The Journey of Light (Short Film)
The Journey of Light is a short film that tells a million-year-old tale of how the light that we use to see the world around us got created in the center of the sun and describes its movement throughout the suns layers going over examples of processes such as the proton proton chain, nuclear fusion reactions, random walk, and convection.

In this episode of The Space Age we look at orbital mechanics, the study of planetary bodies in orbits. This is a first of 2 part series looking at circular and elliptical orbits. We will look at why orbits are possible and how tangential velocity and gravity effect properties of orbits such as eccentricity. As well as the physics, this video will also take a dive into the geometry of circles a...

    Hello, it has been brought to my attention that what I said at 3:40 is incorrect. When the satellite starts to "spiral in". It also gains tangential velocity and therefore kicks itself up to a higher altitude and makes an ellipse. In a scenario without air resistance the satellite will not spiral inwards (excluding factoring general relativity)

    do you have to wear speical glasses to watch the solar eclipse on tv?

    • @TheSpaceAge
      @TheSpaceAge 3 года назад

      No, The reason why you wear special glasses when looking at the eclipses is because of the high luminosity(brightness) outputted by the sun. This is so bright that looking even momentarily can result in permanent damage to your eyes. most human made devices with screens including TVs don't have remotely as much power to do this both for technological and practical reasons (though I wouldn't try using screens at max brightness for too long). Interesting question by the way.

Obviously this is easier then understand than algebra and physics. I would give the basics of : - Gravitational attraction force - Gravitational potential - energy conservation - kinetic energy - circumference + ellipse equation This should be enough to grasp this and give the audience more tool to understand other concepts too.

      It should be visible during those times(keep in mind its hard to see earth shine on Gibbuses due to the much more prominent directly lit part of the moon being bigger).I don't think I actually specified a time period when earthshine can or cant be visible but maybe the time that I mentioned it in the video (unintentionally) implied that it only happens at certain times in the lunar cycle. In reality it happens in all phases except full moon and I think new moon. Sorry If there was any confusion.
