I get your hesitation. If you’ve never prayed before or have doubts if there even is a God, it can feel silly like you’re talking to the air. I would encourage you, though, to entertain the idea of taking a faith journey to discover more about yourself and the possibility of God. You won’t regret it and the search for greater love and peace can only benefit you.

Maybe it is because we made up gods? I’m not saying that there isn’t something “more than ourselves”, or denying the supernatural, but all of the mythologies we’ve created have very human narratives. If there is/are god(s), that have unknowable/incomprehensible motivations and understanding about the Universe and our involvement with it, then they are pretty useless to us, aren’t they? Why consult them? They cannot be understood. Why worship them? We do not know what they truly hold dear. But if we made them up to represent an “Uber-Royalty” that are divinely capable to help/hinder, build/destroy, love/hate as we would, for motivations similar to ours, we can see ourselves in their transcendence. Maybe we just needed to be inspired to reveal our humanity?
