CO was joined by LORD DOWDING, SIR KEITH PARK and 92 SQUADRON, supported by 76017 and 80078 with 41312 working local services.

@@trevorshattock well I certainly can’t disagree with you. 1961 was my intro to the Welsh Narrow gauge railways. Did one volunteer work on the TR, visited the Festiniog, Tan y Bwlch was a lawn then….and had a trip on the V of R. Went to all of those over many years but now I’m 83 don’t travel too far but terrific memories and fortunately my wife also fell under the spell!

Could I potentially use the clip at 1:38 in a video I'm doing about Lord Nelson? It's a good demonstration of thanks to the 4-cylinder layout and 135 degree offset on the axles, the locomotive has 8 chuffs per rotation of the driving wheels, making sound twice as fast than it's really going. Credit will be given.

I remember the headline . at the time over the cost but there were several other tours that day (mine being one of them), at reasonable cost which received no publicity. We often saw the locos from the other tours, polished up at the sheds by volunteers. It was a busy day for BR Control.

I went over here in 1961 on the Cambrian Coast express, it was of course steam hauled, a grand memory for me nearly 63 years later!

When and why was it changed from green to blue?
A lot of express passenger locos were painted blue in the early 1950's, including the A1's. Tornado's blue period didn't last long, around 2013/14 I think
