Imo why Michigan won't get the hammer like teams in the past had, is the fact back then teams that got the hammer were able to keep their players. There wasn't a transfer portal without taking a year off. So teams kept their players. Nowadays when a hammer comes, the whole team can leave, making punishment far harsher than anything from the past. Imo the NCAA realizes the consequence for punishment that harsh. Michigan will get a fine, have some recruiting restrictions and possibly a suspension of a few games for Sherrone
