    I'm going through this now, had a P0128 code in May on my 2014 JK and had a local shop install a new thermostat. Immediately after installation, we noticed that the electric fan was running most of the time during operation, and the engine temp gauge was running into hotter territory. I have not overheated, thank goodness, but the fluctuating engine temp has me very alarmed, and seems to be a much bigger issue during highway driving. I have ordered a Mopar OEM thermostat and housing and will be installing this weekend. I'm very hopeful that this will restore the previous behavior before the replacement thermostat was installed.

    • @batsoffroad
      @batsoffroad 20 дней назад

      Sounds like you have the exact same issue we did. I feel confident the replacement thermostat from Mopar will fix your issue.

    • @batsoffroad
      @batsoffroad 16 дней назад

      @grendle13 so glad that worked out for you. I wasted so much time looking at other potential causes because I assumed a new part was good out of the box.

  • @joshuabrown7939
    @joshuabrown7939 20 дней назад

    Had the exact same issues. Got the P0128 code last December, took it to my shop and they replaced the thermostat with a Motorad polymer one like the OEM model. Mine actually seemed to work normally for a few months, then as soon as summer weather started mine ran hotter than I feel like it should. It would generally hover in the upper 220s to 230s but with any sort of engine effort it would bump up into the 240s and I even saw low 250s on one occasion. I tried all of the easier things at first, new radiator cap, purging the coolant of air, even cleaned the radiator. But still exhibiting all the same symptoms. So I finally changed the thermostat again last weekend with a Mitzone aluminum one I ordered off Amazon and problem solved. The first replacement one didn’t seem to be opening where it was supposed to or perhaps not all the way. It would hover around 221-222 just idling. Now it will hover between 208-212 idling and rarely goes over 222 when working. My electric fan almost never kicks on now when it would be screaming all the time before. Apparently these thermostats are garbage out there and you should familiarize yourself with the replacement process

    • @grendle13
      @grendle13 20 дней назад

      I have a Motorad thermostat installed, and my JK coolant temp is routinely running at 221-222. I am very hopeful the OEM replacement thermostat corrects this issue.

    • @batsoffroad
      @batsoffroad Месяц назад

      I'm glad you brought that up. I've had an ongoing "issue" with the fuel pump on my Gladiator. The dealership had to order one in. That took forever, but when it came in, they replaced it. Got home, and a few days later, I discovered that the fuel sending function of the new fuel pump, didn't work. So I had to wait for another replacement fuel pump to come in. A few weeks after the second pump was replaced, I started having the same issue again. The issue basically amounted to a check engine light that would come on maybe a couple times a year. So not a real issue in terms of keeping me from driving the vehicle, but so frustrating. It has been roughly a year since the last check engine light came on that was related to the fuel pump. Issue.

    So about 15 or 20 years ago someone tried to build a resort type area in GR. Had swimming pools and a big cabin with an airstrip. The residents kept burning it out until the just gave up. Used to go and see the old remnants while hunting in Gene Rush area. Its sad to see a plane land there, it was only a matter of time I guess. ...I still say the hillbillies should burn em out. Northwest Arkansas is one of the souths true jewels. It should be preserved like the buffalo.
