Oh what a great asset to tourism and green transport that line restoration would be. How refreshing it would be to hear a positive comment from the government instead of the slush of net zero green twaddle.

At least bridges to replace - not impossible but a lot of money and time. Good luck to all involved 👍

Is this a walking/cycling trail now? It would be a wonderful resource for people to get out and exercise.

Lovely video. It would be wonderful if this line were restored all way to Hawes. I think Dr Beeching was too ruthless when he cut our railways back. I'm sure quite a lot of branch lines like these could have been made viable.

To be fair, passenger services on this route were long gone by the time Beeching wrote his report. I think passenger services finished in the fifties. Freight continued, though, until early 60s. Lots of lines had already gone by the time everyone's favourite ace-weilding physicist came along. But he usually still gets the blame.

Mikey Aurelius H about 2 miles, then another 10 to Hawes and 6 to Garsdale!

Sadly never going to happen - especially with the railway having had to sell off Aysgarth just to try to keep what they have already. A nice record of what once was, though.

Richard Cullen it's such a shame as this line in my view is more scenic than just up the road at Pickering.. And it would help with the tourist economy in the sale. If it did ever open to Hawes then we would have the two best heritage railways in the country. Ha well..

Great Video pity about so many missing bridges, looks expensive to fix. At least no one built over the track bed. How about videoing the rest of the route to the S&C even if it's only for posterity? Please!

Certainly shows the scale of the task ahead to reach Aysgarth. Great video - let's hope that it will inspire people to join and volunteer on the Wensleydale Railway.

Judging from this aerial view, trains running from Redmire to Aysgarth look like a distant dream. The formation is quite easy to follow from the air, with Bolton Castle distictly visible at the beginning. Hope this video inspires more members to join the Wensleydale Rly and get cracking on the project. Thanks for taking the trouble to make and upload this video.
