Hello Everyone!
I am a Licensed Structural Engineer and an Educational Consultant for high school students.
I was raised in Karachi, Pakistan by two hard working parents who came up from nothing. Though they had never been to school themselves, they always made learning and education a priority.
I did my undergraduate studies at NED University of Engineering and Technology in Civil Engineering in 1986 and graduate studies in Structural Engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1989.
After working in the public sector for 33 years, I joined the private consulting as a Senior Structural Engineer.
Over the last 35 years, I have learned numerous lessons in the areas of health, education, and personal finance which I’ve in turn applied as best practices in my own family to improve the quality of life.
The purpose of this channel is to simply share this knowledge with the broader community without giving any advice or recommendation.

Sleep and physical activity are both fundamental pillars of overall health and are closely interlinked in maintaining a good quality of life. Adequate sleep, typically 7-9 hours for adults, is essential for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. It allows the body to repair itself, strengthen the immune system, and consolidate memories, all of which are vital for cognitive function and emotional balance. Chronic sleep deprivation can lead to a variety of health issues, such as increased risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity, and mental health disorders like anxiety and depression.

The ApoE (Apolipoprotein E) gene comes in three common alleles: ApoE2, ApoE3, and ApoE4, which can combine in different genotypes like 2/2, 2/3, and 2/4. These genotypes influence cholesterol metabolism and have implications for cardiovascular and Alzheimer's disease risk. ApoE 2/2: This genotype is generally considered cardio-protective and linked to a reduced risk of Alzheimer’s. The ApoE2 al...

The APOE genotype 3/4 is associated with a slightly increased risk of certain health conditions, including cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s. This genotype influences lipid metabolism and may affect the body’s ability to manage inflammation and oxidative stress. Elevated TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) can indicate suboptimal thyroid function, which may c...

The APOE 3/3 genotype is the most common variant of the apolipoprotein E gene, generally associated with average risks for lipid metabolism disorders and cardiovascular disease. However, when combined with vitamin D deficiency, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and an elevated coronary calcium score (a marker of atherosclerotic plaque), the risk of cardiovascular disease increases. Addressing t...

This vlog explains the concept of fat/cholesterol metabolism based on one's Apoe genotype. We have basic three alleles of Apoe genotype as 2, 3 and 4. Each one of us inherited one copy from each parent resulting in total of six combination as 2/2, 2/3, 2/4, 3/3, 3/4 and 4/4. About 60% of the world population is Apoe 3/3 and and the rest of the five combinations are 40% of the world population. ...

What are the vitamin K recommendations for APOE 4/4?
There are no guidelines as RDA yet, but as per research, the literature says that ApoE 3/4 and 4/4 would need more than ApoE 3 and ApoE 2 folks. My wife is 3/4, and she takes about 800 to 1000mcg in the form of supplement and natto. Check my other vlog on my wife's case study as ApoE 3/4 where I have shared some references under description.
Any concerns with micro plastics with this method? Would it be possible to do the same "concoction" using glass bottle (pouring the seltzer in a glass bottle and mixing the powder? What about using sparkling water that comes in glass bottles like peregrino? I am unsure wether carbonic acid (H2CO3) is present in natural occurring sparkling waters. Thanks
Very valid question. Yes, I was concerned too and looked extensively on the brands to use. This particular brand is free from all as per California guidelines of Better Living Brands LLC. You can also use a glass bottle, but it has to be only carbonated plain water. There is nothing else in it, such as any flavor and additives. One can make their own by using a co2 adding machine in distilled water. The CO2 and water combine makes it carbonic acid. On a separate note, we tested for any toxins in the blood last year since I consumed one to two square of dark chocolate as my desert.
@ could you share the brand name of carbonated water you are using ? Is it available nationally?
It's signature select seltzer water 2L. www.albertsons.com/shop/product-details.960042186.html You may find in Albertsons, Safeway and related grocery stores. Make sure it has no flavor added. Just plain Carbonated water.
Thank you so much
You're welcome!
Thank you for your prompt response. God bless you for putting out all your knowledge. I will have to have the test done privately here in Canada. I was wondering how to read the results though? I guess i have to find a Functional Medicine doctor to interpret the report
Aameen! There is nothing to interpret in the test result. The test result will show one of the six category of APOE genotype for your blood test as 2/2, 2/3, 2/4, 3/3, 3/4, 4/4. Genotype 3/3 is very common around the world of about 65% of the population. It's tough to get a referral in Canada since it's NHS. You need to get it done privately.
Thank you for putting out all your knowledge
Welcome to the community of learners! Thanks, and please spread the channel within and outside the community for their benefit in implementing the quality of lives.
Where do I check what genotype I am please?
One way is to ask your primary care doctor to write a test referral for the APOE Genotype Test. Once you get the referral, the lab will draw the blood and send it for testing. You will get your report in 8 to 10 days. This is once in a lifetime Test. One has to do it only once. If your doctor doesn't give you a referral, then you can get tested from either 23andme.com or walkinglabs.com, etc.
Excellent information.
Welcome to the community of learners! Thanks, and I am glad that the information was helpful. Please spread the knowledge to others for their benefit.
Great job with stabilizing calcium score by diet. What is your thoughts on soft plaque which is more dangerous and ct angiogram for risk evaluation?
Yes, soft plaque is not shown on it unless it's done with contrast dye. I had a discussion with my doctor, and he said we will monitor it, and it may get done in the future. Heart disease has numerous factors besides CAC only, such as high Lp(a), family history, and numerous other parameters hsCRP, insulin resistance, etc. Fortunately, all the parameters are under the optimum. My main issues were low HDL and high small LDL-P. If HDL is low, then ldl particles will remain suspended longer in the blood and tend to get oxidized. Also, I eat Natto for an enzyme Nattokianase, which dropped my fibrin level from 274 to 220.
Can’t wait to hear about ApoE 3,4
Welcome to the community of Lerners! I have done a few vlogs on ApoE Genotype and its relationship with fat and cholesterol metabolism. Please watch those as well so you can understand the upcoming case study very well.
Berries are mostly fructose, good for herbernation.
Berries are low glycemic index and low glycemic load fruits with lot of polyphenols and antioxidants.
Most olive oils are commercialized. Stay away.
That's why I gave the detailed explanation what to look for and particularly traceable from European source after the specs verification from their website.
Did u go on a statin
Welcome to the community of learners! No, I refused to take the statin and chose the lifestyle modifications instead considering all my risk factors. My doctor never believed it in the first place that lifestyle changes will work.
Could you disclose what brand of krill oil you are supplementing with? I have been taking 2 grams of omega 3 s gif years to get adequate amounts of EPS and DHA. In a quick search online I didn’t find krill oil with comparable amounts.
I take sports research brand 1000mg. It comes in 500mg and 1000m. We take 1000mg a day and eat sockeye twice a week.
You mention that you can have cream and make homemade yogurt for probiotics, etc. Does the benefit of consuming homemade yogurt overcome the disadvantage of adding saturated fat to one’s diet for someone who needs to watch and decrease the consumption of those fats? For someone with “allele 4 “ for example line your wife?
@hellada5922 , I try to avoid anything processed or available in the market. I make yogurt from grassfed whole milk, Kalona brand. Yes, it is full fat, but some fat is ok since yogurt is a fermented product. We only eat 3 tbsp of yogurt for D absorption after dinner. She doesn't eat butter or desi ghee, including beef. My wife has a CAC score of zero. She needs calcium in food form.
Hello snd thank you for the generous explanation and sharing of how your meals look like. It is so helpful. I wanted to ask you for genetic type testing you are referring to that links with consumption of saturated fats and Dementia. Is there a link you can provide for further reading?
I have included all the references in the description of each vlog, so whatever I am discussing is backed up by science and references. Please check the description for each vlog. As far as testing for APOE Genotype is concerned, anyone can get tested from 23andme or quest or labcorp, walking labs etc. Your doctor can give you a referral as well.
Sorry but I am unable to find any notes or any description. Just the transcript. Am I missing something?
@hellada5922, there are references of the websites in the description where you should be able to find more details. But if I made a vlog on some recipe, then it's my own creation, and you may not find any references for that. I have explained in the vlog if there are some important concepts.
I came across your channel recently and I must admit that I am in awe for all the detailed information you provide. I look forward to listening to all your vlogs! Now, for Vitamin D I want to ask you since you calculated that 5000IU gets you to the range that you want do you continue to take it everyday , even in the summer? In other words you never stop it during the year? Also I take 5000 IU that comes with K (150 mcg). You mention taking 800mcg of K . Is that a dose that you think is necessary? Are lower doses( ie. 150mcg) not enough to balance the calcium absorption? Thank you for all the wisdom you are so gracefully sharing.
Thanks, and welcome to the community of learners! You are asking very important questions, and most of them I addressed in various vlogs on vitamin D and k2. I am in chicago, and we have a very small window of summer to make D via sunlight. Also, as we age, our D absorption through sunlight goes down. So, I try to target for my family around 75 to 80 ng/ml based on winter months. If I make it in summer through sunlight, that is bonus. I have reached in one summer 105 ng/ml but my calcium in the blood dropped from 9.4 to 9.2 since I am taking almost 800 mcg of k2. We started by taking 100mcg of k2 but came short in the blood at the cellular level for my wife. She has osteopenia and I have atherosclerosis. Therefore, we started taking more to have enough at the cellular level. It means my excess calcium is going to the places where it belongs, such as bones and teeth. Me and my wife are apoe genotype 3/3 and 3/4 so we don't have any clearance issue of k2. I am typical and my wife clears very fast. If someone carries allele 2 then they are better off with mk4 version since their clearance is slow. Please watch my each and every vlog by taking time. I have gone into very detail on the issues that I came across and how I mitigated those through research. I may have spent countless hours digging the info based on science and you will get ton of science based knowledge and my personal experiences with best practices. I hope it will help you to understand more after watching all the vlogs.
@ I will need to sit down and listen and take notes. Usually I listen when I go on walks in the Philly area that I live but the amount of detail and nuance in your videos requires alot of attention to absorb and put to practice. 🙏
That's a good idea. I take my time in doing things diligently and never took shortcuts or quick fixes in life. This channel is purely based on sharing knowledge that I have acquired through research, experiences, and best practices over the last 40 years.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us, I appreciate all your research, and I am looking forward to hearing more about this topic.
Thanks, and welcome to the community of learners! We have to do everything possible, which is at our disposal in maintaining our health for better quality of life. Please watch other videos as well to get a better understanding of how each and everything works when it comes to overall health.
A diabetic person can't be healthy!!!!!
Yes, insulin resistance increases the probabilities of numerous health issues, including non communicable diseases.
I would like that you were more specific in the "certain lifestyle modifications" that you did... did you explained it in another video? wich one, please?
Yes, I have covered each and every element in every video since I can't explain everything in one video. If someone goes through each video and makes notes, then one should be able to put things in perspective. There will be more to come.
Vitamin D is not a Vitamin, its a harmon.
Yes. Vitamin D is a precursor to a harmone. Please watch all my videos on D. I think I have taken enough time to explain the basics of D and its relationship with overall health and various diseases including covid and flu.
Change your habits. Best learning is unlearn and relearn. Eat less, sleep more, and move all day.
@gatemanor, welcome to the community of learners! I agree with everything you said except I don't agree with sleep more. Sleep is a big factor when it comes to overall health, but it has an optimum value, which can be explained by the J curve. Let's hold on to this thought since I will explain in one of the upcoming future vlog. Overall, you are on the right track.
Hy, my name is Paulo and I’m from Brazil. I make my cardiologic analysis annual. In January 25 I'll make 70 years old. Like you I have my calcium score zero except in my descendent artery. In this artery my calcium score is so much than you, 218 in dec/22 and 202 now dec/24. It decreases by eating more proteins and good fats.
@paulojota159 , welcome to the community of learners! It's great that you are successful in lowering your CAC score. Eating clean and close to nature has amazing benefits.
Hello Nadir Sir, I like your way to teaching and reenforcing the information. Your video deserve more views. First time i become more serious about Vit D after looking into your video on Vit D. I shared that video with my brother and friends. Now I am going to share this video as well. Thanks for posting and keep posting.
Thanks, Mahesh! Mostly, people are looking for quick fixes and short videos for like 5 to 6 minutes. Unfortunately, you can't educate and explain with its basics in 5 minutes of video. I have been learning and understanding my entire life and sharing it with the community at large. There are no shortcuts in life. Education is the best investment that pays dividends for generations. I am very happy that the vlogs are helping you. Keep paying it forward by helping and educating others.
Very good perceptive!! It's Genes
Yes, the genes are part of the puzzle when it comes to one's health, but it's not a death sentence. We must educate ourselves to mitigate the non favorable genes by doing alternative measures like lifestyle, diet etc.
I was doing keto to reduce my morning fasting glucose levels and after 6 months my cholesterol LDL jumped to 180! I had been between 129-140 for the last 5 years. Apob and LDL - p is also super elevated however I had not done those tests before. I know this is for educational purposes only but I wanted to ask you if you can have a “ discussion “ for the steps you would recommend based on your journey. It would probably take me more than a year to listen to all your videos and take action. I already have requested to see a cardiologist, not sure when I can be seen. I am not sure if I have to start taking statins right away and all these questions…. I will very much value your “ two cents” into my struggle. 🙏
@hellada5922 , I have a plan of doing a case study comparing me and my wife side by side next week. We both carry different ApoE genotypes, and we both have different risks. We both have different blood parameters, etc. How are we dealing with diet and other lifestyle changes?
@@KnowledgeforQOL I have lowered my fat consumption for few weeks now , since the labs came out. I have low triglycerides 67 and an HDl of 70. My HOMA -I R is 1.4. I have done also the carotid and the result was “ no significant plaque “ found. I am due for CAC next week. Is the genetic testing something that I go to the lab and request it? Is it something that the doctor can order?
Will you present the case study next week on you/ tube?
What should i do
@akashsarker1748 , if I were you then I would consult a well qualified cardiologist to diagnose the problem and address it.
@@KnowledgeforQOL i consult best cardiologist of our country they all said all of your reports are normal they given me idea to consult Anxiety related doctors
@@KnowledgeforQOL my age is 24 i did troponin i when heart attack like events happened result negative i did CT coronary angiogram is culcium score zero not had any kind of plunge, tmt normal, echo normal, ecgs some time changes now i what should i do sir
@@KnowledgeforQOL i visit more that 10 different cardiologist in Bangladesh
@akashsarker1748 , I understand that all your reports are normal, but you mentioned earlier that the doctor said you have LVH, which means your left ventricle has a thickened wall. Did they say anything to address it? What is the root cause of that? I also have some questions which I think you should ask yourself as well. 1. Are you doing high intensive training in the gym? 2. Is your BP normal? 3. Do you have a lot of stress and anxiety? Read here some literature related to anxiety and related symptoms. It may help in understanding more. www.woodlandsheartinstitute.com/blog/anxiety-and-chest-pain-are-they-linked Remember, our body is very complicated, and sometimes there are minor things that we normally overlook and focus on major health issues. The same is true when we have major issues and treat it as a minor problem. Also, check for the nutrients and minerals if they are OK, such as potassium, magnesium, zinc, iron, selenium, copper, etc. These are crucial minerals that can play a vital role in anxiety, specifically magnesium. Eat a well-balanced diet. I hope and pray that you feel better soon.
Sir 2 year before i had some problem like when i was in deep sleep that time i saw bad dreams and my heart star beat like 170 after that i did ecg doctor said i have left ventricular hypertrophy after that this year suddenly i have heart attack like events in February 8 it was so pain full event i suddenly feel i was die at the moments then that whole night my heart palpitation is really bad then from then till now i fell discomfort in my chest and pain after that june 13th i had heart attack like event once again that time soo much pain and burning sensation in my chest back right hand atfer that i did Troponin i, Ct coronary angiogram, TMT,Echo thrice and 10-15 ecgs but all are normal what should i do i doesn’t do anything if i out from home i always fair to get a heart attack
@akashsarker1748 , consult a well qualified cardiologist and seek the medical advice.
Based on your previous videos, I have added Brazil nut and single cap of NOW Foods, Thyroid Energy (recommended two). My wife's T3, Total is 0.8 ng/mL and T4, Total is 5.0 and TSH is 6.75. We will test it after 45 days to check the level again
@maheshsinghtube , get the iodine and selenium checked as well if both of them are adequate. Sometimes various foods deplete iodine as well.
Hello Nadir Sir, Hope you are doing great. Any suggestion on which brand you are taking for Vit D & K2. I know you are not endorsing any brand. But which one you are using will be helpful.
Any D3 and k2 in gelcap form emulsified in oil is good. Just make sure that the oil is not any seed oil. I only prefer extra virgin olive oil or coconut based oil.
Good info. Ty! Did you take a statin at any time ?
I was recommended to take the statin but never took and changed my lipid profile with an alternative lifestyle, and that's what I shared in my other vlog. My mom took statin for 10 years when I was in the dark as far as the proper understanding of our health. When I realized that it's hurting her health and her risk was minimal for CVD, then I stopped it for her. She lived 99 years and passed away this year in April.
My doc wants me to get one due to high tryglicerides. I’m scared shitless
I lowered my triglycerides to 47 from 90 by avoiding sugars, refined flours and simple carbs. No pills.
Some liquors raise triglycerides too.
@ginadonza3549 , yes alcohol increases blood glucose, which will increase TG as well. I don't have to worry about that since I am alcohol free.
Control by diet. Don’t be a victim of big pharma
Hi Nadir, Is it ok to make to garbanzo beans? Get the same effect?
@bengeorge69 Yes, you can make it with garbanzo beans as well. Since the garbanzo beans are bigger in surface area as compared to kotsubu beans (smaller size soybeans), it will not produce a lot of slime ( Nattokianase). Are you concerned about eating soy due to estrogen or something else? I have made it with garbanzo as well, but I like my Natto with smaller size beans. If you decide to make it with garbanzo beans then make sure to steam the beans perfectly.
My issues is getting non gmo glyphosate free from local store.
@bengeorge69 , where are you located? If you are in USA then you can get it shipped from Laura soybeans. They are local farmer in Iowa. Amazing non gmo certified beans. I get it from them in 5 lbs bag.
Texas will do saw it on Amazon. Thanks for the info!
@bengeorge69, you can also get it shipped from Laura soybeans. laurasoybeans.com/?srsltid=AfmBOorKfcmhjih3KIjUeaNqQk7PhqCH4wy0O8uoyt1S5FpfZsFHn-Lp
Àpo e which labs you recommend? Thanks!
@bengeorge69 , you can ask your doctor, and he can give you a referral. If there is an issue with health insurance, then one can go directly to 23andme or walking labs or lab Corp or quest.
Thank you so much for sharing such valuable information. I haven't seen any video on youtube that is as comprehensive as yours on Vitamin D dosage with real facts & statistics.
Glad it was helpful!
Great insights for metabolic health!
Thanks! Welcome to the community of learners.
Are all types of soybeans suitable for making natto?
Any soybeans would work but Kotsubu beans produce the best Natto. Kotsubu beans are smaller in size that I use, since the surface area of beans are smaller and if property steamed, the bacterias attach better in consuming the natural sugar on the surface, producing lot of neba neba (polyglutamic acid ) which is the sticky enzyme and it's called Nattokianase.
@KnowledgeforQOL Understood, unfortunately I don't have a steamer, I will cook it using a pressure cooker with boiling water, I don't have enough money to buy one. The soybeans sold here are only the small ones, which they said they import from Egypt. I had tried making natto with mint, but it did not work, because I did not find natto starter powder in stores. Unfortunately, there is no Japanese food culture here in Algeria. I ordered it plus a yoghurt maker from China and it is waiting now. Thanks for this information, have a nice day!
I will try it at home, thanks for the video.
Excellent, please let me know how it turns out!
@@KnowledgeforQOL In fact, that lamp is not sold here, I do not own a yoghurt maker, it is not sold here in Algeria, so I ordered one from China, and I also ordered the natto starter powder, I will try your recipe when I receive the tools, then I will tell you the result.
You can use any heating medium that provides temperature of 98 deg F to 108 F. It could be controlled heater or anything else. This is the temperature range for natto to ferment.
@@KnowledgeforQOL I have an electrical resistor, but I don't know if using it inside the oven is a good idea.
@khaledsmatte7379 , I wouldn't use the resistor inside the oven. If you have a gas range oven, then there may be an option for bread proof, which gives a temperature close to 95 to 96 F. I did it once when my bulb was fused, and it was during the fermentation process. Since that time I have been buying long life bulbs and keep a spare.
Nadir Sir, As soon as your videos comes, I just watched without waiting for any thing. Thank you once again for valuable information. I am waiting for your Vit D videos. Please keep making these videos, Its helping a lot.
You're welcome! I'm glad to hear that you're learning. Please share with others as well for their benefit.

Could you do clearance time comparison for all gene types,
@vijayamara817 I think I talked about it in a few other vlogs that are full version. This one is short for only 1 min. The clearance rate is slower in allele 2 and faster in allele 4, whereas the clearance in allele 3 is typical. Please see the other vlogs for clear understanding. Also, watch it completely so you dont miss anything. Thx
Thsi can for coffee ?
No, I don't use ghee for coffee. I use it for my bread or some specialty item when we cook. But if someone wants to make keto coffee, then it can be added.
Thank so what you use for coffee please thank you
I don't use anything in the coffee. I make my pourover black coffee with whole organic coffee beans. Please see my vlog on breakfast.

Ghee is life, thank you for showing us the how! I like to caramelise much more than this, the colour lightens as it cools, but it imparts a sweeter nuttier taste to the ghee.
You're welcome.

You're welcome!
Sir we would like the answer to the question posed by @maheshsingtube...please....Thanks for sharing....Joie de Vivre
Thanks Nadir sir. It was great. It is a master class. Please add your pdf link in the description. I'll keep reviewing the PDF and incorporate things in my life over the time period. As you have said lifestyle changes takes time 😀 Also I notice you take Vit C along with multi vitamin. Any reason taking vitamin C though it exist in lots of vegetables.
You're welcome! Unfortunately, I can't add a pdf to my description. It doesn't allow unless I have an url. You can use the video to save the screenshot as a print screen of pdf for your reference. I added to the description of the video. Also, remember that Vitamin c is water soluble, and we don't store in our body. It gets excreted through urine. So, one needs to replenish frequently. Vitamin c is also a cofactor with D, and it's very good for interior lining for our arteries. It is good in immunity building against cold and allergies as well.
I like your breakfast.i will add some cooked spinach for more potassium.
Sounds great! I eat a full plate of about 13 various stir fry mixed veges in dinner before the main course.
