    А как же «Смена-8М»? Самым массовым в мире фотоаппаратом, суммарный выпуск которого вместе с предыдущей моделью «Смена-8» превысил 21 миллион экземпляров. По некоторым данным более точное число составляет 21 041 191 штук (с 1970 по 1995 год включительно). А все правильно у вас, в первый раз не услышал что вы про зеркальную камеру говорили.

    Thanks for the video. I found it very useful and detailed. It is possible to give new life to these old lenses. I recently put an Industar 50 that has a scratched front element on my Fuji Xt1 after cleaning and light polishing to the lens. The result is absolutely beautiful, it is perfect for the female portraiture I want to do in the future. Regards from Jake Everyman.

    I was looking at Zenit cameras and noticed that some of them have metal shutters as opposed to cloth ones. Which of the two would you consider to be more reliable?

    • @russianphoto5869
      @russianphoto5869 4 месяца назад

      Hello If you speak about material itself, then metal is better, no doubt. But the camera does not come to a material of shutter and, to my mind, it's better to choose the specific model depending on the reviews. "Zenits" are very different (37 models are known), so there are old-fashioned "Zenit-C" and "Zenit-3m" from 1960-s, standard "Zenit E" or "Zenit TTL" from the 1970-s and very good "Zenit-19" or "Zenit-Automat" from the 1980-s. Do you need built-in exposure meter and other assistance? Or do you want to get an honest metal camera? After understanding the type of camera, it is easy to find a very reliable model in every decade.

    • @UncleDon226
      @UncleDon226 4 месяца назад

      @@russianphoto5869 I was looking to get an all-metal, fully-manual camera with a light meter that preferably isn't "TTL", but there are so many types I dont know where to start. Something like the Zenit E or Zenit 11. But it was when I was looking at the Zenit 19 I found that metal shutters were used. That made me wonder which type of shutter is less likely to give me problems.

    • @russianphoto5869
      @russianphoto5869 3 месяца назад

      Then I will simply name the models which are considered the best and the most reliablle: "Zenit-11" and "Zenit ET" (the best variants that fully meet your criteria. All metal, fully manual, with built-in non-TTL light meter) "Zenit E" and "Zenit EM" (earlier models with the same features but with a bit worse shutter). Find at marketplaces a fully-working specific camera and you will enjoy it. At my Pinkoi I offer, for example, fully working "Zenit E" with serial number 84119395

      Hello There are only four films now. I am working now on video about "Kiev" rangefinder and this story is very compicated. I have to visit archives to trace the path of "Contax" equipment from Germany that was moved to Kiev. That infomation is not available online and my aim is to give all possible information. That takes a lot of time. Also, I started this channel as promotion for my online-store where I sell vintage photo equipment. Before 2022 I was selling at eBay, but after *something happened* eBay blocked all Russian users. Now I sell at Pinkoi, but the sales volume is frustrating. Thus it is very difficult to find necessary time for work on new film, because I must earn money in another way. If you want new video, please visit my store (the links are in the description). Maybe you will find something interesting.

    By far the most informative video on the Zorki 4. I have three of them that are all slightly different due to the year manufactured. For me it is the most comfortable to use since I have large hands and find it easy to load. I have taken beautiful photos as well. My only issue with this camera and other Soviet cameras (rangefinders and SLRs) is the last shot on the roll. Many times, I get to the final shot and move the shutter advance and it pulls the film from the cartridge. I have started to pay more attention to the number of photos taken and end the roll accordingly. By the way, great music!

    Your video is helpful in understanding how the Zorki 4 operates, however I wish you had explained a few more details about the operation of the shutter settings: Exactly how do you set the shutter speeds from 1 sec to 1/15th of second. I can set the speeds from 1/60th to 1/1000th, but when I try to turn the shutter adjustment to 1/15th or lower after cocking the shutter the shutter adjustment knob will not move counter clockwise to a lower setting. Another unrelated question, can I order a camera from your store in Russia and can you ship to the USA? Can you pay with a VISA card? Thanks

    • @russianphoto5869
      @russianphoto5869 Год назад

      At your service, Mr.Teague. The setting of the shutter speed is made as I described in the video: just rotate the shutter speed disk (only in the sector 1 sec - 1/25 (1/30) is not possible). If you have difficulties with that, I am 100% sure that the problem is in specific camera. The majority of "Zorki-4" cameras which I had, had the range from 1 sec - 1/15 rotated tightly, unlike the other part of the range. And yes, several cameras had this range almost immovable. Yes, sure. Shipping to USA works now fully properly. I have identical stores at Pinkoi and InspireUplift (as eBay blocked all Russian users). The links are in the video description. There are two "Zorki-4" available which are fully working (with s/n 5755339 and 62093722).

    how possible/easy/safe is to do in-camera double exposure with it?

    • @russianphoto5869
      @russianphoto5869 Год назад

      That is possible, though that is not an official function from the manual. Try with not necessary film first! 1. Take a photo as usual. 2. Raise the backwind head. 3. Set ring coupling in lower position. 4. Rotate the backwind head clockwise a bit to strain the film. 5. Then rotate the ring coupling in upper (normal) position. 6. Rotate the backwind head clockwise till the click. 7. Repeat the steps 3-6 two times more and remove the backwind head down. 8. Then cock the shutter and take photo. There will be double exposure of the same frame.
