If you're using the varia randomizer, you can set those ammo ratios under the advanced tab if you dont' want stupid amounts of supers and bombs. 4.6/1/1 is vanilla, then click the "strict ammo distribution" switch. I usually like 4.0/1.3/1.3 personally. Btw, that's the number of pickups you will find: 40 missile, 13 supers, and 13 bombs.
