First off, thank you for this video - i've been trying to find privacy fences/screens like this for a while! Secondly, I have absolutely no tools so if I don't have a tool to do a dado cut on the 4x4 posts, what else can I do or go? Third, did you purchase the spacers somewhere or did you make them? Thank you again!
They sell posts already notched out like his in the video! Some of the posts are notched out 4 ways and some are 2 way notched like his corner posts. The other thing you can do is take a 2x4 and sandwich it with 2x6’s front and back if that makes sense and then you just slide your boards in and screw them to the post to secure or use spacers as he’s doing but with that 2nd method I mentioned you’ll most likely need screws or nails to hold the boards just up on the posts and you’re done
Extremely helpful and beautiful work! Could you tell the length of your horizontal boards? Also, did you use 1x’s? Looking at doing the same for a clean look. If it’s half as nice as yours I’ll be thrilled. Thanks
@@dylanstate1076 dado is basically doing it on the table saw with dado blades (multiple blades to give that thick cut) .. probably can do it with a router as well but will take longer and more passes plus setting up the router to go up and down with a guide jig or fence.. something
What stain is this?
@@iferiscool Cabot cedar transparent.
What did you use for spacers?
Cut pieces of cedar board.
@@5050kas thank you
So um tag me when you do the How to video 😢

Do you have a video that shows how you did it? Step by step and what did you put in between for them to stay separated
@@maryblackman200 Check my page there is a short tutorial explaining it.
@@5050kaswhat page? Where?

Hello, looks great . Has it warped without center supports , thank you
Where do I buy this material

So did you just use a dado blade to notch out the posts?
Can you show how you routered the post?
Just bought the materials to do this !
Brilliant
Where did you buy the posts!??
How has this held up to wind and weather?
Definitely a great idea
No nails no screws..? 😬 It will blown away overnight. 🙄
Still there 2 years later. I know it’s hard for some people to understand the engineering aspects
Looks great
I've never used a router (I'm 65!) and would like to buy these fence posts with the slots done. It's a beautiful fence
I love the oz anchors and the look of this fence. Thank you ken for sharing
You’re welcome. It was a fun project.
Where can I buy these posts?
I got my cedar posts at Lowe’s home improvement and did the dado slots myself

Did you make those post or were they bought like that
I bought the cedar posts, but had to do the dado slots myself.
This looks great! Did you use a table saw or a router? How deep are the dado cuts?

Very helpful! I’m looking to do the exact design, but hadn’t seen any other videos until now.
After prep this corner section was complete in 30 minutes

Daddo slots in the posts and wood spacers between each board slid in from the top of the posts.
