The Billfish Foundation
Добавлен 20 мар 2012
The Billfish Foundation (TBF) is the only non-profit organization dedicated solely to conserving and enhancing billfish populations around the world. A membership-based organization headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, TBF's international network of supporters includes conservation-minded anglers, captains, mates, scientists, policy makers, tournament directors, clubs and sportfishing businesses. A three tiered strategy of research, education and advocacy is employed by TBF in order to create marine conservation strategies that benefit oceanic resources while also empowering the recreational fishing community.
The Skillie Project
The goal of The Billfish Foundation's Skillie Project is to gain a better understanding of the White Marlin (“Skillie”) population off the coast of New England, focusing on their migratory patterns, habitat use, and population dynamics. By leveraging satellite tag data and scientific research, in partnership with The University of Maine, The Skillie Project aims to inform and drive effective conservation strategies, support sustainable fisheries management, and foster greater public awareness of the importance of protecting one of Nantucket’s most-prized game fish.

Просмотров 5893 года назад

However, while release-only fishing is infinitely better than landing the fish, it does not guarantee that the billfish you reeled in will survive. The good news is, whether a billfish survives after release is not simply random chance and is heavily influenced by what you, the angle...

👍👍
Yo encontre un sintillo d los d ustedes con un atun
That is a terrible reproduction of a bigeye tuna. 1. The pectoral fin is too short. For a big eye of the size shown, the pec fin should extend to just past the base of the 2nd dorsal fin. 2. The feeding bars extend too far forward, way too far. 3. The dorsal & anal finlets on bigeye tunas have a thick black rear edge. 4. The body is too narrow. bigeye tuna have a deeper, thicker body Creds? 25+ years training pelagic fish identification for the same group as Derke.
Great job Kevin
Is great job Kevin
Very cool. I would love to see that in person one day, wow! Thanks for sharing!
Hi guys so they do have scales when the are juveniles? Can you tell about other swordfish types? Do they have the same characteristics?
Whoever painted that tuna needs glasses and a better reference picture.
Some great camera work!
Very nice explanation ! We know lot about land animals but very little about ocean fish , it would be nice if we have such programs on these creatures in much broader perspectives , their habitat life span etc. , and their speciality. Thanks 🙂👌
