Using 36mm glu-lam oak and ply risers. It's incredibly steep and I know it wouldn't pass "code" in America but this is Japan so please don't worry about it.

Update On the House Renovation In Niseko, Japan.
Просмотров 3303 года назад
A SLIGHT gap between videos. Sorry about that, I was kind of in a hurry to get this place done before all the snow arrived. As you can see, the outside is done now. We're trying to resist the temptation to shred the pow and finish the inside of the house. I have my apprentice filming and editing videos weekly now, so stay tuned for more sensational content.
A day trip To Suzuki Mokuzai

This is my favourite place to get timber in Hokkaido. It's a family run business. They have helped me so much over the years, and again today they gave me this old combination machine to help me get started here. House Renovation in Japan Day 1
Просмотров 2814 года назад
This is day 1 of house renovations. I have to admit I've already skipped a fair few weeks without filming, as I'm battling time to get this all done before snow comes. I'm going to try to film as much as possible though. For now this is a little taster
Making a Teak Bath Caddy

The making of a teak bath caddy. A bath Caddy is a tray to put things on while you relax in the bath, like a book or a gin and tonic. To purchase yours follow the link below. I missed a few vital steps in the filming process. Sometimes I get distracted by a phone call and then I forget to film stuff. Apologies about that. www.takumiwoodwork.co.uk/-misc/bath-caddy-1

    Haven't seen those risers with mdf tops before, they're quite clever. Are they specific to Japan, or do they use them in Europe/US as well?

I'm sure RUclips will keep suggesting your videos to new people, so just keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to follow your move and your channel in the years to come. All the best from Denmark.

      You have to go direct to Felder and get a personalised quote based on what spec you want. It's not cheap. £17K+

      I was too excited about my new machine. I agree a beginner should most definitely use the guards. I admit my ignorance in sharing this on RUclips. Feel free to show them, and then please also show them my website if you don’t mind. Have a lovely day, Paul.

    Awesome work. You mentioned on your Instagram story that you'd consider teaching Japanese woodworking techniques disrespectful. Why is that?

    • @takumiwoodwork8044
      @takumiwoodwork8044 5 лет назад

      James H Thank you very much! Well I could write a lot here but, in short. I think I’d need to be fluent in Japanese and have spent my whole life learning to even consider teaching it. Even then, I would probably only be comfortable acting as a translator. There is so much more to it than I can even comprehend. It is not a subject to be taken lightly. I am a 30 year old from the Isle of Man, who did a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship. It’s an incredibly rich culture and I would never be able to do it justice.

    these Felder combination machines are beautiful but I had to buy an SCMI which is a very good machine as well at a much lesser cost.

    • @takumiwoodwork8044
      @takumiwoodwork8044 5 лет назад

      I did look at the SCM but my gut said Felder. It's been great so Far. I know a lot of SCM machines fill workshops around the world without fault though.

      That is my dilemma right now, SCM or Felder. I’m also wanting to get myself in front of these machines, but they are tough to find. I’m also trying to find out from people who own these sliders, when it comes to processing sheet goods, does the outrigger set up stay pretty accurate. Thx
