Organist and vocalist Anthony Asmar produces a multi-track recording of the emotional hymn, "Abide With Me," at Sacred Heart Church in Norfolk, VA. Written by Scottish Anglican cleric Henry Francis Lyte in 1847, and set to the hymn tune EVENTIDE, the lyrics tell of Lyte's plea for God to stay with him in life and in death, as he composed this poem while dying of tuberculosis.

Question: Are you playing this hymn in the key of E flat? If so, this is the first time I've seen anyone play or sing this hymn in a key other than E.
Yes, it is in E flat! I like the sound of it a little more in that key, and it's close enough to the original that the congregation can still sing.
Hearing this and knowing that one day I’ll probably be responsible for planning my parents’ funerals, it makes me cry, but in an almost comforting way. Especially when I think of my father who is a doctor. I truly believe this song was written specifically for medical professionals. Think about the lyrics. The lyrics to this song are pretty much the oath that every medical professional takes when they graduate. And for me, this song is the epitome of everything my father is.

Is there a biblical explanation for this kind of Trinity icon? Doesn't the gospel say that no one has ever seen God? The Father with a beard, is there some explanation in the scripture?
It's just an artistic convention. The Father must of course be older than the Son...so represent him as an old man, kingly, with a white beard. We are said to be made in his image, after all...think how you would "explain" things if you could only do it pictorially.
No one has ever seen the Father, God is a Spirit He does not have a body like us creatures. The Son of God (the Word of God) incarnated and became a man therefore we can make icons of Him. But the Father? Unbelievers and pagans will because of their ignorance of our faith. will assume that we are pagans because of seeing icons like these@@roringusanda2837

It signifies that humans possess characteristics such as reason, morality, creativity, and the capacity for relationships, which reflect the divine nature. Anyone who has seen me, has seen the Father. God the Father gave us his image in Christ Jesus, his son. That's the biblical explanation. It is however not the most theological thing to depict the Father as an old man, even a man.
@@a.demian Our Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Word of God, he did not have a human body in the beginning but when he became incarnate he took on a human body so we can draw him. But drawing the Father as an old man with a beard like that is why unbelievers who don't know Christ accuse us Christians of being a pagan religion. Because they see icons like this
