I am a pediatric occupational therapist with more than 35 years experience. I created this channel during the COVID -19 pandemic to empower families to play with their children using common household items and know that they were learning through play. I have worked in a wide variety of pediatric settings including a large city hospital, public and private schools, and a state deaf school. I have done private practice and in home therapy and everything in between! I have taught college students and presented workshops to families and professionals in many states. I was fortunate enough to be on a team with Dr. Solomon to complete research using the PLAY project which is an evidenced based intensive early intervention for autism.
I am proud to be part of a community that is making the best of a bad situation. It warms my heart to receive photos and comments from families, of how kids are using my activities to play and learn!

Hi Jen, thank you so much for this info! What is rate of successful resolution to toe walking that you have seen in your practice and within what timeframe?
There are lots of variables for rate of success, such as age, neurology, and follow through with home exercise program. I typically see them until they have full range motion and the family demonstrates competency with stretches/ massage etc….
All great ideas! Got a couple on my channel as well! Thank you!
I think you may need to share a link to this Jamboard for us to have access to it as a Jamboard and not a video? If there is a way to convert this other than that, please let me know. Thanks!
Here is a link, I think you can rename it, save it so you are the only one that can edit it??and then make your self the editor. Please let me know if this works for you. jamboard.google.com/d/1NsN8WDfXqwC135zhanxUwTc8fiBJok1lY_Q8IlF4wV4/edit?usp=sharing

This looks fun. I work with visually impaired students via telehealth and I think this activity could work. Why does it need to be Ivory soap in particular? Thanks!

I just tried it at home as an experiment. It took me 12 tablespoons of oil, not 2! I used canola oil... is that the difference? It's getting late so I decided to put it in the fridge overnight to see if that would help.
Hmmm, maybe your coffee grounds were dryer? I did use olive oil (that is all I had) and my helper is cute !!! Sorry.
@@jensopka7406 Yes, my grounds were dry because I had been saving them up. I'll try again with fresher grounds :-)
@@cherylmockotr please let me know!
love this and your helper too! The coffee is a great idea!
thanks! this is one of my favorites
Maybe my problem making it was the lack of a cute helper like this one?

Dow Family awww., have fun!
Great video! That’s nine more ideas than I had.
Haha thanks for watching!
We used the turn the page horizontally idea today and it worked beautifully. The letters were automatically smaller!
Faatima Campanini yay!
Great ideas! I like the small boxes tip for writing word like " dog".
jasndi thanks!
this is awesome
Thanks!
Thank You so so much for sharing these ideas. We are going to implement them tomorrow! I have been stressing about how to get the kid to write smaller and space well. Prayers answered. Thank You again. ♡
You are welcome! Happy to help 😊
Faatima Campanini do you have any other areas that you need ideas for?
So many! But let's start with pencil grip for now. I've watched your videos on pencil grip. My 8 year old Asperger's son has a "funny" grip. It doesn't look comfortable to me but he says it is. I've tried so many rubber "grips" and watched so many RUclips videos and eventually gave up and thought, let him be. Should I "make" him change and if so how? He has neat handwriting but hates to write (probably because the grip is awkward). He does complain to write which is an Aspie trait but I don't know what's best for him. As a homeschool Mum, I am so grateful for your help. ♡
I love the last idea so much!
Thanks!
I love your videos !!!
Leila Saber-Khiabani thank you!
Thank you! I have so many parents looking for tips for fine motor skills
Therapy with Jamie great! That is why I am making these, please share 😊
Thank you!!
You’re welcome!
Thank You. I just taught my 8 year old Aspie how to do it a few weeks ago, but your technique will perfect it. Particularly the double under after the cross and the hand grasping the opposite bow. Also the practice with your eyes closed. Brilliant. Thank you for your help. Very appreciated. 🤍
You are welcome, I am truly happy it helped😊
Very good tips! thanks
thanks!
