    I feel like they have less lumens and less side output compared to a bullet style.

      I would agree with that, seem a little dimmer for the same output, and off axis is little less also.

    Awesome setup! May I ask why you used 3/4" pvc rather than the typical 1/2" that many people use for this? Also, I'd love to see a detail on your j-channel. I am trying to do my eves but I can't seem to get it to look good. Thanks!

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 Год назад

      I used 3/4 mostly because I liked the thicker pipe for some of my longer runs with less support needed. Also cause I had some on hand already. As for my eves, I don't have any real video of that process or what they look like. I used j-channel from amazon and drilled 12mm holes every 2 inches. If you come over to discord.gg/drzzs to this discord, lots of us in there can help you and share more content.

    I see a 12mm and a 1/2" version. Do you double drill these so that you feed the pixel through the 1/2" hole and out the 12mm hole or something?

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 Год назад

      I use the 12mm to run the hole all the way through both sides of the pipe, then I go back with a 18mm bit to enlarge one side to allow for the body of the pixel to fin inside the pipe. On the 12mm side, just the tip of the pixel sticks out, to the first little detent that is on the pixel.

      I use 3d printed hangers. They are from SFL designs sfl-designs.com/?store-page=3-4-PVC-STL-Files-c132478625 They have held up really well and I can print replacements as needed.

    Did you print your own clips?(window mounting ones) does anyone sell them as I don't own a 3d printer. Thanks.

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      I did print my own clips. All of the designs I used came from Jason Sisk. www.sfl-designs.store/. He also sells them if you don't have a printer.

    Very nice display. I would be interested to see how you made your arches. I was doing displays years ago when you still had to make your own PCBs for your controllers. I want to get back into this now I am retired. I hope your do more DIY display videos, Again Nice install.

      Thank you for the comment. My arches are 1in white pex. Then I ran ws2811 pixels through the inside of each arch. I used 50 count strings, really only need about 45 though depending on how you do the connectors. Am planning for more videos in the future.

    Nice arches. Consider using more differential receivers closer to the props for a major reduction in cables

      Thank you. Yea 2022 plans are for more distributed power and control. Already have more receivers and will be doing just that. Thanks for the watch.

    HI we are looking at using this installation in as part of our church stage design before I pull the trigger on this method I wanted to ask one question. This video shows you making the holes but not putting the pixels in... so did you slide them in the pipe then try to push them in the holes from the inside? if so how hard was that and if not what did you do .. I like the idea of a clean look with all the wires inside the pipe.. I would love to know what you did in this regard .. thanks !

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      Good question, I inserted them perpendicular to the pipe. So directly through the hole from the big side to the small side, so the bulb sticks out of the pipe about 5/8". The wires are not inside the pic doing it this way. If you watch some of my other video on my Chanel however. You can see arches in the front of my yard. Those have the same pixel inside 1" white PEX and those are ran all on the inside so the wires are hidden.

  • @jadlaf
    @jadlaf 2 года назад

    like the arches. did you use the same drilling holes technique as the PVC window frame?

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      No, for these I ran the pixels on the inside. The arches are made from 1" white pex so the pixels just squeeze through on the inside.

    Where do you get the clips for the pipe and your house? I don’t have or ave access to a 3d printer. Like the idea of mounting into pvc for the eves. Thanks

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      So, I used clips designed by Jason Sisk. He does sell pre-printed ones if you do not have a printer. I used 5-6 of the 3/4in version per window. One on each corner and one in the top middle and sometimes bottom middle as well. For my garage, I used them on the corners and then about every 4-5 feet. Here is the link to purchase the same ones I used. www.sfl-designs.store/?store-page=Standard-Wall-Mount-Clip-p415882563

    What about the gaps at the elbows? Won’t that leave a big space not making a complete square when lit up?

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      It does leave the corners unlit, but I think it turned out ok. You can see how it looks in my other videos of my light shows.

    • @markbauer7915
      @markbauer7915 2 года назад

      Don’t see why you can’t drill the corner too. You can see the corner is not there in the videos but it looks great. Not sure the corner is needed.

    • @jk2mdesigns942
      @jk2mdesigns942 2 года назад

      Yeah it would be possible to drill the corners. Decided I liked the look with the dark corners. Makes some of the vertical and horizontal effects look cool.
