Move out day for the Roanoke Chapter of the NRHS. As the old Visco facility was sold to a developer. The chapter was not part of the future plans for the area. They have a new location but it needs a switch and rail. The equipment will be stored until the work is completed. RF&P 101 was leased because the T6 had mechanical problems.

First up is a North bound train in Thomasville NC from a few weeks ago. Second up is the 161 on 151 in Webster Va then entering Roanoke. After that the train makes its reverse move to 8 and half so they can run the wye to the service area. Then we catch NS270 leaving town.

We visited Clifton Forge Va on Sunday June 23 2024 for C&O heritage days. First we see CSX C210 at Iron Gate, VA. Then a remote job switching cars in the yard. A very cool Chessie System GP30 pulls passengers around the property. The Eastbound Cardinal leaves after its station stop. Then the highlight for us was the elusive 1776. C112 had it mid train DPU. On Saturday June 8 2024 me and my son took Amtrak 156 to DC then 147 back that evening. Power on our trains were P42’s 15 and 89. I had rode excursions with Amtrak equipment in the past , but this was my first Amtrak revenue trip as well.

A short chase of 12Z. Between Troutville Va and just South of Buchanan Va.

This was the first time the refurbished NS 1074 had visited our area. We chased it from Vickers VA to Glenver VA. The first clip is 288 at Plum Creek (Radford VA). The last one is a Northbound at Troutville VA.

First up was NS 350 near Raleigh NC. Then Amtrak 51 with the 203 leading. A southbound NS train on the Shenandoah line at Lynwood VA. Then a couple of forgotten clips from Thomasville NC. Both northbound trains. One had the Reading heritage unit second out.

With the exception of the last clips in Roanoke. The rest of these clips were all taken from the ball field at Buchanan, Va while we practice or play games. It’s a great place to enjoy baseball and trains.

While visiting our Daughter in Pensacola FL. The Blue Angels practiced on Wednesday. Tuesday they were rained out. I thought the video was worth sharing. We stood in her front yard to watch. First up we have what’s probably 14Z working hard up the grade in Troutville Va. Then 279 in Marion Va. Next up 19W entering Roanoke and crossing the diamond at JK tower. Notice sitting in South Yard the NS 1111 barcode was trailing motor on a coal train. Finally a few trains from Thomasville NC in the rain.

From a couple of weeks ago in January we had the southbound local crossing JK tower. Then a remote yard job switching cars. On to February. The Erie on 11z. 19M enters a sad looking North yard as 277 departs. 765 roll into town then 11Z follows.

My first recordings of 2024. 14Z had to drop off some cars. The trailing unit 4074 was originally 8764 the first Dash 9 NS purchased. The Northbound train at Ellis Run was a happenstance as we were getting gas in the car and heard the horn!

This empty hopper train had some interesting cars in it. At least 3 Top Gon hoppers. There are not very many of these left in coal service. The one and only Pier6 hopper, and a Rapid Discharge 5 bay hopper normally used in power plant service.
