Wild Visitors at Laurel Spring - Keep LA Wild!
Просмотров 6096 месяцев назад
It's so cool to see how many different animals stop by this stream in Laurel Spring. From a sassy raccoon to a leaping deer to a curious coyote, this natural water source is part of a crucial wildlife crossing in Laurel Canyon. This footage highlights how important it is for us to protect this precious parcel of land, which we hope to preserve as Laurel Spring Park. If it falls into the hands o...

My Feline Valentine - Bobcats in Love
Просмотров 4308 месяцев назад
Talk about a Hollywood romance! Our CLAW Nature Cam captured these two bobcats playing and enjoying each other's company on several different occasions. We are elated to have captured this footage since bobcats are solitary creatures who do not stay with their mates for long. All we can say is, we think they're purrrrfect together!
CLAW Nature Cam - Fall Visitors 2023
Просмотров 2259 месяцев назад
Now that it’s winter, we’ve had some time to gather and analyze our CLAW Nature Cam footage from the fall. We see lots of animals running through the bushes, including mule deer, coyotes, and a curious little skunk. Autumn is when animals begin loading up on food to prepare for winter. In one shot, we even see a bobcat who appears to be stalking some prey. Take a look at the vid and tell us in ...
CLAW Nature Cam - Summer Visitors 2023
Просмотров 335Год назад
Check out the wildlife our Nature Cam captured having fun in the sun! This past summer we were treated to appearances from all types of animals, including coyotes, bobcats, quails, raccoons, an elusive owl, and of course - lots of mule deer! Summer is a transformative time for many animals. Babies born in the spring are learning how to hunt, forage, and survive. Mule deer bucks who are older th...
Coyote Howling Over the Hollywood Hills - Keep LA Wild!
Просмотров 20 тыс.Год назад
You may have heard coyotes howling from a distance, but have you ever seen one this close? Sometimes, coyotes howl to communicate with their fellow pack members. However, in this case, the coyote is likely howling (and barking) to make its presence known to a potential outsider. It may sense another coyote intruding on its territory. Coyotes are an essential part of Los Angeles' ecosystems. The...
Bobcat Plays with Its Food - Keep LA Wild!
Просмотров 505Год назад
Warning: This video contains footage of a predator and its prey. Apparently, this bobcat never learned you're not supposed to play with your food! If you have a pet cat, these behaviors may look familiar. Maybe you've seen your cat play with toys - or even a catch of their own - in a similar way. It's thought that bobcats (and other felines) play with their food to tire it out and avoid getting...
Night and Day - Keep LA Wild!
Просмотров 314Год назад
Which animal visitor is your favorite? No matter what time of day it is, there are so many different types of predators and prey that come to this one spot. Many of the animals you see in the nighttime shots are nocturnal or crepuscular. Crepuscular means they are most active at dusk and dawn. Even though this is just one nature cam in one spot, it is a perfect glimpse into the diversity and ri...

Los Angeles' Young Buck Sparring Championship
Просмотров 366Год назад
Feeling stuck in a rut? So are these two young bucks! What you're seeing here are two young male mule deer sparring with each other to show dominance. This behavior is indicative of the rut, which is another name for their breeding season. The rut is an invigorating time for LA's wildlife to establish territory and ensure their lineage. Similarly, CLAW has entered a rut of its own: This #Giving...

we have a barn owl box in back yard here in Temecula , our neighbor is complaining of the noise at night wanting me to remove or relocate the box. the baby owls are not so much babies anymore and are starting to fly. Question . When will it be safe to relocate the box?

I'm reading this a year on - I hope your thoughtless, inconsiderate neighbors moved on, rather than the owls. In a world fast losing its wildlife, it is so mean to begrudge these beautiful creatures a home, especially when it is us taking over their territory. Also, Barn Owls eat rats, which is so useful.

americans are especially selfish when it comes to respecting nature. even californians. like when they decide to replace their lawns to conserve water, they choose ornamental plants [including invasives] instead of native plants. only the human perception matters. theres no consideration for the effects on the wildlife

This is so beautiful! Unfortunately, developers don't have a second thought about destroying nature... Nor do some people living in the hills for that matter. The only way to make sure they do not poison our wildlife in order to get rid of rodents, or trap coyotes because they can see in the way they look at them that they are aggressive... is RELOCATION! These people should be banned from living in the hills and should be relocated to the Wilshire corridor where the only thing they can poison are the aphids living in their potted plants.

Poisoning wildlife and other nuisance animals is kind of the point. Keep your pets contained and your kids supervised and you never have to worry about what poisons anyone else is using to protect their families and property.
