Capital Comic Book Convention - Interview with Janet and Ronn.
old action comics i should be more aware.
Nice books mate, you look to have some mighty fine & fun reading ahead of you
Love the Batman pickups and that Firestar! Spiderman and his Amazing Friends was such a formative cartoon for little me. The music lives rent free in my head nearly all the time. Great haul, Matt!
Excellent pickups Matt. The Red Sonja cover is nice, been looking at a few issues recently.
I had the hardest time identifing exactily what series and cover it was; there are so many Red Sonja books.
After a funko pop myself. yep hard to get once you miss it.
9:50 "...a bit of an unemployed alcoholic man." Is that his superhero name? 😅😅
It sure is.
Wow I have that LOL!
I've never heard of the fella or his comic!
If you are into music, you may know his sons, they were the rythym section of Bowie's band Tin Machine.
@@Matt_Likes_Comics oh right, I've heard of that band but never listened to them, my music tastes are on the noisy heavy side
Great content, Matt!❤❤
My name is Graham and I like comics too. Welcome to this meeting of comics anonymous it's been 3 days since I last bought some comics!! haha all great books mate, thanks for your thoughts and information on that run
Awesome, I didn't know you'd show off non super hero comic. I love Archie, I buy there little books all the time. I didn't know they make comic. I'll have to watch you video on Soupy Sales. Never heard of him. Another great short.
Great video, Matt. Another Superman Puppet, yikes! This is an era for the Legion that I don't know a lot about. Love the summaries.
They are all cool looking covers mate, I either own or want to own all of them haha The devil voodoo one I will be using on my Saturday show Cover Slingers Showdown this week for our magic themed show. Ahh that lucky Bouncing Boy! That 'confessions' cover is my birthday book, cover dated Sep 1969 the same as me. All cool comics mate
I'l be checking out your Cover Slingers
question? when was Superboy and the Legion ?
After this; starting in late 1972ish
Another great video! Always fun to reminisce with a fellow Legion fan! I started reading with S/LSH 198, way back when, although I believe my first exposure was Adventure 403. I enjoyed your video, following along with my copies of the Action Comics, and also following your story descriptions with my Legion Archives volume 9! You got to that mix up, and I'm like, "Whaa...?? This doesn't sound like the story at all!" You made me laugh at that one... and at your disappearing joke. Thanks Matt, I just subscribed!
I'm really glad you enjoyed. I kept that part because everyone screws up and I laughed about it later. Thanks for subscribing
Oooh it's on my list already, thanks for the info though
Very nice mate, I am not collecting these.... yet! We'll see what the future brings!
Great cover, I love it
Yo 🤘
Hi!
Great retrospective for a great creator! Gonna re-read my DCCP Superman and the Substitute Heroes! Another fun read is Keith's and JM's Defenders mini! Thanks for the video!
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
All awesome books guys, I either own or want to own all of these myself. I have a nice batch of both Lois & Jimmy. it's nice to see them getting some love. I thought that Herko was seen again in a later Lois issue but don't quote me on that
I will look into that again
Thanks! Man, I would love to be wrong about Herko. Another appearance would be great!
@@HaulYeahComics-ft4xl Lois 54 and 57 I think
@@thegreyman Holy cow! I think you're right. I do not own #57, but believe me, I'll have it ordered before the end of the night! You have made my day, brother! Thank you!
@@thegreyman I'm glad there is an answer. I have been out with the family and haven't had a chance to look it up. I'll be getting it too
Welcome to the comic book community from one comictuber to another 👋
Thank you very much.
@@Matt_Likes_Comics i zbd ya up hope to catch more of your stuff and if you have time come through im have a massive g!v3@w@y
This is an era I missed. I think I'll hunt down some trades to check it out!
Man, I would take a Herko in my life. 😅 I didn't know they made a "Superman's Girlfriend" series. You have such a neat collection.
Thanks
Great drawing of 80's era Letterman
I really liked this run. Cool interaction between Kara and Guy. I totally agrees with the idea of the "cultural shock" Kara must have experienced on Earth, and this is why I think she should move to the 31st century and hang out with the Legion (and Querl Dox of course).
The problem is the Legion in the New 52 seemed to be located on Earth-2 if you remember Bouncing Boy's conversation with his wife in LSH 23 from the New 52 run (last issue). He mentions Superman killed by Steppenwolf.
You have the crazy eyes in the thumbnail! 😂😂😂
Ladies and gentlemen, please meet Mrs. Likes Comics.
@@Matt_Likes_Comics We're all lucky to have a Mrs. putting up with us! I laughed out loud at this 😂
I remember that run! Very kick ass Green Lantern and Red Lantern run!
Awesome stuff I kinda stoped reading around this time didn’t really have any stores around that didn’t take two hours to get to. I’ll definitely have to check this one out though. 👍👍
Great video, Matt! I love Keith's work so much. The Bwa-ha-ha era, was my era. I get why some people didn't dig it, but I loved it. Keith's art style changed so much over the years and I really enjoyed it all.
Similar to the Team-Up on Saturday Night Live I think it was
I like the Vamipella #22 Warren Magazines as it actually has the person who played an Enemy Vampire To Lestat himself in the actual Movie ( Interview With A Vampire)on the actual Painted Cover itself with Vampirella Extraordinary Likeness.
wonder what happened to Soupy Sales?
He went on to have a middling career after the incident and died a few years ago. His two sons however were musicians and played in the band Tin Machine with David Bowie.
@@Matt_Likes_Comics interesting
I remember Soupy Sales, when I was young. Yeah, interesting show.
Wow, another very cool one. The avengers really do get around, huh? Did Letterman have any input on this one or did they just ask for permission?
That DC Comics Presents with Legion of Substitute Heroes is one of my fave funny stories ever! I never liked the 'funny' JLA at the time it came out and cancelled buying it, I wanted serious superhero-ing also they made my beloved Blue Beetle a bit of a joke and that riled me. I only got a couple of the Ambush Bug 12 parter and it never hit the mark for me.
That Substitute Heroes story turned me into a huge fan.
Never knew about Keith Giffen. I also find foreign price variants interesting and enticing to collect. Excellent video.
i think i have a lot of that era of legion. definite have the subsitute legion stuff.
lol too funny
Best of luck getting to your goal mate
I got that for FCBD too but I haven't read it yet!
Do they team up to do a cover of the Archies band song 'Sugar Sugar'?
No they do a KISS song in the end.
I just completed my runs of Supergirl Vol 1 and 2 but I have still to read them, so thanks for limiting the spoilers
That was an interesting fact about the name there, cheers
I like a bit of humour but some of the full-on humour attempts leave me a bit cold. I've not read this one though
I am trying to buy this run but the silly Masters of the Universe book is a pain
If you watch, you can get it for a bargain. I won it (MofU) at an auction for 75 bucks less than FMV.
I pretty much love every Marvel and DC team-up book, not that I have them all but I'd like to!
Not for me thanks, give me books that have the stars on the cover personally. Nice enough art though
Nice sig mate
Herko is one of the last, great, true romantics!
