🎉

DId you get medically discharged from the Guard/Reserve? Did you get any help financially? There are programs. Are you still burdened by overwhelming medical debt?

I too have had a similar experience because of an automobile accident( a 110 mile an hour head on collision) I was in the acute trauma ward for 32 days, didn't walk again for the first 2.5 years and have had 35 surgeries all toll! It definitely changes your entire life!

Get ur lawyer to order judge to Garnish the wages the person who hit yal, an sue them as well they will be forced to sell everything they own to pay for the damages an make that person be responsible for the medical bills. that's sad it hasn't been done yet or pushed to that in a court of law.

As someone who also struggles with a disability, I love the way he told her that he has to marry her because "he broke it, he bought it" that made me laugh.

I live in Gastonia about 5 minutes past ridge road, that is so dangerous especially in the dark </3 I am so so so so so sorry </3. I will think about you both EACH time i drive down that road <3 God said you were meant to be here just a little bit longer <3

Nothing like shared trauma to bring to people closer together

Glad you two survived and have each other. At the age of 52 I had a freak brain hemorrhage. It put me in the hospital for four months, cost 1.05 million and left me hemiplegic and forced me to close a business I spent 25 years building. I still have PTSD and we are still in financial hurt. Stay positive, it will be your super power trust me..

I'm from SC as well. When I was 15 years old I was run over by a drunk , uninsured driver. I was in a coma for two weeks and in the hospital for a month. It changed my life forever. Not one day has passed since then (1988) that I haven't been in major pain. Both physical and mental. PTSD is very real. I am fully disabled now and still I grieve for the life I would've had if not for the "accident". I am divorced and feel like I'm damaged goods and I may very well die all alone someday and that really scares me but I try not to dwell on the past and I lean on my faith to get thru it all. Like you there was no financial settlement either. It's been a real struggle. It's just not fair is it? God doesn't make bad things happen to us but He can use them for good and I've no doubt he'll do that for you guys! My thoughts and prayers go out to you both and I hope and pray things get much, much better for you both physically, mentally and emotionally. Trust in the Lord and He will see you thru!! May God bless the 3 of you with long and happy lives! 🙏
