It's a shame that this has basically 2000 views and 80 likes. Not many people are interested to know about how to world really works. I've spent twenty years researching and engineering AI systems, seeing the effect of the hype as well as the ignorance about the topic before it was hyped, I cannot trust any scientific field anymore, indeed, more I investigate the topic more I found stories of hype and corruption behind almost every big scientific "discovery". Science is dead, and turned into a religion during the last three hundred years, I believe that the people who rigged the religions in the past, has moved into science, seeing that it would become the future of mass control. There is no organization, nation, or union, with power, that is not born by the result of a conspiracy, the whole human history is based on conspiring against each other. It's not the first time that medias try to make people disregard this fact, creating and spreading impossible conspiracies themselves, to make less educated people believe in them, to then discredit the profile of "the conspiracy theorist" as a whole.

No different to Heath insurance. Everything gets more expensive yet studies show less positive results decade after decade. Hype is the new way to make money. Everything else is slow and limited returns.

An interesting selection of retrospective examples deemed as 'failures' by the author. I believe it would merit further discussions and some more in-depth fact-based understanding of the reasons, not just arriving at conclusions based on observations and feelings.

So informative, clear and interesting.

After working in advertising in Japan for years I loved these examples...I found some western brands to be stubborn and often not willing to either believe the market is unique or unwilling to adapt! The ones that adapted were rewarded with consumer loyalty!
