I'm sorry that that is happening <3 And I agree there is a housing crisis, my husband and I have been trying to move out to somewhere cheaper for the last 8 months but there is nothing available. We have been excluded many times from rental agents because we are expats and many people don't want to rent to expats. We were very grateful that the company helped us find a place. But luckily it was in the news a few weeks ago that Eindhoven government will be building new housing/apartments this year to try end the housing crisis, so hopefully by the end of this year it will cool down and there will be space for everyone and places to live wont be so expensive!

Be aware that refugees still have priority, next there are Dutch civilians who have been on waiting lists for 15 years or longer and if there would be still apartments for rent after all of that, it's between you and 50 000 other people looking for a home. And since you already have housing, chances are very slim for you.

@@Halo3vidIt is possible, but it takes a LONG LONG time. I’m 46 years old, finally have an appartment, but I had to search/wait for more than 15 years. At one point I actually became homeless, and throughdifferent instances I finally got a home. Pfffff.

For the rest, try via employers, don't fall prey to all those 'agencies ' that make you pay a premium and then only deliver stuff from 2500 euros per month . Networking like a mad thing might help . Buying is near impossible unless you have 100 000 Euro's in hand to start off a bank loan . We are a tiny country with lots of people and building for the huursektor is shamefully low .

Hi Delphine! It really depends on how you wanna live in the Netherlands! Food is quite cheap to buy, but restaurants are expensive. And hotels here are relatively cheap if you stay in a small town or outside of the big cities (outside of Utrecht, Rotterdam, Amsterdam). So if you stay in a hostel or a cheap airbnb you looking at 40-100 euros a night (x20= 800-2000 rand). The flights here are around 18 000 rand (round trip if you book FAR in advance) and then visa was R2500. Tourist attractions are quite cheap in comparison to for example the restaurants! (the restaurants really are annoyingly expensive lol) for example you can do a canal cruise in Amsterdam for as little as 12euros! and tickets to small attractions (museums and such) are around 20euros. So as someone who is super frugal I genuinely do the attractions that are cheaper/free or I just walk around the cities or if I wanna go to a "restaurant" i will just go for a coffee at a café which is very affordable (3-5euros) or have a treat from a stand (also 3-5euros). Travelling around Netherlands is also expensive by train. To get from one side of Netherlands to the other and back is 44euros. But you can get specials which is GREAT! Also the bus is quite cheap about 1-2euros per trip. So all in all, the most expensive thing on your trip will DEFINITELY be your accomodation! If you can find a place that is nice but also affordable, then yes 80k will DEFO be enough! Maybe even less if you dont buy things you dont need! (You can also get cheaper flight tickets if you DONT bring luggage and only carry on)

No not at all this is all only to move here! If you want to visit you will just need to apply for a visa and have the documents in order and then go to the Visa Embassy that Netherlands has its location at (in SA, Cape Town it was in town centre) and then you hand in your passport and then they send the passport to have your visa request accepted or denied and then your visa will (if accepted) be put in your passprot and then they post it to you.

SO the best thing to do is go through an agency! The agent doesnt cost toon much and you can email them specifics and they will search for you, send you ones fitting your specifics and then you choose and pay your deposit! If you also want there are hostels in Utrecht and many other towns which you can stay in while you look for an apartment that iare quite cheap. I'd recommend the apartment hunting site Pararius. It has sooo many things on there
