About how long of a job would this be?
30-45 minutes
Hey this may be something you cannot help with but i was wondering if the police interceptor model is any different of a process then this. Very helpful video either way
Someone already beat me to it :)
Video deserves more views and likes awesome engagement
And subscribers…. Haha. Like everyone, trying to make a little money with these side job videos. 278 down, 722 to go! Thanks for the positive feedback.
Mine just started leaking about a month ago. I've let it sit because I've been having the worst time trying to find the leak but I'm pretty sure that's gonna be the culprit. Thanks for this video because I think you just simplified my life! I already removed the intake and several hoses and unclipped a few things before watching the video trying to find it. This thing has way too much stuff in the way and I don't have the special tools to get those clams loose. is there anything else you would suggest I use?
If it has the factory spring clamps, the best tool I have come across for those is the flexible cable clamp pliers. They just allow you to get into so many places where there’s less room for handles or hands. They are pretty cheap on amazon too.
Hey .think i turned mine wrong on bottom. It jumped off the seal moved. Do i need take it apart redue the clutch fork ??? 🤦I was able put seal back. Im wondering if i missed up the clutch fork when it jumped off .think i winded it to far
I am not sure I understand what you are trying to explain. Which seal? I doubt the clutch fork would be messed up, but if you have to redo any of the process with the drum after it’s been “released” you will need to have the special tools and process to re-lock it.
Awesome detailed video
Thank you!
I appreciate your clear instructions, thanks for making my day easier sir :)
You’re welcome.
Do you have to do this process or can I just drain it out and then fill it up
If you just drain and fill, you will only be changing about 1/3 of the fluid. I would not recommend that.
What is the booked labor time for this replacement? Mine is leaking and I was quoted 3.5 hrs.
Unfortunately I don’t have unlimited access to that data. I pay by the vehicle for a 30 day look when there’s a job that I want to see the procedures for or get the hours. That’s probably about right for book time. It likely includes drain, refill, bleed, and test time. And like always there could be recommended removal of components that aren’t absolutely necessary.
Bake in oven at 40”* for 13 mins to reflow solder! Worked great , cost nothing
Didn’t see that in my reading. I definitely would have tried it!
LOL must be nice to work on a car with zero rust.
Isn’t that usually how it works. The customers cars are nice, rust free. The mechanics cars are rusty and the dash looks like Christmas.
that idler pulley trick was a lifesaver
Good deal
I watched many videos before I took on this task. Your video is the one I followed step by step. You did a great job, thank you!
Glad I could help!
Does the drier push the oil in or does it come out that side you removed? I’m looking to flush my coil.
The compressor pushes oil through the system. There’s usually some that gets trapped in the condenser and drier. A lot of people go ahead and replace the drier if you open the system at all, just from potential moisture.
hell yea great video
Glad you liked it.
You made that look easy. Great video.
Thank you
What's the point of removing the climate control part and gear shifter?
The climate control module may have tabs on the back that hold in the center section above. You could try it without removing those pieces and it might work out. This was just the steps in the procedure so I followed them.
Excellent video thank you, I sincerely hope I never have to do that but its good to know what is involved
Thank you.
This is amazing! I’ve been wanting to replace this on my old Ranger, but it’s been so difficult finding any in depth videos. You did an awesome job explaining everything as you go and giving an up close view! Thank you so much!! I really wouldn’t have been able to do this without this!!
I really enjoy getting reviews like this. One of my main goals is to help people do their own work and save some money. I’m glad you were able to use my video.
Is your ac a lot cooler now?
Once the leaks, blockages, and moisture are out, and a full charge is in there should be greatly improved cooling. In these Fords there’s also been some problems with blend doors and actuators that prevent cold air from making it to the vents.
I didn't see if you had to remove the subframe, wasn't this necessary?
No, it’s not necessary to remove any subframe for this job. The rear subframe holds the power steering rack and I did not take any of that loose. There’s plenty of room.
Love the video. Great footage and you showed all the steps. other vids out there skip alot and are older models. Mine is a 2011 lucerne but looks exactly like this one. Has been "slipping" off the line and sometimes also when slowing down to a crawl, then accellerating. hoping just a 1-2 solenoid, or dirty EPC. otherwise works perfect. Thanks again!
Glad it could hopefully help fix yours
I have a question on my 01 Ford explorer sport Trac. I was told my truck has 2 pcv valves. Will I went to my local auto shop and got a pcv valve and they told me it was on the passenger fire wall and they told me to take the top shield off and it's back in the back and I got to it. Well I looked online and I saw the pcv and it was on the driver side lower firewall. I seen one pcv and it had like 2 little arm things the one on the passenger side was different. Can u tell me if my truck has 2pcv. Thank you
PCV stand for positive crankcase ventilation, it should only have 1, I believe it’s on the back of the intake manifold on that one. No PCV valve will be on the firewall to my knowledge.
@@everydayfixes416 so it's on the driver side. When your standing on the driver side looking behind the engine . Well I got a pcv valve and when thru have it to me it didn't have those arm looking things were the rubber things attach. Then they told me it was on the passenger side. Now I looked them up their 2 different ones. I wish I can show you the pictures of what I'm talking about really.
I would have not installed everything after the condenser, pull a vacuum to verify no leaks.
Very well done presentation, Thanks!
Hope it was helpful

GR8 vídeo clip
Glad it could help.
cool vid. wonder if this method would work with the 4x4 front drive axle installed?
I’ve seen some cases where there is enough clearance for the ball joint to be driven up and out and still clear the axle, but most likely you’ll need to pull it. You could measure tip to top of the ball joint on your new control arm, and compare it to the distance from your control arm to the axle in the ball joint area. Then you’d know for this vehicle before trying.
I was thinking the same thing.
Thanks for the video. It help me to get to the parking sensors. A small hint: it is much easier to remove the bolts between a fender and the bumper if you remove the headligit. The bolts are easily accesible then.
Thanks for the info!
Approximately how long does this take you without filming? Have you done this same on before?
Since I don’t do these every day it’s probably 2-3 hours if all the parts are ready.
@@everydayfixes416 That's amazing.
Great content. Do you want to do my clutch?
Where are you located?

Is this a manual transmission, and all it goes out a clutch, actuators,
It is a manual transmission with computer controlled actuators. The failures are not always all components. Sometime an actuator can fail independently, in which case you can simply remove and replace. Many times the clutch drum fails and the actuators motors are fine.
What grade transmission oil should be used and how much
I believe it’s just a little under 2 qts of Motocraft XT11QDC fluid.
Got new rotors, new pads, and still cries in reverse.
Brand new pads often make noise until they are broke in
And also sometimes it’s just the metallic nature of the pads. You may try roughing the pads slightly.
Way too much involved in this repair..just like the last 5 things I've changed on mine. I'm done with this vehicle and will never buy a Ford again. Excellent job fixing this though, you certainly know what you're doing.
I know what you mean, this is one of those jobs that definitely swayed my opinion from neutral to negative on these Escapes.
Thanks for the video. It’s extremely helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Nice job and video cars called Kuga in South Africa. Satisfaction of doing the work yourself.
And the savings of not paying a shop!

Thanks
Your axel should never just pull out. There’s definitely got to be something retaining it in the diff. That would be unsafe around hard corners otherwise
The axel is bolted to the axel tube through the 4 bolt flange and dust cover/seal plate, and then also the rotor is held inside the caliper. Nothing is going to come off on a hard corner.
That was way too easy. 4 lite half attempt strokes...in the real world that doesn't happen.
Sorry to disappoint you, but a 4 lb slide hammer was the real world. In the right hand side I simply put a pry bar between the axel and pinion and popped it out.
I called bullshit. He pulled the rear differential cover.Drained it remove the C clips.Put the cover back on and then pulled it.
Didn’t remove any clips, you can pop them out with a pry bar or a 4 lb slide hammer removed it just like you saw.
some of these have clips inside the differential that hold em in place
I have seen that before, this model doesn’t have the removable clips.
Thanks 4 video 📹.

Wow thanks for showing that iam missing , that splash sheild . I have a 2015 se . 137,000 miles Can you tell me the size of the sheet metal screws . or where you you got them from . Thank You
The sheet metal screws I got from a local metal supplier for post frame buildings. But you can get them from ace hardware. Just look for the kind with metal and rubber washers.
