Someone is going to call me fat because my shirt is fitted and I'm slouching, but I don't care. Apologies for the lack of Jim in this video, though my yapping did rudely wake him up at one point.

Just me on my couch, phone at an awkward angle, talking about my favorite thing for an hour
The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is 🤌
Rocketnumberninetakingofffortheplanet... totheplanet... Venus
The other day i got a RUclips rec for some "whatever happened to Su Tissue" video... since then i keep seeing people talking about Suburban Lawns. 🤨
Posted this today mostly because I'm sad about David Lynch and needed some dopamine. I filmed this last week.
So ... I feel like you need more Rush in your collection, lol :). A lot more Rush.
More for you 😉
@@annaphallactic Lol, fair point :)
But what about Zap... nah I can't even say that with a straight face
The United States of America album is fantastic, and the Joe Byrd & the Field Hippies LP is just as good. And yes, diagetic is the right word 👍
Ben Vaughn. That live Cubist Blues is great, but the one I really want to find is their studio recording. I had it in the old days, it's fantastic, I miss it a lot.
So i love a lot of records by The Pink Floyd - but as a Syd fan they won't always scratch that itch. I do recommend you check out Wish You Were Here (you already know everything from the radio except for Shine on You Crazy Diamond, which is maybe their best song, and is... either in tribute to or a cash grab about Syd) and Echoes off Meddle, which is basic the other candidate for their best (post Syd) song. And A Saucerful of Secrets is worth hearing, since Syd was part of the writing. None of it's the same as Sydney, it really should be called by a different name. But hey, I still dig it.
Ahhhhhh there's the shirt! 😂
Sleater-Kinney = Virginia
Wait... there HAS to be a "vagina is for lovers" T-shirt
The Screamers didn't release anything during their existence, so I'm not thinking that's a reissue (I have it too). Pretty sure that's the first time that material was released not as a bootleg.
Is Dig Me Out or The Hot Rock my favorite S-K? I don't know!
Jim talks like Poko when she's pissed. Darkness, Born to Run, and Nebraska are basically the only Springsteen albums I fw. I like about half of The River, but like most double albums, it should have been one disc. I also like about half of Born in the USA, but it's a single so... shoulda been an EP? Across the rest of his catalog? Eh, I like maybe one or two LPs worth. Great fuckin live show though. And I think you probably missed the E Street Band in the '80s, but boots are sufficient. Listen to any take of Prove It All Night from the Darkness tour. Just search prove it all night 1979. The Capitol Theatre version is super.
Fun House is not "one of" the greatest album"s" of all time.
I got an original Chronic Town at Half Price Books in MKE. Sold that one in The Bad Times. I got my OG Twin/Tone Sorry Ma & Hootenanny at HPB in Dayton, but I still have those.
It does hurt me that you don't have Murmur. 😂 But REM is def a personal thing. Nothing they've done compares to Murmur for me. And yes, JR and the Modern Lovers is just solo JR. But The Modern Lovers is The Modern Lovers.
Diana Ross only has two great solo albums, and they're both eponymous.
Your Beatles/Stones answer is the best I've seen by *farrrrr*
This video popped into my feed a few months ago & it RUUULES: Prince & the NPG, in a tiny little soundcheck documentary that *really-really-really* makes me wish I'd have gone to one of his shows ruclips.net/video/KU-QwSblVVc/видео.html
Reminds me of that classic Sparks lyric: It's a lot like playing the violin You cannot start off and be Yehudi Menuhin
Hi Deanna, with this video I was more suprised about the records that weren't shown: Joy Division's Closer ( best post punk album, hands down), Kenickie (Elastica's heirs) and most suprisingly Luscious Jackson.
I have heard OF Kenickie but never actually listened to them. I'll check them out, thanks for the rec! I did like LJ as a teenager but never did much of a deep dive, and maybe one day I'll get around to picking up a copy of Closer.
I'm not even two minutes in and I'm already delighted by the Raincoats! Yeah! :)
Nice to see all those Tim Buckley albums. But I'm still struggling a bit with your organization system. Did you file his debut under "self-titled" or under "Tim"? You should really listen to those Boygenius records, especially to The Record. It's great.
Technically the name of the record is Tim Buckley, so I alphabetize it like that. Does that make more sense? I did eventually listen to Boygenius after filming this, great stuff!
@annaphallactic I would say that the only thing that is important is that you and the other people/animals in your household are able to find and reshelve the records quickly.
I do not intend to unsubscribe after your "S" video, as long as it may be. 😉
Great video! I was surprised to hear that Pulp are considered to be an uncool band in the USA. Here in Europe they were seen as the coolest of all the Britpop bands. My favourite album of theirs is His 'n 'Hers. But Common People is certainly one of the greatest singles of the 90s. Have a great 2025!
Pulp was way more popular in coastal cities in the US. Outside of those areas, they barely made an impact. I think a lot of Americans were still pretending to be allergic to disco in the 90s, and that's a big reason why. The specific person who bullied me about liking them grew up in the Chicago suburbs, a region has its own shameful racist/homophobic anti-disco tradition that few people acknowledge. Basically, Pulp was too queer for them, even though I'm pretty sure all of the members are straight (or at least heteroflexible). My childhood friends just couldn't be bothered with them when I was still living in the South, but they were very much used to "D's weird music" by then and left me alone about it 😂
Congrats on the Noh Mercy record! I missed out on it when the Superior Viaduct LP came out and I'm still kicking myself a bit about it, nowadays it's nowhere to be seen on the German scene. That aside, your collection is really great and I'm looking forward to seeing it all the way to the end of the alphabet. :)
That Silver Apples record is a great choice, I actually absolutely adore it! And I got the very same light blue Jackpot reissue. :)
Silver Apples were AMAZING! I saw Simeon play in a cemetery once, I can't believe I forgot to mention that. Those Jackpot reissues rule.
Sorry for SO MUCH GLARE. Apparently filming at 7am was a bad idea.
great taste in music thanks for sharing your collection.more record collection vids to come?
Aw thank you! ❤ And maybe? I need to get bored again soon and start hitting the rest of the alphabet.

Can't go wrong with Dreamboat Annie. Or any '70s Heart. That live showcase from Vancouver(?) in '75 or '76 lives in my head.
Oh I put my records by artist in chronological order. Way too obsessive not to do that.
Lol you're gonna know what Caelan feels like reading their comments.
ah but do you have Y Kant Tori Read
Dude. I take the shrink AND poly bag off my records. Will it get them smooshed up against each other? Yes. But I collected records since I was the child of boomer parents, it's how I know to do.
