Also my heart was broken when Souths board decided they didn't need Cookie anymore. Another class act always in the top two tackle counts and a tireless player with a heart of gold. Pathetic the club appointed Griffen as coach he set us back years his recruitment of players was disgusting. Recruiting old worn out players. We came second last the lowest in decades and decades. We lost two very good players in Humt and Lomax but gained three very good players in Gutho, Cook and Holmes. Holmes has pace which we have lacked. Only one way and that’s up. Remember Hunt was by far our best player in 2023 and without him we could have come last. Lomax was our best last year.

The dominance of Penny and the consistency of Melbourne not withstanding, the even nature of the NRL comp this coming year is a real delight. I would be hard pressed to absolutely put a line through any of the 17 teams. So, why not the Dragons? For as respected as he is, I think Flanno is still underrated as a coach.

Well they certainly are talking confidently. Flanno was singing the same song last season and he did deliver. Perhaps not to his standard,by missing out on top eight, but he did deliver a much more competitive team. That actually won matches by being the better team on the day.

Of all the players to depart Parra over the years, this one feels the strangest. He doesn't belong in anything other than blue and gold.
