Lecture 42 : Design of Batten Plates using Weld Connection
For caculation of bs....how to dividing the shear portion as 40mm and tension portion as 35mm....Is our wish to divide or why dont u take shear portion as 50mm and tension portion as 25 mm.plz clarity my doubt
Point no 11. Combined UC calculation axial component due to 5 percent longitudinal force to be also added Due transverse lateral force of 10 percent there will be additional torsion in gantry girder. We should see the impact of that torsion, I beam don't have much capacity in torsion.

Sir design of structural engineering ka best book boliya me from west bengal kharagpur
Slang of the speaker should be improved. It is too difficult to understand
@26:48
Why didnt consider Ruu and Rvv while calculating minimum radius of gyration?
Dss
Fb we derived as 3m/2tt d^2 but yor are used 6m why
u smart !!

Sir, Please share your contact no. i'm interested in attending your class
Acha laga sir😊
22:15 .. in sub question b) for Vdpb sir you took t =8mm which is of cover plate but for sub question c) for Vdpb you took t=10mm and why not 8mm bcz in question cober plate is of 8mm
Fu should be 410 na?
Very nice
Thank you sir
❤
whosoever learning now, correction in equivalent stress in case of fillet weld Fe^2=(fb^2+3*q^2)
according to code given by maximum distortion energy theory.
Hii sourav sr has done wrong?
how come bending moment is acting on this arrangement. I think it should pe torsional moment that's why we are taking polar moment of inertia.
Dheivame dheivameee... Nandri solven dheivame 🔥🔥
Professor, please also clarify direction of the load for which formula you gave.
sir in second question how the value comes 203 at section 3-3
Thanks for this entire series on steel structures, sir
Does principle of superposition apply to plastic members & how load combination is done.
Can anyone explain how he took the value of 3/4*Thickness of the angle why 3/4 is taken??
Sir how to design haunch connection??
How moment along BC is taken??
no of bolt = 2fcos theta / r
is l value is wrong
Sir at 6:56, you told that distance between edge of the part & slot should be either 3t or 25 mm whichever is greater. But you took it as 50 mm (distance between slots) & 100 mm (distance from part edge to slot edge) in the subsequent numerical. This is violating the standard. Pls explain.
In this case there is no voilation of a standard because max edge is tajen by sir is 25 as per question in final making of drawing sir has taken 50 mm so that depath of a member shsould not be more than 300mm
disscussion on the subject. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19B1BwHNeL3oyEsK4H7TBVSq_rgqq2iweO4N-vFUI0Sg
I am unsure if you read the comments on these videos , but thank you very much for uploading this. This helps a lot in understanding why we designed this stuff.
How did he calculate number of bolt. Shouldn't it be 2Vcot 45/n?
A big mistake i observed in this design is that calculation of bearing strength of bolts was done when t=10mm. But summation of thickness of cover plates is coming to be 8mm. So Σt=4+4= 8mm and this should be used in calculation of bearing strength of bolts and bolt value will be 58KN and so we require 5 bolts.
Else provide splices of 5mm thickness each. Which is minimum criteria
Thickness of the splice plate is calculated at the latter stage 10 mm is absolutely correct.
Edge distance= 1.5 times the gross dia
Why fu value is 400? Because of steel?
we dont need dabba .... we need simple disignsssss mr dabbbaassssss
Design wind pressure pd= kd.ka.kc.pz Where pz= 0.6vz^2. pz is wind pressure and not design wind pressure.
19:00 why don't we consider Atg = 35*10
Actually I have same doubt coz it should be 35*10 ig
Difference between usm and Lsm?
Thank you sir
I think efficiency should be calculated here with respect to yielding of gross section rather than rupture.....
In Books(N.Subramanian & S.K Duggal) also they used Rupture Formula For Finding Efficiency.
Can anybody explain me how rv dash has been written by parallel axis theorem?
@15:10 how does the values had been calculated
How did you find net area of lug angle @24:14 ?
Worst explanation... At least mention the code book ...
Why for deflection we are taking service load?
