I bought this on VHS and was severely disappointed at the insertion of clips from videos, and that it was so short. I suspect that the original footage of the whole show vanished decades ago.
Love watching The Voice, especially from 12:40 onwards, great seeing all the guys on drums. I remember watching this on the tele years back. I was fascinated back then by this, but we had no VCR then. This copy is fantastic and brings back fond memories of better times. Nice to see Midge with the sideburns again, watching him here doesn't make me feel so old (he! He!) “Thanks for the youth recapture.”👍💯
I saw the band on this tour at Newcastle City Hall. At the end of The Voice, as Warren was bashing his Simmons pads, Chris finished his bass part by taking it off and flinging it from one side of the stage to the other. Not sure if he expected some intrepid roadie to catch it. I went backstage afterwards and asked him about this, but he seemed completely unbothered by what must have been a severely damaged Fender bass.
It was at all the venues. It must have cost a bit to have all their instruments painted grey. Apparently they got the idea from a theatrical production which had its backdrops in grey.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx many thanks, I had seen a couple of concerts in Europe and the USA and the set was missing, probably too expensive to transport abroad.
Living in Germany as a kid (army), and being poor, I was limited to my parents records which consisted of 60's with some Country & Western. Top of the Pops was on BFBS once-a-week (ONE English TV channel of pre-recorded stuff from the UK). One day, a friend gave me Monument on tape and I listened to it on a mono tape/radio. While it would sound terrible quality today, I was blown away by the sound, melodies, uniqueness of Ultravox and was smitten.
From 1980 to a few years later i've only heard Ultravox in the radio or see theyre videoclips in the german tv-show "Formel 1". I like them for the first time. I'm from east germany and in this time i hav'nt a chance to see them live in a concert. I've must wait until 2010 to the 'Return To Eden'-Tour. It was the mental Overkill for me. I found no words for this.
Chris’s bass during the voice in the beginning you can just hear it like BERMJEBBRRM and it sounds so cool I don’t know if sound quality of individual instruments is big part of Ultravoxs concerts but gosh the bass is just so powerful
Don't miss Midge Ure performing 'Vienna' by Ultravox in full, Visage classics and other greatest hits. 2019 uk . Will be Brill Night Out. Check out Breath , Best Album ever by Midge Ure .. Great Song
Great piece. 100% OMD in OMD.
There's nothing better than Ultravox's music !!!! ❤❤❤❤
❤ Takes me back to 82 ❤
...when comes such another?....
Been to both concerts, 4&6 December 1982, Hammersmith Odeon.
This live video was amazing and exciting from beginning to end!❤

Did they have this stage set at all UK venues? Or was it just constructed at the Hammersmith Odeon gigs.

I didn’t even know that this show has a video... GREAT!!! (But where is "Perfect Strangers"?)
Perhaps you mean 'Passing Strangers'.
@@RebeccaTurner-ny1xx . yes, PASSING, sorry... But it doesn't change my question )
A reminder to those of us who grew up in the 80's of just how lucky we were. What a special era, of great bands.
indeed...i for one probably didn't realise it at the time; only looking back you get it
you can just get this aura of cool from them
Mi favorita con un lugar en el.cosmos...
Was there, Hammersmith Odeon....twice
Midge Ure was so damn sexy, amazing vocalist and performer aswell.
the monument tour is probably my favorite!!! thank you for uploading this!

Midge had so many contrived styles back then
Billie on those synths bloody brilliant just as good as he was with numan in 79
Yeah! “On Broadway” absolutely KILLS!! 🌟🌹🖤🌹🌟
I was at the concert on this tour (monument tour) in Stuttgart 23.01.1983. One of the best concerts in my life :)
