    After 1995 season only Baltimore Stallions (who just won Grey Cup) and San Antonio Texans (who are the only officially relocated team in CFL history, Sacramento Gold Miners moved to San Antonio to become Texans) were somewhat ready to play in 1996 season... but the fact that NFL announced that Cleveland was going to "relocate" to Baltimore to play in 1996 season just few weeks before Grey Cup made Stallions obsolete... even if the team was actually doing great in terms of attendance (they were second in attendance in 1995 season), but the debt of $800000 and the fact that the team would had to find a new home sealed the deal for them after CFL just gave up on the idea of US expansion when Stallions owner Jim Speros was almost done with the movement of the team to Houston because Houston Oilers were going to relocate and become Tennessee Oilers/Titans. San Antonio Texans owner Fred Anderson (who was actually an owner of World League of American Football team Sacramento Surge that won 1992 World Bowl before the league folded and he was the first owner who got a US franchise in CFL with Surge becoming Gold Miners in 1993) was also looking forward to keep the team in San Antonio... and he actually wanted to help with the move of Barracudas to Shreveport because despite the fact that Pirates were awful and they still have the "record" of the most losses from the start of CFL season with 14 in 1994 (yep, there're no winless seasons in CFL history) attendance of Pirates games in Shreveport were actually somewhat decent and the idea was to move a playoff team in Barracudas to Shreveport so the city would actually be able to enjoy a better team. But it all ended because CFL had enough with all the failures with the US Expansion (outside of Stallions). Jim Speros in the end revived Montreal Alouettes and it fact there were no reigning Grey Cup champion in 1996 CFL season as Stallions (with all other US teams) folded before the start of 1996 season. PS. One of the main reasons why US Expansion didn't work was the fact that teams were not prepared to pay so much to move from one country to the other. Costs were way too high to keep the experiment going.

    Matt Dunigan (Barracudas QB) still works for CFL to this very day as both color commentator and panel analyst. And he's one of the most beloved commentators and analysts for his knowledge of the game and great sense of humor... But he unfortunately broke his hand in home finale against Edmonton Eskimos and that was it for the team that couldn't do much without him and they lost in the South Semifinal (1995 was the only season when CFL changed their division structure from East and West Divisions to North and South Divisions). Dunigan still hold the CFL record for the most passing yards in one game. In 1994, when Dunigan played for Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the game against aforementioned Edmonton Eskimos Matt threw for 713 yards. Dunigan ended his active career next season in Hamilton, he played for Tiger-Cats in 1996 season, started well, went 4-1 until he got severely concussed in the home game against BC Lions. He never played a pro game after that and retired in February of 1997 at the age of 36. Art Williams knew who to pick as a starting QB for the team... but Dunigan unfortunately got extremely unlucky with serious injuries.

  • @teo_heel

    The story of why CFL made US Expansion was a bit wrong. You're right about financial struggles, but CFL didn't want to expand to make the league bigger. CFL wanted to expand to actually save itself with the money gained from new US Expansion teams (and that worked to some extent with Ottawa Rough Riders being destroyed thanks to their incompetent owners who were given a US expansion team as part of the deal to not move Ottawa to US and they gave the league Shreveport Pirates, the worst team in the league history and who were also responsible to the suspension and folding of Ottawa Renegades team in 2005 (that was the second incarnation of CFL team in Ottawa). And it all started with Toronto Argonauts owners with one of the owners being famous Canadian comedian John Candy. Candy was one of the spokespersons for the CFL in the US Expansion... but he passed away before the start of 1994 season. Toronto was maybe the only somewhat financially solid franchize in CFL and they wanted the league to do better and with help from Bruce McNail (the other owner of Toronto during that period) CFL started the expansion with hopes to actually become somewhat financially stable.

The first time they were stolen they were found in the entrance to an apartment complex. I think at least one came up missing again recently and I don't think it's been found. haha that’s wild! Stealing a 200-pound statue twice takes some serious effort (and questionable motivation)! 😂 I can’t believe someone tossed it into Corby Pond (looks like some there's decent catfish in there?)-sounds like a small-town legend in the making. • @johnnymnemonic69
      @johnnymnemonic69 Месяц назад

      @30yearsagotoday well the statues were installed in the early 2000's. The first time they were stolen was about a year or so after that. So it's been about a 20 year span in between. St. Joe is known for a few things... The pony Express started here. Jesse James died here and we have one of the largest park systems in the country. It runs north to south through the entire city. Close to where I'd say the middle of town is there is Corby pond. It's tiny. About 3 acres. But it was recently completely rebuilt 2 summers ago. I'll have to give it a try and let you know what kind of fish they stocked it with lol. But yeah it really is a town legend in the making lol. I'm not exactly sure on who did it but I am pretty sure they were young adults who committed the crime lol. Thanks for the reply and it's been nice chatting with you.

    Not to nitpick or anything, but the Nexus itself wasn't the weapon, it was the Trilithium warhead Soran created to stop all fusion in a star, thus causing it to collapse and alter the gravitational effects in a certain area of space, forcing the Nexus to change course to a planet he could safely enter it on. Yes, I know it's not nearly as succinct, but it makes a bit more sense than saying the Nexus itself is a weapon. Although I guess it technically could be since you could emerge from it at any time and any place (which was a bit of poor writing since it brings up too many questions) and literally change the past.
