I remember seeing them all the time in the UK as a 14 year old, and admired their rock n roll spirit and thinking this is what RN'R should look and sound like without knowing too much yet, and discovering bands like Hanoi Rocks, Heartbreakers, etc. through them. It's not always about selling millions of records, you can as a band leave an impression and good memories for many people. They should always be proud of the music and shows because it is remembered. They were friendly to me, i'd see their van with the bats on the side! I always thought their could have been a good New York scene of glam bands with a strong punk leaning but the bands were all a bit out of sink... Star Star, Pillbox, Gunfire Dance, NY Loose, D-Generation, Toilet Boys, Waldos, Demolition 23, Backyard Babies...who am I missing? At the time I was being driven insane by the song Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden on constant rotation MTV just utter shite! I was young and energetic, not some miserable dick who can't find anything to celebrate in life. I wanted to wear cool clothes and stay out all night but people seemed anti-rock n roll and just wore baggy jeans and wasted the best years of their lives living like middle aged bores given up on life way too soon ,and these bands rebelled against that herd mentality in the 90's culture

I was THERE. JT lives on in those that continue to remember his genius and honor his memory. Waldos, Coiro, Bebe, et al. IF you were there you know how extrafucking special that night was. I met and got The GENIUS PHOTOG BOB GRUEN'S business card from him, ans was invited to several of his image expositions/shows in thr next few years. Bob and I spent that show absorbing and APPECIATING the Rock ICON that Johnny Thunders was, not knowing each other, but in FULL acknowledgement of his MASSIVE contribution to the Rock and Roll Lexicon and Library. I mean rock out to JT with Bob Gruen! True Fucking Story.

This is so mind blowing seeing this. I'm here totally by accident. I was watching a CBGB's movie and remember hanging out there in the 70's. I was thinking "wow...I was on that stage!" I used to follow a band at the time that were friends of mine from my neighborhood, called "straight edge." We would go on stage with them as they sang a song they wrote about us (and basically wreak havoc!) The bass player for that band was Tony Coiro. He's the bass player here in the Waldos. So nostalgia caused my to look for Straight Edge which then led me to Tony which led here. Amazing!! Great memories. Wild times. Great to see he did good! A same his life ended so soon.

Played in a band many times at the YIP squatted venue at 10 Bleecker St in the late 70s.
