Perhaps it's my fault for trying to get a sense of a movie from it's plot summary on Wikipedia, but after reading what happens in the movie, I just wondered what was the point of making it? It sounded like a well meaning guy getting screwed over by life with extreme injustices for no reason, until it all just ends horribly. The way it was written implied that Ige might not have actually come back, but he just perceived it as a wish fulfillment near death, and given the way the rest of the plot had gone it made sense his kids would just be abandoned like that. Every other good thing he tried to do only ended up hurting everyone. But from this review and the other comments, I can see what the film is ACTUALLY like, if one watches it. I might well do so, I loved Birdman and Bardo, and this sounds thematically related to Bardo petty closely. The lesson is to not trust Wikipedia summaries to convey AT ALL the essence of a dramatic film. Thanks for having the longest review of the movie currently up on youtube.

the show is a fundamental misrepresentation of the source material. they didn't translate the source material, they robbed its best ideas and attempted to rewrite them in a completely different context while still having the characters end up in same place at the end. it just doesn't work. the game's narrative, performances, editing, cinematography, and world building is phenomenal. the show looks and feels cheap, and the dialogue was changed for the worst.

Very interesting, I had heard about the game's similarities to No Country For Old Men but never to this. It's weird that I missed it cause I'm always checking out gaming news. Anyway, thanks for your perspective, as a fan of the game who doesn't like the adaptation, I was looking for a more critical take on it, and you delivered.

Tess death isnt suppose to make you feel something because the game conveys that death is a regular occurance in the world and that a crucial part of joel that allows him to feel emotion towards others is being suppressed. She mentions to joel before she dies what do you know about me? Because even though its shown that they are partners and there might be some form of intimacy there something stopping joel for really careing for her because he doesnt want to get hurt. Its good that you noticed it from the letter scene from episode 3. I do enjoy how they wrote the characters for episode 3 because you are right in that regard, if it just followed the game 1 to 1 it would end up failing because narrative shown in games cant be done like a movie because part of the narrative is conveyed in the gameplay itself. Any ways great video and im suprised you dont have more views or subs because this was a really good analysis of show and id like to see more of your perspective coming from a film making backround

I think the outcast whale was my favorite character honestly l I really loved him! And I looked up how whaling is done in real life and they don't really use explode harpoons. They try to cause brain damage in the whales so they can take an oil from it's blubber. So there was a level or realism to that scene and felt really affected by it

Could you do a review on the movie "Men" by a24 and Alex Garland. It's pretty divisive but I'm a big fan myself.

I loved frazier in this and made it gave me the feels. I thought it was sad that even though his daughter was awful he was like.. she's so great and brilliant. Maybe he couldn't handle realizing who she was, especially after saying "I have to know I did one thing right in my life"

Guillermo Del Toro is a huge heroic artist in my little country of Ireland. We have had many centuries if difficulty with the English colonial system, told and believed in their myth that we are inferior. I was home (In Derry, Northern Ireland) watching Hellboy with my brothers and sisters. They all went crazy with enthusiasm and told the whole city to go watch it. So it showed at the cinema for an extended week. This movie sticks to the most common GDT themes: Individual freedom versus Fascism; the difficulty of recognizing good in the world of evil; The magic of children and monsters and their interplay; the importance of choosing love and compassion and forgiveness over hate and destruction. Great Review, I my hat off to you!!!

Es hermosa <3 I also got the chance to see it on theaters over a week ago, the worst part was that here in Mexico it was meant to be premiered 2 weeks before its Netflix release in the 2nd biggest cinema chain in the country (Cinemex) and they backed down a couple of days before exhibiting it, so Guillermo and the distributor were looking for independent venues across the country to show the movie for free (at least the 1st day) and many stepped up but obviously it didn't have the reach it could've had in Cinemex. I saw it at the Universidad de Guadalajara's Cineforo and the room was full, people cried at the end and also applauded. Hope they release it later on like they do with some films like Harry Potter, Avatar, etc. I think it's definitely worth watching on the big screen.
