    I always buy 73 27 and i pressure cook it in a stainless colander so a ton of the fat drains off into the pot. Then i freeze it and use later in the pan or what not, but GEEEEZ I would love 1.50 a pound ground beef.. I live in Long Beach CA and here i just got 11.99 for 3 pounds of 73 27 and thats a pretty good deal around here... Miss these old prices before the pandemic and our government started printing money willy nilly driving inflation through the roof..

    I think it would help to start your plants early in a hot box or small greenhouse. Growing food is hard between poor soils, bad weather and bugs its amazing we dont all,starve to death 😅 Stupid government regulations controlling every thing in our lives. My wife and i have done 2 yard's from bare dirt, thats more than enough sweat from our brows.😊

      Hi EL! We hear you. Remember, last year we had to take down our greenhouse because it was beating up the Shouse! The first year we were here, we built a cold frame to help start plants, and the wind destroyed it! The wind here is so strong that it regularly tears up greenhouses - we see them laying in pieces all over the area out here. The UV breaks down even the good greenhouse plastic within one season. Our goal is to integrate greenhouse area with our shop when we build it. Good to hear from you!

    Ya those beds are awesome. That well water may need to sit above ground for a day to warm up I know with mine it comes out below 50f and the rain water stuff grows way better.

    • @contentment164
      @contentment164 2 месяца назад

      Thanks!! Yeah, the well water is pretty cold. Unfortunately, the state doesn't permit us to keep any more than 110 gallons of rainwater. We only get about 8 inches of rain per year here, so rainwater is like gold. About the beds: Those bales will not grow anything because the barley that the straw comes from was treated with a persistent broad leaf weed killer. Too bad. But they do work well for holding in the soil and making raised beds. Cheap!! And they hold in moisture, too.

    Good evening, i greatly appreciate your videos on you f600, just bought one with the same problem everyone has, brakes. Any chance you have a parts list somewhere with links where you got everything? Only partially into the series, but already know this is going to be tons of help. Thanks again

    • @contentment164
      @contentment164 4 месяца назад

      Hello and thanks for the kind words. The 1967 F600 had at least two versions of brakes. I found the schematic and other info from the Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum online. They have a section dedicated to Medium Duty and Heavy Duty trucks. Finding parts will be something of an Easter Egg hunt, but most of what you may need can be found. Alternatively, you may find that upgrading your axles to newer ones will provide greater parts availability. Thankfully, we have not had to do that yet. Have fun with your F600!

    I know this is an old video, but it proves something to me and should to others... scientifically... fat content in beef... some fat has more water content than other fat, so thus, when it's cooking, more of the "fat" renders down in one version vs another. So, for example, I could buy a pound of 90/10 from source A store and 90/10 from a source B store (making sure the product came from different farms) and you would not get equal results on the cooked meat because fat renders differently. Just because you have 10% fat doesn't mean that all 10% will render off when cooking, especially if it is fat with more water content. I go with 27/73 because we mainly do burgers and hamburger helper, and I need softer / easier to chew food, but I could see the benefit of 80/20 in other types of ground meat situations such as tacos or maybe even canning.

      Hi there! Yes, what costs the most around here is the labor. We don't mind hiring help when we absolutely need it, but our goal is to do as much of this ourselves. But the groundwork is done and pretty soon we will start to see an actual house going up! Thanks for watching as always.

  • @randymatthews5263

    I use a geyser pump to bring water up to my tank above the ground and a small pressure pump to deliver water to the house. Mother in the ground can go bad. The air pump is inside the garage and runs during solar time to store air pressure/energy storage. Cost less than 100 for the whole pump.

      It did and it still does four years later. It's not really efficient, but it will handle all we can throw at it. Way more beef than a SolArk, etc. can handle. Peak is rated at 3x the rating and for 20 seconds, I think. We regularly use our Lincoln Tombstone 50 A welder with it! It has been mounted in an enclosed, non-conditioned trailer with dust and extreme temperatures at 8000ft elevation. Still recommend it.

    Why did you go with PWF if you were going to pour concrete anyway?

    • @contentment164
      @contentment164 11 месяцев назад

      That's a good question, thanks for asking. The architect actually designed the house for a concrete cellar. We're not fans of concrete, but we realize that there are places where it makes sense. The rest of the home will have a deep rubble trench (gravel footings) with a huge concrete grade beam on top to support straw bale walls. With all of the concrete already required, we wanted something less...concrete, if that make sense. It was going to be extra 10 yards (plus form-up, etc.) for the cellar walls. So instead we opted for a PWF and poured 2 yards of concrete floor (we can splash water on it at times to increase the cellar humidity). We saved at least $4,000 going with PWF walls. Very happy with the result and highly recommend it, particularly if you are in a dry climate like ours. :-)

    My first car had to have the clutch replaced. Jim knows the name of songs and artists. I remember hearing it. I hope it is a great adventure too for your daughter. Glad Thomas was able to help. I could see it popping out. So much work. Glad it is in. 💕NonnaGrace 🐓

      Yeah. We've had more rain than unusual and fewer winds. Not complaining.
