    bro the end of your videos are always up beat and motivational to me for some reason. while im struggling with my yaris with zero way to make income, i have to also remind myself ive had a few victories yesterday removing the nut with the magnet and getting the stud rod out without breaking anything. now im just waiting on that rod from toyota which they say will take a week. a whole week or two without income is a death blow to me esp with need to pay rent etc etc blah blah. BUT i have to remind myself as you said 'yeah there will be more problems ahead but ive made it pretty far'... so i just have to keep on pushing like you. thats why i tune in every morning for the daily car talk lol

    Check the in tank fuel pump. It's likely to be clogged from the fuel gone bad from sitting to long. You may want to flush the fuel line all the way to the injectors.

    congrats on getting it done! dude i was trying to do a thorttle cleaning and when i went torque it on, i misread 80 inch to 80 ft pound. so i blew the two stud bolts that are on the intake manifold. no head on them now. then i tried to do some youtube tricks of two nuts to grip on it, and the screws fell into the hole of the manifold down the black hole! so now i got two bolts without heads and two screw heads floating around the bottom of the manifold. after the initial panic, i came up with the following options - get a flexible magnet pick up tool and somehow fish inside the hole...i dont have much high hopes of this as i cant really twist and turn it inside. but thats been ordered on amazon _ remove the headless bolt with a bolt extractor...ordred that as well, i really hope that works to remove the other one - find the right bolt substitute - if the above doeesnt work, then ill have to get a new intake manifold ... :((( _ lastly, im all in street parking so i have to get this alld one within a week, or its $75 penalty completely broke to get a mechanic to fix this...and as i solely depend on ubereats, i dont have another car to drive... so no car, no income... no family to help (millionare brother laughs, insulted, kicked me while im down .... typical) maybe you have some thoughts on this? is my plan okay? its really the only thing i can think of. i watch your last few videos for inspiration to give me condience that i can push through and over come this death blow

    • @aftereartharcade
      @aftereartharcade 2 дня назад

      Oh man... That is a bit sticky of a situation you got! I think the bolt extractor is a solid plan, but how much would another intake manifold cost to get one from a junkyard? I'm having a hard time figuring out where the bolt head fell down? is it inside the intake manifold? You could remove it. I think the studs are on the engine side so you would be bolting the intake to the engine so those bolts broke correct? Keep me updated. If you want email me some pictures ill do what i can do help!

    maybe a heat gun (ie flame) on it will heat up the metal and then cause it to expand and loosen up. then give it a wack. also you should always use water when drilling as that helps act as a coolant/insulator so the drill bit doesnt die because of the friction. though probably if it did then that means the hardness of the drill is less than the other metal. you may need a diamond one lol

    • @aftereartharcade

    Where the oil filter is.. is a sandwich plate that seperates oil to the oil cooler and the filter. They are a PITA to mess with. You can reseal them. Just a couple of O rings. But first. I would change the cam cover gaskets. And the distributor O ring. I would bet the Distributor O ring is causeing the smoke and the drip on that bolt. The cam covers is causing the oil to leak into the vally. Also note that you will need some RTV up by the cam pullies.

      i see what you are saying... programming skills seam under valued today, but i guess its just about what you like to do in your day to day but also earn enough to have the life style you desire. Depending on how the next few moths goes for me, finding a shop to work in may become something I take a serious i think you need certifications and stuff but idk. I think there is a lot to explore in this interaction of automotive and programming though...

    The ticking/chirping noise is probably the fuel injectors. Look up the chrisfix video on how to listen to it using a screwdriver. The fuel injectors are being told to work harder on a cold start so that the engine can warm up. Sounds normal imo

    yea probably need to tighten those mounts. anyway man how does the new clutch feel. im planning to do this on mine just cos 1st to 2nd shift on mine is so rough. it almost decelerates the car and that pisses off people behind me. i know mines near its end cos i feel it slip sometimes wonder if that fixed on urs after u replaced it

    • @aftereartharcade
      @aftereartharcade Месяц назад

      for sure! thanks for reaching out :D When mine was worn it would feel like only half the power would transfer to the wheels for a few seconds while the clutch was shifting after i would let off on the clutch peddle. now it feels like it has so much grab and when i shift it transfers all the power. it feels faster like it accelerates now. what you are describing is how it felt before changing the clutch. I hope that helps!!

    I would assume the engine having a rough idle is engine management relearning how to keep it steady at idle. My moms old car would stall on a stop until it learned not to. There was probably something wrong internally that caused it but it was high mileage and still passed emissions

    • @aftereartharcade
      @aftereartharcade Месяц назад

      Hey we end up using an engine crane and some ratchet straps it works really well. I tried to do it with a floor jack but its hard to get the angles you need to clear the diff side or the big hump on the bottem of the trans with the ctrl arm. If you take off the driver ctrl arm you could get under it and bring it down if you can bench 200. but trans jack or the hoist is the way imo!!! You got this is a lot of work but very rewarding

    I bought a used 2014 Yaris manual with 294k km for one of my kids to use for school. I think it's a very cool car. I wish Toyota would bring another sub compact to the market in North America. But then, I'm a fan of sub compacts. My Yaris had 294k km when I bought it. It's past 300k km (187k mile) now. It doesn't burn oil. No detectable oil level change on the dip stick. Better than my Honda's. Based on everything I've read about these cars, and the 1NZ-FE engine, I won't be surprised if it's still on road at 600k km.

      sick! i agree they are underrated. glad you got some great use out of yours :D i still see echos on the road. One thing i like is the hatch gives a lot of space for how small the car is. Ater driving the Matrix around the 1zz is its a but faster and has some cool things going for it. The inside is way nicer, but the Yaris is more fun lol. I think its the sub compact thing like you said. I agree but they should bring it back and rwd ;p

    I have a 2018 Yaris. Exact same car, Toyota never changed anything but the looks. I LOVE it. Comfy and roomy enough, 40mpg/hwy, I love the hatch for getting stuff in and out.

  • @fredf1794
    @fredf1794 Месяц назад

    Scott Eilers, and How To ADHD channels are very good, but you might need meds. You are very smart and have a good heart and it pains me to see you go through these challenges, I consider you a friend. You appear to have the same 'vibe' as my son when he was going through some serious mental health issues a few years ago. They kept trying to give him anti-depressants which, instead of helping, triggered psychotic behavior-- for more than a year I was on a first name basis with local law enforcement as the deputies would find him miles from home without a coat in the cold at night...etc. It's a very long story that he's also trying to put out on youtube (hasn't finished the video yet), he's on "better" meds and is back to a 'normal' job and relationships etc. Although he hates the meds (causes a lot of drowsiness) he is in much better shape mentally, has a regular programming job, and is fun to talk to and be around again. Do you have a good support community? Do you have an advocate-- parent, sibling? Apologies if I am totally mis-interpreting the situation, but this hits close to home. If I've totally misunderstood the situation, let me know and I'll delete the comment. Good Luck, and keep going with the vlog.

      No you are not wrong. I greatly appreciate that you consider me a friend. I feel like you are reaching out to help and share a story. This is exactly what i want. To create a commuting of people like you and your son. If others share struggles and how we get through it maybe people who are struggling now can get out of it. Scott... its a lot to get in to, but i just wanted to answer a few of your questions. I have a few really good friends, but vie only had them for a little over a year. I'm not really but for sake of simplicity you can consider me an orphan. Let me know when your son releases his videos ill be the first to watch. Can i put your name on the Yaris? Appreciate you friend <3
