A paramedic friend told me that this episode sent a shockwave of empowerment through the female population, sparking off a huge number of this type of assaults on errant boyfriends & husbands across the country. Still not sure it was wise to show this particular form of assault on prime time TV. but it sure changed the power dynamic within a great number of relationships!
