Accurascale/Locomotion Models Class 37 D6700 running on Dewsbury Midland
Accurascales recent release of the English Electric Type 3/Class 37 is one of my favourite releases of the past year, even more so in this Locomotion Models Limited Edition release of the first of the class number D6700.
Complete with her split headcode boxes and full BR Green livery she's one of my favourite of the first gen diesels. Here she is tackling a mixed freight made up primarily of box vans, bogie wagons and conflats.

The streamlined P2 class is my favourite of the LNER's large express passenger locomotives. They were always good-looking engines but when the streamlining first debuted on the third of the class, 2003 "Lord President" it perfected them even more. When @HornbyModelRailways first announced they were finally bringing these Mikado beasts to life in OO I knew they were going to be stunning and I wa...

The A4s first silver livery was instantly recognisable when these streamlined streaks first appeared on the rails in 1935. 2512 "Silver Fox" was the 4th member of the class delivered in December of that year, tasked with sharing duties on the LNERs first streamlined express - the "Silver Jubilee". This is the release of the first of the class, and only surviving V2, 4771 "Green Arrow" released in conjunction with Locomotion Models. An A4 in Garter Blue is a signature look of the railways on the late 1930s. Like their A3 cousins you can debate whether they looked best in their original form seen here or in their final days under BR ownership but once again, I can't choose. 4489 "Dominion of Canada" is one of my favourites of the class, not just for the stainless steel detailing that mark her out as one of the Commonwealth ...

Hornby's recent release of the LNER's unique water-tubed W1 class number 10000 is a fantastically detailed model that captures the lines of this experimental locomotive perfectly. The often nicknamed "Hush Hush" was long a missing link in the LNER OO line up. Its distinc...

Ive got a good few A1s & A3s in the LNER line up but 4472 "Flying Scotsman" is undoubtedly the pride of the fleet. There's often some debate over her looks and if she looks better as an A1 in her original Doncaster Green or as a rebuilt A3 resplendent in BR Green with her distinctive deflectors. Its by far the best representation of arguably the most successful of the Standard classes that's currently on the market and with its BR Locomotive Green livery and GWR-inspired detailing 92220 is one of the best looking members of the class. @@FlyingScotsDan well, I can’t blame you. Personally, my two favorite examples of the locomotives with this type of streamlining are A4, Dwight D, Eisenhower and P2 cock O’ the north. In terms of paint schemes I like the dark blue of the LNER era and conversely, I also like the 1940s war time black era paint. The reason for this is I have Long preferred its pre-war era appearance to its postwar British railways paint scheme, and I also think that the wartime black paint is honestly more fitting for the locomotive Dwight D Eisenhower, since it had this paint scheme when it was the train used for Dwight D Eisenhower’s command train in Britain during World War II. I understand it didn’t get the name until right after the war, but I always have felt that if it was in its war time, black paint scheme rather than the olive green paint scheme of BR that it would be more fitting, even if it still had its postwar nameplate on. Part of the reason that I like this A4, the most is that I actually have a slight personal connection to it as I have seen this locomotive on display in Wisconsin when I once traveled up there. It is on display along with two passenger coaches, one of them in the appearance of how they would’ve looked like in the 1950s after the war during the BR era and the other one armor plated as it would’ve been during World War II. The locomotive Dwight D Eisenhower looks quite nice even in its olive green paint scheme of BR that I personally think is more fitting for locomotives like evening star. It’s also quite interesting to see the visible differences between American and British locomotives since it is right next to an American, big boy locomotive and a few smaller steam engines from the United States and a streamlined Pennsylvania GG1 electric locomotive. That being said, I am not necessarily opposed to the BR olive green paint scheme on these locomotives, but I don’t think it is as fitting as the other options.

@@lucasquintanilla1673 In my opinion the BR green looks HIDEOUS on the A4, and was nothing less than a BETRAYAL. I do agree about the full BR Swindon passenger livery on Evening Star. It was the last of the breed, the end of an era, and deserved to be special.

@@FlyingScotsDan have you ever considered running Prince of Wales with any of the other class members that were made before it? Obviously this is totally non-realistic. But that’s kind of the fun about it. If I ever do model railroading of European railways, I want to do something like this for Tornado, and for Prince of Wales doubleheading with their original class members, and I wanted to ask what sort of explanation could I do for story building purposes for such an event on my layout, as I like to tell a story when I do stuff like that. As such, I wanted to know if there is any sort of narrative or explanation as to how such a impossible doubleheader could happen that you could think of?

@@FlyingScotsDan what about my suggestion of doubleheading tornado with one of its original class members, or doing the same thing with Prince of Wales? I I have been trying to think of some kind of explanation for this, because I like to think of narratives and stories, whenever I do model railroading, and such a impossible thing is both simultaneously very interesting, and yet also very hard to think of any kind of explanation as to how such a paradoxical event would be happening. Great video by the way!
