Stuck Kenmore 4
Here we go again with another stuck Kenmore (I detect a trend...). As I am the unofficial "Keeper of the Kenmores", let's dive right in.

Every now and then, I get a machine that is so stuck, it takes some effort to get it working again. This is one of those machines.

Hi there! Do you mind telling us is there a way to lower the feed dogs on huskystar 219. If so how because they keep snagging my thicker fabrics an cant feed it properly
Please add model numbers to the video descriptions. 🙂 It will help people find your videos, and that's good for you and your viewers.
Down the road your problem is going to be that WD40
Holy crap. Did you NOT hear me at least 3 times in the video say "I will blow this WD-40 out and replace it with PROPER machine oil"? Did you even watch the WHOLE video? I have been doing this stuff long enough to know what is good, bad and acceptable in doing sewing machine service. Just ask the owners of the hundreds of machines I have serviced so far.
WD40 is NOT machine oil. Have you worked on machines very much ?

I’m so glad you’re not Servicing my machine

I’m sure he would NOT accept YOU as a customer!!💩
Rare you really going to put WD40 in that. Machine ????

Thank you for posting this video. It gives a novice, like myself, the confidence to bring a machine back to life that might, otherwise, be discarded or thrown into a garbage dump. They are great machines, and they deserve to live on to see another day❤️
I had to reupload this video due to audio issues. The over all audio was quieter than it should have been, and I was unable to get the intro tune to sound acceptable... Hopefully it's better this time around...
Made in the 1960’s . Side threading probably made around 1965-1970 . The last 2 serial numbers should provide date made.
Nice looking Kenmore. What model is it?
I have a Husky star 224 and am having a problem with it jamming, as long as I’m only sewing light weigh material it’s fine, as soon as I try to do a hem where the seams meet, it jams and breaks the needle . I didn’t know that the foot had a place to slide into the machine either .
I don't know a thing about these computerized machines. So far, my hobby has been limited to the vintage stuff. Still, this is interesting. Thanks for doing these.
So Janome is #2. Didn't know that. Who is #1?
Got it. A cheap machine not worth the time or effort to restore. Better off with a 50s Singer.
I know this video is over a year old, but perhaps on future videos you could please mention the model # you are working on. I'm just a hobbyist and knowing the model can help me pick up an old machine worth working on or just pass on something too involved. Thanks for doing these.
Good job figuring it out. It takes experience with these machines to recognize a problem like that. What is your experience with the 385 Kenmores? Made in Taiwan. What are the most common problems and are they worth the risk to buy from Goodwill and such?
Seems obvious to not mix threads but I have found it in a couple of machines I picked up for cheap. An easy fix there plus a good clean and oiling has worked numerous times.
I'm fairly new to the sewing machine restoration hobby. The more I work with Kenmore the better I like them. What model is this one please.
Sorry for the late reply. Notifications have failed me. This particular machine is any one of the "385" series of machines manufactured by the Janome sewing machine company. They came in all kinds of flavours from 2 stitch mechanical all the way up to 100+ stitch electronic.
Just found your channel. I'm liking it. I hope you continue.
Sorry to say but there is just audio Anyway, thanks for your work
Hi, just wanted to update you; not sure what the issue was then, but I just stumbled upon this and I see both video and audio!
You're not the only one. I jus found out about the pedal through your video. 😂
How about a video on using the needle threader? Thank you!
Have had this machine for 20 yrs. Love her. Just sold the Insipra frame. Had no room in New house. Had one problem over the years. Was a tension spring. Skip stitches. Tension, not clean, wrong needle, bad thread bad day. I use for sit down free motion quilting.
thank you so much for posting this! I just bought a 1956 Super Streamline and have no idea how to thread it
I wonder if RUclips was as popular in the early 2000's, (did it even exist in 2000?)If I would have jumped on the bandwagon then?
